Up and Coming
Chapter 7
I waited until almost the full team had left the plane, and then I stepped into the aisle and opened the overhead baggage compartment. I pulled out my two carry on suitcases, and closed the compartment.
"Hey Jakie!" Said Drew Doughty from behind me.
"Sup?" I replied.
"Not much. You exited?" He asked.
"You bet." I replied, as I headed down the aisle.
I thanked the pilots and flight attendants as I passed, and headed into the gate leading to the airport's VIP section.
I waited about half an hour for all of the security to let us through, and then I headed out of the airport with Mike, into the cool Minnesota night.
We sat down on a bench together, and I set my suitcases down beside me.
"Jake! Mike! Oh my gosh!" I heard a child's voice calling to us.
I turned, and a group of about 10 kids came running up to us with various kings merchandise. I smiled.
"Hey kids. How are you?" I asked them.
"Good." They all answered in unison.
I signed autographs for them for about 5 minutes, until everyone had an autograph.
"Thanks." They all mumbled in unison.
"Thank you!" I said. "Thanks for being fans, and supporting us. We appreciate it."
"You guys all coming to the game tomorrow?" Mike asked them.
They all nodded, and I smiled.
"And the game in Winnipeg." Said one boy. "We all got tickets."
"Nice! Well, have fun! Enjoy the game!" I called to them, as they left.
