Opposites Attract
The Charles River
Katie was happy with the decision she had made. Well, she wasn't happy, but she knew it was the right decision to make. She sat at the bench and looked out at the river.
No more than 30 seconds later, Katie looked down the path on her right. Are you fucking kidding me. Of course this would happen, right after I was done with this guy. She saw Tuukka jogging down the path, his forehead glistening with sweat. He had a concentrated look on his face and didn't see her yet.
Katie began to gather her things and get up to leave; she had a lot of work to do and didn't really want to start thinking about Tuukka again.
Just as Katie was beginning to stand up, Tuukka saw her. He began to smile a bit and he sped up to talk to her. She walked a few steps before hearing a tired sounding "Hey!" She turned around.
"Hi."
"What's up? You remember me, right?"
"Yeah, hi. Nothing, I was just leaving. I have a lot of work."
"Oh.. Well..." he gulped, "I was actually going to stop by soon and see if you wanted to go out sometime. To dinner or something." Or something? What the hell Tuukka, he thought, shutting his eyes for a minute, mad at himself.
"I've been really busy lately... I have a lot of work."
"You're not free at all? Only for a few hours. I'm completely open any day... except Saturday," he added desperately. He needed to get to know this girl.
Katie knew she was caught, and somewhere deep down, she really did want to go on a date with him, even with what he had done. She was free for a lot of those nights, her work wasn't that extreme. He's only human, people make mistakes.
"Alright. Well, today is the 2nd... I'm free Friday at 6. Tomorrow--"
Before she could finish, a huge smile spread across Tuukka's face. Friday at 6. Friday at 6! He regained his composure and said, "Yeah, I'm free then. I'll pick you up tomorrow at 6, hopefully if the place I remember is correct," he said smiling.
"Okay... I have to go. I'll see you then," Katie said before turning around quickly, leaving Tuukka standing there.
What the fuck had she just gotten herself into?
