I Want Crazy

Like The Old Us

Paul Bissonnette's POV

I took deep breaths before walking into the room. I kept pacing back and forth. I needed to make sure I knew what I wanted to say to her. I finally worked up the courage to walk in the hospital room. When I looked at her her eyes lit up, but a sudden frown struck her face.

"Ken," I spoke softly as I stood above her. The beautiful eyes I had once been able to look at as I fell asleep were now full of hurt and fear.

She refused to look me in the eyes. I could tell she was very much ashamed of everything that has happened. "What do you want, Biz?" she asked bitterly. I mentally groaned at the fact that she called me Biz. I hated when she would call me that. That wasn't what she would call me.

"I want to make sure you're alright. I was worried about you," I admitted to the poor girl. I pulled up a chair next to the bed. I knew this conversation wouldn't be ending quickly. "Sarah called me last night. I immediately flew back here." Her eyes met mine. I think she understood that, yes, I do still care about her.

"Paul, I'm sorry. It's just a ton of things have been happening—" her eyes started to water. It wasn't long before the tears trickled down a little. I wiped them away with my thumb. I remember this is how I would comfort her before whenever she was upset. "You remember Jaxon, right?" she managed to ask between sniffles.

Then it hit me— I knew why she got herself into this mess. It was her stupid son of a bitch boyfriend. I won't ever know why he would cheat on her. Kendall is as good as it gets. Bam. It hit me that if I was to say all these harsh things about him, she would only turn it around on me. I also cheated on her, multiple times. "Shit," I cursed under my breath.

"What's wrong?" she asked, confused.

"You found out about him cheating, didn't you?" I asked softly. Her face fell as she remembered, yet again, the reason why she was in this hospital.

Her mouth hung open a little. "P-Paul, how did you know? Did Cal tell you or something?" she questioned.

I let out a sigh. Kendall was the only girl I have ever loved in such a way. There probably would never be another girl out there just like her for me. It took all the power in me to not tell her about Jaxon when I first found out. Now to see the girl I loved nearly leave the world because of her ex-boyfriend I wondered why I had even let her be with someone else in the first place. She was supposed to be mine forever.

"I went out with the guys to a restaurant and I met this guy who was telling me about his date, and it was this girl—to make this shorter— I met him that day at your place and I recognized him," I explained to her.

She brushed the hair out of her face as she stared deep into my eyes. "It all makes sense now. That's why you called me that night. You were going to tell me— why didn't you?" she asked with pain and sorrow in her eyes.

"I couldn't hurt you— not again."

She started to tear up again, so I grabbed her hand and squeezed it tight. "I'm so sorry. You shouldn't be here taking pity on me. I'm not worth your time. I don't even deserve you. I'm just a fucking drunk," she cursed as she covered her face in shame.

I immediately got up and held her tight. She needed a hug more than anything. "Kendall, you're a strong and very independent girl. I've never met anyone better than you. Don't cry, there's no need to."

She looked up at me with teary eyes and a shocked look. "You're actually staying here with me?"

"I'm not going anywhere," I reassured. It wasn't long until she fell asleep in my arms.

* * *

I let her sleep because I knew she needed it more than anything. I just couldn't get her phone call off my mind. That might have been her drunk self talking, but I was told what ever is said through alcohol is what can't be said sober. It wouldn't be fair of me to push the silly question onto her. I started to go off in my own daze until I heard someone, "Biz." I turned around to see Callaghan. I got up out of my seat to see him.

"Cal, how's it going?" I asked, like a complete idiot. His baby sister was here in a hospital and she had almost killed herself a few nights before. Callaghan's face was tired and restless— it wasn't hard to tell.

"It's been rough, man," he admitted. "Sarah said Ken shouldn't be working for a while."

"Yeah, I think so too," I agreed.

"She needs a break more than anything. Knowing how Kendall is she will work herself to death to keep all this off her mind. She did it after you two broke up—"

My eyes widened. "She did what?"

Cal looked confused before he started to explain the story. "She came over and cried about it. The girl practically blamed herself for all your mishaps in your relationship," he said in a quiet tone. "The only reason she opened the clinic was to keep her busy from going back to you."

I let out a groan. I couldn't believe that I had let the girl of my dreams wander off and start her own future. Without me. What stung more was that future was focused on keeping me away when I wanted her to stay. My heart has never faced greater heart break than the night she broke my heart. It was only I hadn't just broken her heart I basically ran over it an extra ten times. "Do you think she'll ever take me back?" I croaked out.

He bit his lip. "I'm not sure anymore, maybe not after all of this. She'll be more confused than ever—"

"I still love her. I always will," I told him.

He smiled. "I know that. I can see it in your eyes when you look at her. I seen it the day you two met it was basically love at first sight if you believe in that. It's up to her to make the decision to keep you around," he explained, trying to let me know that he had no control over her actions. Kendall had gone from the young clueless girl I had once known to the girl who had experienced more in her life than an 80 year old woman.

I let a small smile escape my lips as I thought about her and me again. "I understand," I replied.

"I just wanted to let you know that she's going to be coming back home with me. She needs someone to care for her for a while," he lastly said as he got ready to leave.

"I have to go in an hour and if she doesn't wake up, can you make sure she calls me?" I asked with a ton of hope in my eyes. He nodded his at me before I walked out of the room.
