Chapter 1

★Avery's POV★
I woke up to the bright winter sun, shining through my window. I yawned and rubbed my eyes before dragging myself out of the cozy, warm bed and into the freezing hall way. I pulled on some socks and sweatshirt before entering the living room. I stood there, astonished at the bright lights and tinsel on the gigantic Christmas tree. I almost forgot today was Christmas. I turned away from the tree and looked at the couch to see Beatrice and her boyfriend Jake sleeping with one another. "Beatrice, you whore!" I said, causing both of them to sit up. "Fuck you, I was sleeping! And if you don't like it, then go stay somewhere else." She said before I replied by sticking my tongue out at her. "Where's Gabe?" Bea asked, entering the kitchen. "At his apartment you dumb ass!" I laughed. "Isn't he supposed to come over for breakfast?" Jake said. Bea nodded, "Speaking of breakfast, I have to go out to the store, I forgot eggs!" "I'll go!" I blurted out. Bea gave me a strange look but then agreed. I was almost out the door when she stopped me. "Aren't you going to change?" She asked, looking at my outfit. I looked down and realized I was still wearing my plaid pajama pants and an old sweatshirt. "Nah, its 8 in the morning, normal people are sleeping at this time!" I replied to her before running out of the apartment and running down to my car. Instead of going to the store to buy eggs, I went right to Gabe's apartment. When I got there I didn't bother knocking, instead I opened the door with the spare key he gave me. I entered his house, which was very neat and clean. I tiptoed down the hall to his bedroom where he was sleeping. I opened the door slightly and peeking into the room. He was burried under blankets and sheets and curled up in a ball like a little kid. He looked so calm and so peaceful. I walked over to the table on the side of the bed and placed my keys and my phone on it, before slipping off my shoes. I climbed on top of the bed before I started jumping. "Merry Christmas Gabe! Wake up!" I screamed jumping on his bed. He didn't budge, so I stopped jumping. I got off the bed and went to the other side, so I could see his face. I got down on my knees and leaned against the mattress. "Gabe?" I said softly. Still no response. I shook his shoulder and repeatedly said his name. "Gabe!" I screamed. He sat up, laughing his head off. "Gotcha!" He said, pulling me onto his lap. I sighed with relief, "I thought you were dead." I said, resting my head on his bare chest. He kissed the top of my head and rubbed my back, "Merry Christmas, Avery." Gabe said. "Merry Christmas Gabe." I said, kissing his cheek. "Does Bea know you're here?" He asked me. "Yes, well no, she thinks I'm at the store getting eggs!" I said, laughing. Gabe laughed along with me before he pushed me off his lap and stood up. I reacted quickly and jumped on his back. "Piggy back ride!" I screamed. "Damn Avery! That was my ear you just screamed in!" Gabe said. "Sorry." I said quietly. We entered the living room and Gabe released me from his back and onto the couch. "Now you stay here while I get dressed" he said before tapping my nose. "I'm not a dog, Gabriel." I retorted. "Whatever you say, Averella!" Gabe called from his bedroom. "Don't call me that!" I yelled. He didn't respond but I heard him laugh. Ten minutes later, Gabe came out into the living room in a grey, button down shirt and and black dress pants to match. "Gabe, I like it much better when you don't have a shirt on" I said when he extended his hand out to me to help me up. He laughed and I accepted his hand to help me stand. "Okay, I am going to run to the store and I'll meet you at our place." I said retrieving my keys, shoes and phone from Gabe's bedroom. "I'll see you there!" He said, before giving me a sweet kiss on the lips.

I entered the apartment that Beatrice and I share. There was light chatter coming from the living room. I put my keys down and placed the eggs on the counter. "Avery!" Bea shouted, entering the kitchen. "Sorry I took so long, there was snow." I lied. Bea believed me and I slipped down the hall to my bedroom, avoiding anymore of her questions. I changed into a pair of dark wash skinny jeans and a flowery blouse. I brushed out my hair and put on some light makeup. I left my bedroom and saw Bea in the kitchen making breakfast. "Wow Bea! Normally I'm the one cooking!" I chuckled as I started to help her make more food. "Jeff is having a party at his house tonight and were all going, so you're welcome to join us." Bea said while she brought the bowl of fruit salad to the table. I didn't really like parties because I wasn't very social due to my shyness. I decided to go because maybe Gabe and I could sneak away and have some alone time together. Bea and I finished the making the food and put it on the table. As if on cue, Jake and Gabe walked into the kitchen from the living room. "Hey Avery!" Gabe said, acting like he hadn't seen me in forever. "Hi Gabe" I said giving him a tiny hug. "Oh and Avery I'm going to Jake's tonight after the party so Gabe can take you home." Bea said to me after we all were seated at the table. I glanced at Gabe who gave me one of his sparkling smiles and a quick wink. I looked at Bea and nodded my head with a slight smirk on my face. Bea gave me a strange look and then looked at Gabe, then back at me. She must of started thinking of something else because she changed the subject. The rest of the meal I listened to Bea talk about what she got her friend Zoe for Christmas. She went on and on about how generous she is. Sometimes she becomes very arrogant. Having Bea talk about Christmas presents made me start wondering what Gabe had gotten me for Christmas. "What about you Avery?" Gabe said, breaking me from my thoughts. "What? Sorry! I spaced out." I said. "He said..what was your favorite Christmas you got when you were little?" Bea said. "Oh..I don't know, I guess my iPhone!" I said finishing my last bite of bacon.

