Lie and Tie

Fifteen

Hey everyone! Thanks for sticking with me through the past two months where I have been an awful author by not writing anything. ): Now that the crazy schedule I had been following for field hockey is just about over, I will hopefully have time to update more often. Once again, thank you to everyone who stuck with this story and who has supported it from the beginning. And to new readers, Welcome! So without further ado, CHAPTER FIFTEEN!!!

Ashley’s POV:

Mrs. Robinson walked out of her kitchen with two steaming mugs of tea. She handed one to me, set the other on the table, and then sat down on the couch. She reached for the mug, took a sip and smiled before setting it back down, shifting and then looking up at me. I sighed and looked down at my tea before putting it next to me and sitting up in my chair.

Mrs. Robinson finally broke the silence, “Well, it sounds like you have been through a bit of a rough time.” I only nodded solemnly and continued to look down. I had told her all about the relationship Tyler and I had. I poured out every feeling and all my emotions to her and she had listened graciously through my entire story.

“Ashley?”

I finally looked up at her sad smile and sighed waiting for her to continue.

“I noticed a pattern in your story.” This comment caught me off guard, “you constantly avoided telling Tyler the truth. So really, you were both lying. He just doesn’t know that yet.”

“Mrs. Ro-“ she cut me off with a flick of her head as she took a sip from her tea and motioned for me to do the same. As I put the mug up to my lips she started to talk, “Now Ashley, honey. I know what you did. I know how you avoid hockey but think about it. You were mad at Tyler, heck you broke up with the damn boy, because he lied. Doesn’t he at least deserve to know the truth about you, even if you don’t get back together, do you not at least owe him that?”

“I guess I do.”

“Of course you do! Don’t guess, know! But before you just go running down to the Garden to tell him everything, hear me out. Mr. Robinson and I have been married for a long time. When we first started dating we both lied about something that almost destroyed us too. We lied about where we were from. On our first date he told me how his parents looked down upon people from Clifton and that’s where I grew up so I told him I was from Livingston. Well it just turns out that he was from Springfield but he had told me that he was from Orange County. See, back in my day, Springfield folks couldn’t stand Clifton folks and most folks couldn’t stand Springfield folks. Which is why he lied to me because he was afraid I wouldn’t give him the time of day if I knew where he was really from. And I lied because I was afraid he would leave if he knew where I was from. Well eventually he found out where I was really from and he came and told me the truth and then if that shock wasn’t enough, the damn boy asked me to marry him. He said “Let our hometowns be our Lie and Tie. And let that bond never be broken.” And I said yes and we got married in Ridgedale. And I have loved every second of our lives together. Now, let’s test your comprehension skills. You and Tyler have a Lie and Tie; something that you both lied about but it bonds you two and makes you stronger. What do you think that is?” she looked at me curiously.

I wiped away the tear at my eye and swallowed, “Hockey.”

She nodded, “And what are going to do about it?”

“I’m going to go tell him.”

“And what are you going to tell him exactly?”

I looked at her for a moment, “I’m going to tell him the truth. The real reason I came to Boston, the real reason I avoid hockey. The real reason as to why a line of paint is chipped away for six flights up the stairwell in this apartment building. And that I’m sorry.”

She smiled at me and I stood up, left her apartment. I ran down the six flights of stairs, my hand trailing the chipped paint all the way down.

Notes

Hi all!!!
I know this is a ridiculously short chapter to give you after two months of waiting but i have the next chapter already written and ready to be uploaded and it is so much better so my apologies. :)

Now, I understand that some poeple were against this idea but I am going through with it anyway and I hope you all understand and support it. The next chapter (Chapter 16) will be the last chapter in Lie and Tie, HOWEVER, it is NOT the last chapter of this story. I have yet to come up with a title but the second half of this story (the continuation of their lives) shall be picked up in another story. I will post the name of it in the author's note of Chapter Sixteen and I will not upload chapter sixteen until I have the first chapter of the second half ready to be uploaded. Again, this is the same story not a sequel or a different story line this is just my way of making sure this story doesn't drag out for forty chapters that seem to never end.

Thank you all once again. And I hope you all are excited for chapter 16 and chapter 1 of part 2!!!

Please leave comments, subcribe (and be ready to subscribe to part 2), and maybe throw some ideas for a name for part 2 in your comments??? Thanks!

Love!
