Walk Out
Tyler had never felt that way about a girl before. Normally it was a see her at the club, fuck her and then kick her out the next morning. But this girl, Zoe, she was different to him. He wanted her. Not just to roll around in bed with but to fall in love with.
Tyler knew getting involved, or at least trying to get involved, with Patrick Kane's girl was the biggest mistake you could make. Getting involved with someone in a relationship was always a bad thing but Tyler had to get Zoe.
He had to.
-------
Zoe and Patrick had moved on from the whole Tyler situation on the ice. Patrick couldn't live without Zoe and he didn't want to. Not forgiving her would mean living without her. Zoe didn't want to ever live without Patrick but she had this feeling inside of her. She kept thinking about Tyler. She would never let Patrick know that. It would crush him and them. Everything they had was perfect. But Zoe didn't want perfect, she wanted unconditional.
Yes, Patrick did love Zoe unconditionally and Zoe thought she loved Patrick the same way, but she couldn't shake Tyler. And she got the feeling he couldn't shake her either.
Tyler wasn't someone that Zoe wanted to get involved with. She knew his reputation of alcohol, partying and loads of girls. Patrick had been the same way until he met Zoe. It was like something inside of him clicked. He no longer wanted any other girl, he wanted her. The girl in the tight black dress mixing drinks at Whiskey Business. Tyler was the same.
And the moment they both realize it will be the moment Zoe figures out Patricks secrets.
---------
Michaela and Andrea had found out from Shaw what had happened at the past few away games. The girls Patrick had fooled around with, none of them being Zoe. Shaw had let it slip while they were all talking about away games. Jonathan had been there too and knew the moment that Shaw said one word about the whole team getting a girl that night that Michaela and Andrea knew he meant Patrick as well. So when Zoe came home from Patricks apartment Michaela and Andrea were waiting to tell her the story.
Zoe walked in the door to Michaela and Andrea sitting in the living room as if to suggest they had been waiting for her. Their faces were glum and depressing, but that went right over Zoe's head when she saw the way they were sitting. Backs straight, hands on knees, that only meant one thing. Bad news.
"What's wrong guys?" Zoe asked setting her bag down and hanging her coat on the rack by the front door. Andrea and Michaela just looked at each other asking who should tell her. Zoe just raised an eyebrow before sitting down on the chair across from Michaela and Andrea.
Andrea broke the silence, "We have to tell you something and we don't want to tell you but as your best friends we feel like we must. We decided that you would tell us so it's only right we tell you," Zoe looked between Michaela and Andrea before sitting up more in her chair as if to say she was listening, "You may not believe us but don't be mad." Zoe just nodded her head, not promising she wouldn't be mad. That had gotten her in situations where she couldn't be mad because she had "promised."
"We were out to lunch with Toews and Shaw and they were talking about the season and we got on the topic of away games," Michaela said looking at Zoe to make sure she was listening. She was, "Andrew was going on about away games and how generous girls were this year." Michaela stopped trying to see if Zoe was catching on. She was.
"Shaw didn't meant to say it but he was talking about the away game in Washington and he said and we quote him, "everybody on the team got a girl that night." Andrea said not wanting to looking at Zoe's heartbroken face.
"Including Patrick." Zoe said, the hurt evident in her voice. Michaela and Andrea just nodded their heads, not even able to look Zoe in the eyes.
"We didn't know how many times it happened but Jonathan said it happened at every away game, but he told us that before Shaw told us about Patrick," Michaela said grabbing Zoe's attention once more. Zoe just nodded her head before getting up off the chair, "Please don't be mad at us."
Zoe looked Andrea and Michaela in the eyes and whispered, "I'm not mad at you. Thank you for telling me." Zoe grabbed her keys and threw her coat back on. Michaela was going to ask where she was going before realizing she was going to confront Patrick.
Andrea and Michaela just looked at each other not knowing if they did the right thing but they hoped they did.
-----
Zoe was furious more than hurt. That would change later that night but for now she was enraged. She parked her car outside Patricks apartment before walking up the stairs and into the building, escaping the cold weather. She jabbed the elevator button and ten seconds later she was turning the key he had given her for the elevator and soon the front door to his thousand dollar apartment.
"Hey babe. Miss me already," Patrick said walking out of the kitchen to see who was walking into his apartment. Zoe just walked past him into his room to get everything she had left at his place over the past years. She had forgotten to grab a bag but that didn't stop her. Patrick just stood in the doorframe confused, "Zoe why are you grabbing your things?"
Zoe just ignored Patrick and walked into the bathroom to grab more of her things. She hadn't realized how much she had left there until is was wrapped in her arms. Patrick was following her around the house questioning her before he finally said, "Zoe fucking talk to me." Zoe had had enough. She turned around to face Patrick before dropping all of her things on the floor.
"You want me to fucking talk to you. Fine. I'll fucking talk to you. You fucked other girls Patrick."
Patrick, confused as ever, asked "What the hell are you talking about Zoe?"
"Don't fucking stand there and lie to me you know exactly what I'm talking about. Shaw told my friends!" Zoe said before starting to fell the wetness running down her cheeks. Patrick figured out what she was talking about when she mentioned Shaw. All those girls at all those away games. It made sense now. But Patrick realizing what she was talking about made him realize that Zoe was grabbing her things. She was leaving.
"It was a mistake Zoe. I was drunk and." Zoe cut Patrick off with a slap to the face. That got him angry.
"Fuck you Patrick. All those away games you were fucking other girls. Drunk or not you fucked up. I'm done. Don't talk to me, don't come to my apartment. Bye Patrick."
Zoe had grabbed all of her things again and was walking towards the door when Patrick said, "So you're just going to walk out on us?"
"No. Don't you dare pin this on me Patrick. You slept with other girls. I'm just decent enough not to keep dating you afterwards. I love you but I won't do that to myself. It isn't giving up in my eyes, I'm surrendering. You can go be with all those other girls because this obviously meant nothing to you."
Zoe was halfway out the door before she turned around and said, "I obviously meant nothing to you."
Patrick watched as she shut the door. He watched as the girl he was in love with walked out, and he knew she wouldn't be coming back.
Tyler knew getting involved, or at least trying to get involved, with Patrick Kane's girl was the biggest mistake you could make. Getting involved with someone in a relationship was always a bad thing but Tyler had to get Zoe.