I stood outside on the balcony of Jeff's apartment. The loud music and yelling people kept distracting me from my thoughts. I went outside to escape all the people. Most of the Colorado Avalanches were there with their girlfriends and wives. Too many people around me makes me very uneasy. I needed some time alone without people bombarding me with questions and shoving alcohol in my face. I was only 20 and I have underaged drank before but I didn't like it at all. "Hey Avery..I knew I would find you out here." A voice said from behind me. I spun around and inches from my face were Gabe's bright blue eyes. He leaned in to kiss me but I pushed him away. "People are watching Gabe." I whispered. He nodded, "Do you want to leave with me, and we can go to my place and watch movies?" He said, placing his hand on the small of my back. "Yes please." I said, re-entering the house. "I'll meet you in the car." I said before leaving, I wanted Gabe a chance to say goodbye to his friends. Soon after I climbed into the passenger seat in his car, Gabe climbed in the drivers side. "I told everyone that you weren't feeling good, and I was taking you home." He chuckled as he started the engine. "Can we stop at my apartment so I can change into something more comfy?" I asked Gabe. "Whatever you want." He said, taking my hand and not letting go until we got to my place.

When we got to his apartment he changed into a tee-shirt and basketball shorts. I was curled up on the couch and when he came back I got up and sat in his lap. "Gabe?" I said just above a whisper. He looked down at me as I pulled out a box wrapped in green and red wrapping paper. "Merry Christmas!" I said. He slowly opened the box, and when he saw what was inside, his mouth dropped open. He gasped as he pulled put the small picture frame. In the frame was a picture from out first date, exactly two months ago. "Avery, this is the best present I ever got!" Gabe said, wrapping his arms around me. "Thank you" he mumbled in my ear. "Now its your turn!" Gabe said, jumping up and running into his room. I stayed on the couch for like what felt like forever, but it was really only a few minutes. Gabe came back into the room with a package that was long and thin. He handed it to me, "Merry Christmas." I opened it carefully. When I saw what was inside it, I dropped the package on the couch and ran over to Gabe. "Gabriel Landeskog, you know me so well!" I said as I embraced him in a big hug. "I love it so much! Thank you!" I said as I put the gift back in its box. I glanced at the clock on the wall, 1am. "I really should go, but I don't want to." I thought. "You don't have to leave." Gabe said. "Shit! I said that out loud!?" I said, scolding myself. "Do I have to leave? I don't want to! I want to spent the night here." I whispered. "Avery, you can stay, if your comfortable with it. As long as its okay with you, its okay with me" Gabe said, standing up from the couch. I let out a long, shaky breath, "I want to stay." I said as firmly as I could. In Sweden, girls weren't supposed to sleep with guys until they were married and Gabe and I obviously weren't married (yet). Gabe had asked me to stay with him once before, but I wasn't comfortable with it, and Gabe respected me for that. Now I wasent completely comfortable with the fact I wasent only breaking the rules, but I was stepping out of my comfort zone, and I really didn't want to go home and be alone for the night. "Avery..are you sure you want to do this? You don't have to, sweetheart, I don't want to push you into anything your not comfortable with." Gabe said as he rubbed my back. I looked up at his big, sparkling blue eyes, "I'm gonna stay." And with that said, Gabe picked me up and carried me to his bedroom. He placed me down onto his neatly made bed. I crawled under the duvet cover and snuggled down into his sheets. The sheets where nice and fresh although you still could smell a trace of Gabe's cologne. Gabe walked to the other side of the bed and removed his shirt. He ran his fingers through his hair and took his socks off. When he climbed in bed next to me, my heart rate quickened. I didn't know why I was so uncomfortable. Gabe wouldent hurt me in any way and I knew that, I just was so scared. Gabe must have read my facial expressions because he got up out of his bed. He started walking twords the door and I became instantly confused. "Gabe? Where are you going" I said. "The couch..Avery, I know your uncomfortable, I want you to sleep." He said, standing in the door way. "No Gabe! Please come back! I'm okay I promise!" I said. Through the darkness, Gabe came back into the room and crawled back into bed. I forced myself to accept the fact that this was going to happen someday. I had to grow up and get used to it. I finally convinced my self that nothing bad was going to happen. I gathered my guts and rolled over, now facing Gabe. I moved my self up and rested my head on his bare chest. I curled up against him and he wrapped his arms around my waist. "That's my girl." Gabe whispered, just before I fell asleep.

I woke up in a different bed that wasent my own. I took a moment but I soon realized that I was in Gabriel's bed, with him asleep next to me. It was a different feeling, unlike anything I had felt before, I felt like nothing bad could happen to me, I felt safe. Gabe was spooning me from behind with his strong arms wrapped tightly around me. "Morning sunshine!" Gabe said when I rolled over. "Gabe? Do you think I'm a whore because I slept with you when I wasent supposed to" I said. "First of all, you aren't even close to bring a whore, and second, Avery its okay that you broke a little family rule, your not going to go to jail, I promise you that." Gabe said, brushing my hair out of my face. "And nobody knows about this except you and me" Gabe said kissing my forehead. "And now I know too!" A voice said from the door way. Gabe and I both shot up out of bed. And there, standing in the door way was a girl with the biggest mouth in Denver. Beatrice Landeskog.

Awe thank you, and yes I know I was just trying to make it more interesting. Thanks food reading :)
Good story but just so you know in sweden there isn't a "rule" that says that you're not supposed to sleep with guys until they are married :)
