Steph's POV
I sat on the bench by the side of the ice, as I looked up to see Sidney skating over to me.
"You ready to get onto the ice?" He yelled over to me as he neared closer.
"Yep." I had some trouble getting up and regaining my balance, but waddled over to where Sidney was standing, on the ice, leaning on the side benches.
I stepped onto the ice and slipped on my right foot just as he caught me, pulling me closer to him, grabbing me by by waist before I fell face first onto the ice. I turned to look up at him. "Thank you!" I exclaimed to him as I got up cautiously, facing him , our bodies touching, his hands still around my waist.
"It's all good." He replied as he smiled at me.
Sidney's POV
I skated around the ice a few times while Steph got her skates on. The team was still not here yet, so I figured we'd have enough time for a one on one session. I saw she was done, so I skated over to , and asked her if she was ready to get on the ice. She replied she was, so I watched as she managed to get up from the bench and waddle over to where I was standing, occasionally loosing her balance. She stepped out onto the ice as she slipped, and I caught her before she fell face first, pulling her closer to me as I helped her up.
"Thank you!" She sounded relieved.
"It's all good." I replied, trying to sound as casual as I could, trying to ignore the fact that we were so damn close. I skated over to center ice.
"Now, the first thing to learning to skate and play hockey" I stopped talking and turned to look at her, still leaning against the bench, a pissed off look on her face. ", sorry." I left her there. I skated over to her and took her hand, leading the way. I explained the rules and basic things that needed to be covered.
"Okay, now, since you've almost got your balance, I'm gonna let you take some shots at me, see how good you are. I handed her my stick, and went over to stand in net.
Steph's POV
He handed me his stick and skated over to the goal post, pulling his goalie helmet down over his face . "Really? Sid, you're gonna let me use your stick? Don't you like, not let anyone touch it?"
"Well, I could make a exception for you. No one else." He lifted up the goalie mask so I could see his face.
"Aw, well, thanks, Sid." I replied as sweetly as I could, and set up my stick for a shot. I lined up the puck with the stick and just took a second to focus. I was ready. I pulled back the stick and then forward, sending the pick flying straight past Sid and into the goal post. I laughed. "Wow, maybe I'm just naturally good, or your just a really bad goalie." He lifted his helmet to reveal a grin.
"Well, for your first goal you did really good Steph." He walked back into the net and we continued taking shots. I could feel my shots getting better with each goal, and my skating had improved a lot from the time I started half an hour ago. As I took another shot, (and scored, once again) I heard woos and cheers as Geno, Letang, Orpik, Beau, Vokun, and Dan Bylsma walked into the bench.
"Aw Sid, man, I think you got some competition here!" Bennett yelled at us, as he walked across the ice over to me and Sid. "Soo..who is this, Captain?" Beau asked Sidney with a raised eyebrow as the others and Bylsma walked over.
"This, is Stephanie Rourke. I met her at the first game, and I was just teaching her the basics of hockey, since she wanted to learn." Sidney told them. I was introduced to all five of them, and Bylsma walked over to me.
"Steph, eh? Why do I feel like I've met you..or seen you somewhere before?"
