In The Complex
Chapter 2
I ran through the complex, toward the back end, where the equipment doors were located. I had just received a call telling me that two trucks were waiting out back, for me to unload the new equipment.
I got to the doors, and flicked a switch, raising the doors, as the trucks backed in, side by side.
I hopped on to the first one, which had less equipment on it. I picked up a massive box, with 10 - Chicago Blackhawks logos - Large printed on the top. There were a lot more than 10 of them in there though. The 10 meant 10 packs of logos, not 10 logos.
I heaved the box onto the platform that the trucks had backed into, where I could sort the equipment from.
I moved 9 more boxes exactly the same onto the platform, and then moved on to 10 boxes marked 10 - Chicago Blackhawks logos - Small. After I finished moving them, I moved 10 boxes marked 10 - Chicago Blackhawks training camp logos - Small.
After unloading 100 packs of nameplates and letters to go on the nameplates, the truck drove away, leaving me with the bigger truck still to unload.
I unloaded 100 more boxes marked 1 - White Practice Jerseys, and 100 marked 1 - Black Practice Jerseys.
After I unloaded the last box, and the truck drove away, I collapsed, exhausted by the work.
I decided to leave the equipment there, and closed and locked all of the entrances to the room. Then, I headed back through the complex, to the equipment managers lounge, and unlocked the door.
I could leave all of the doors open all of the time, because the doors to the complex were always locked, and everyone who was a part of the organization had a key to those doors, but I preferred to lock everything, even though everyone had to call me to get me to unlock the place that they needed to get to.
I went across the hall, and unlocked the players lounge, in case a player came by. Then, I headed back to the equipment managers lounge, and collapsed on the couch. I was asleep before I knew it.
