It's Not That Hard

Chapter 8

It's been two weeks. Two weeks since I have talked to a single hockey player besides Mike. Two weeks

that I have seen Dougie Hamilton. You see, after that day, I booked myself to be on the next flight to

Nashville.

“Hello?” Carrie answered the phone.

“Hey it's me. Can you talk for a while?”

“Yeah. Whats wrong?” You could hear and feel the concern in her voice. The tears welled up in my

eyes as I told her the story.

“And then Tyler and his team mates thought they should invite him to dinner because if we didn't make

up Dougies game would be off.” I was sobbing while on the phone with her.

“Are you serious? So what are you going to do?”

“I was wondering if I could come and live with you and Mike for a while. I will start school in

Nashville for the rest of the year, and then when you got to Connecticut I will already have finished one

year of schooling. And then start up again when Mike and you come back for practicing in August. And

if you don't I will come down here and stay for a few weeks, then you guy will come down and we can

all stay in the house. If you don't want me too I will get an apartment with some money I have and then

pay for school.”

“No, you come down here and stay for as long as you like. You don't have to go to school if you don't

want to.”

After we talked for a little while I started packing my bags but I opened my door a crack to hear what

was going on.

“I think someone should go get her to have dinner.” I heard a male voice say. Seeing as everyone that

was married and didn't have kids or had a girlfriend was at our house.

“I'll get her.” It was him... Why was he offering to come get me out of my room when HE was the

reason I was up here...

I heard him ascending the stairs. I panicked, what was he doing, what was I going to do. I closed my

door, very quietly and threw all of my packed bags in the closet. I turned my TV on to NESN the

channel I was last watching.

KNOCK KNOCK!

“Come in.” I acted like I didn't know who was at my door.

“Hey, it's Dougie.” He walked in to my room, and I didn't even look up.

“Can you get out? You may see something that will make you think I am disgusting, and make you not

like me. Oh wait, you don't like me.” He looked at me.

“I am sorry! OK! I didn't mean it. I really like you.” He told me.

“You make me laugh. You think I will stay? Yes! I am leaving! I am leaving Boston and your life. I

mean the one guy I actually like and like spending time with tells me he doesn't like me after we MADE

OUT last night! You think you can walk back in here and tell me you like me, and hope maybe it will

make me like you again? No! Not everything revolves around you. Tyler may think so, because did you

know he only invited you over here so we could make up so your game isn't off. If you weren't a player

for the Bruins and we were fighting, we would have to make up ourselves! But because we are going to

ruin your game by fighting so we needed to make up. But I am leaving and we aren't making up. Don't

call me EVER and don't let the guys call me either. Because whatever we are and whatever type of

relationship I have with the team AND you is OVER!” I screamed at him and got my bags out of the

closet and ran. I ran for the door and Brittney saw me. I gave her a look and she grabbed her keys and

Tammy's arm and we left for the airport.

That was two weeks ago. I only talk to Adam and the girls. From what everyone says Tyler and Dougie

are complete wrecks off the ice, but on the ice they don't show it. Adam told me Tyler got a girlfriend.

It was the girl Holly who really did go to that game. But sat in different seats with her friends.

Brittney says Adam doesn't like to admit it as much as the her and the girls do, but he misses me more

than the girlfriends do.

I was broken out of my thoughts when my phone rang.

“Hello?” I could hear everyone in the background, but it was muffled. Meaning either everyone was in

the other room, or I was butt-dialed.

“Hey, it's Adam.. So what are you up too?” I giggled at him.

“Sitting in a hotel room. What about you?”

“Why are you in a hotel room?” I could hear the confusion in his tone. And the yelling and laughing

quieted down.

I heard Tyler ask who he was talking to.

“Umm..... A person?” Adam didn't want anyone to know he was talking to me.

“Guys, he is talking to Bailey. We all know. We all know, that him and the girls have been talking to

her. And we all know that she knows how me and Tyler are acting. But so what? We gave her tow

weeks of space. I will continue to wait, as long as she does. And probably even longer.” I heard Dougie

getting chocked up. I know he thinks he is the reason I left. But in honesty. It was the pressure. It was

the whole thing about him not liking me. If I stayed things would have been weird. I heard a door open

and close, and Adam started talking again.

“Sorry. But we have some free time, and I was wondering,,, Well if I could visit you?”

“Hell yes! I am in a hotel because me and Carrie went to New Jersey so she could tour. How about this,

in a week we will be in Boston. How about I give you my room number and you come up and visit

then?” We agreed on that, and said our good byes.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today is the day Adam is coming to the hotel. For the past two days I secluded myself to being in my
room and not even daring to step outside of it to go anywhere but to get breakfast and to see Carrie's
shows.
Someone knocked on the door and I quickly checked my hair in the mirror and went to answer the door.
But I wasn't ready for what was waiting for me.....
