Love in Boston
Arriving in Boston
"So this is it! Two bedroom two bathroom apartment." Nathan said opening the door. We dragged our suitcases inside and dropped them on the floor. "It's nice. Which room is yours?" I asked. He pointed to a door and then pointed to another door. "That one is yours" I nodded and walked inside.
"There's no bed." I said. He walked in and laughed.
"Guess we're sleeping on the floor tonight. Great" he said.
"Great. Boston is great so far Nate." I said and he rolled his eyes at me.
"You knew it would be like this when we got here. Tomorrow we'll unload the beds and we'll get settled in. I'm gonna grab the tv so we can have some entertainment. With that he left leaving me alone.
"Great. I'm in some strange city and I don't even have a bed to sleep in." I said to myself as I sat on the floor. Eventually he came back and got the TV set up and turned it to some weird channel.
"What are we even watching?" I asked not wanting to suffer boredom anymore.
"I have no idea." He said shrugging. I sighed and got up and grabbed my coat.
"Where you going?" He asked looking at me.
"I'm going to explore our new neighborhood before it gets too late." I said.
"Don't be out to long!" Nathan shouted as I walked out of the apartment. I didn't say anything as I shut the door and made my way out into the chilly Boston air. I stuffed my hands into my pockets as I walked down the street. I looked around at the various stores that I passed and I felt a pang of envy as I looked on at the happy people laughing with each other. I continued on my walk as I got the lay of the land before me. Suddenly I ran straight into a solid body making me hiss in pain.
"Shit I'm sorry. Are you alright?" A male voice asked.
I stepped into Bill's makeshift office and he stood up upon seeing me.
"Tuukka I'm glad you made it. How was the flight?" He asked as he motioned for me to sit.
"Uneventful." I said.
"Alright so you're going to be the starting goalie for the Providence Bruins in Rhode Island." He said getting down to business.
"I have to fly to Rhode Island now? Ugh this just keeps getting better." I said rubbing my forehead in frustration.
"ANYWAYS," he said in annoyance, "the Bruins will be paying attention to you and if they like what they are they'll invite you back to Boston for a game and that's your shot. Don't mess it up if you get it!" He said pointing his pen at me sternly.
"Alright I won't chill out." I said holding my hands up in defense.
"You're going to have to fix your attitude kid! You can't get pissy every time you have to move. For all you know you'll get traded to the Panthers tomorrow. You have to take that in stride!" He said pointedly.
"I realize that but I didn't exactly realize that I'd have to move the second I set down somewhere. First I set down in Toronto and I have to move to Boston, I sent down in Boston and I have to move to Providence. It's a lot to deal with so sorry I'm not captain cheery!" I snapped in frustration and he sighed in annoyance.
"Look just show up in Providence next week and get started. I'll do my best to make sure you don't go anywhere else for a while." He said.
"Alright thanks." With that he dismissed me and I left in a small huff. I was walking down the street when I felt someone smack right into my chest.
"There's no bed." I said. He walked in and laughed.
