Don't Get Laid Where You Get Paid

~The End~

**Kayla's POV**
I walked into the arena and immediately saw my boyfriend. "Hey Sidney, how are ya? You don't look so good, you okay?"

"Yeah, um, come here, we need to talk."

"Okay," What on earth does he want to talk about? He pulled me into a side hall leading to the assistants office. "Yes? What would you like to talk about?" I asked giving him a quick peck on the lips.

"Kayla, I told Dan about us."

"Why the fuck would you do that for?" I asked in rage.

"Because I couldn't take it anymore baby, I want to show people I'm with you now, I do, I love you, and I want to show the world that too."

"Aw, that's great," I smiled sweetly, then I changed my tone, "but are you on crack? Sidney, I lost my job because of you! Now I have nothing to do for a living!"

"You don't need to work anymore, trust me, I'll provide for you," he said touching my hips and sliding his on mine as well.

"No, don't touch me right now. I don't need that, you just messed up everything for me; I needed this job to keep me around okay? Now without this, I have nothing, all thanks to you."

"Don't be like that Kayla," he whined.

"Don't whine to me, you just screwed me over Sidney," I scolded, walking out of his arms.

"But-"

“I’m going home, I’ll talk to you later,” I stormed out of the arena.

I saw Karl in the parking lot, he was on his way in. “Hey-whoa Kayla, why do you look so upset?”

“Sidney told Dan and Ray about us, so I just lost my job,” I sniffed. He embraced me in a hug, something I needed.

“Are you gonna be okay?”

“Yeah, I’m just gonna be at home planning what I’m gonna do next.”

“Will I see you soon?”

“Yeah, I’ll talk to you later.”

“Kay, bye.”

“Bye,” I walked away. There is no way he could’ve done that, no way. He loves me too much. When I got home, Abbey wasn’t home yet from her job at a daycare, so there was a few messages on my answering machine.

“Hey this message is for Kayla, it’s Sidney. Listen, I feel terrible about what I did today, and I don’t think that it was right for me to do. I told him because I couldn’t,” I stopped the message without listening to the rest. I’m done with his crap. I didn’t even delete it, just don’t want to hear it right now. When my sister came home, I let her know everything. I had a plan, and it was going into action.

I went to the arena and cleaned out my desk, running into everybody, including Jordan, who gave me a heartwarming speech. But I won’t get into that cuz I will cry. “Hey guys,” I sighed. All the good people came over and gave me hugs.

“So sorry to hear,” Landon said during our moment, “You don’t deserve that type of treatment and it was unfair.”

“Thanks Landon, I appreciate it,” I smiled through the tears. Karl sort of stood back. I also noticed that everything was decorated. “What’s this?” I asked.

“Your going away party,” Marc-Andre Fleury said coming around a filing cabinet, along with other players from the team.

“What?”

“Well, we love you so much, and we don’t want you to leave, and since you have to, we’re sending you out with a bang,” Kris smiled.

“Really?”

“Yup.”

“Aw, you guys, I’m gonna cry even more,” I laughed getting a group hug from the team. The whole team was there but one. Sidney. The party was great, I got to dance and have a good time with my friends. I even got to see Wes for one last time.

“Hey Kayla, sucks that your leaving, I’ll miss you,” he said offering a hug.

“Oh don’t give me that bullshit; I know you wanted this the whole time. And you know what, take my job, it’s great. I mean, you get to know a great guy who you think is a God like the rest of the world, and when you really get to know him, he’s amazing. And one wrong move and he’s a dick, but you know what? You’ll love him. Have a great time asshole,” I said punching him.

“Oh!!” Talbot laughed snapping his fingers giving me a high five.

I was by myself at one point and Jordan came over sitting beside me.

“So this is it for you huh?” he asked.

“Yeah, for now.”

“What are you gonna do?”

“No clue, maybe go home to Canada for a bit, take a break, figure my life out,” he nodded, “Thanks for everything Jordan, even though we ended ugly, I do still love you and I do want to keep in touch."

“Me too,” he chuckled, throwing his arm around me. We gave eachother a hug.

“You have my number right?”

“Yeah.”

“Don’t be a stranger,” I winked walking away.

“Where are you going?”

“To say goodbye to an old friend who couldn’t be here, I’ll see you around,” I laughed.

The last time on the ice was surreal. “Last time,” I sighed standing dead centre of the ice. “I’m gonna miss this place. You know what? If it wasn’t for this place, I wouldn’t have gotten as far as I did in life. Weather it was housekeeping or assisting, I did it. I made friends here, and I found love, making great memories along the way. Thank you Mellon arena for this chance,” I said turning to walk away, when someone stopped me. “Wha? What are you doing here?” I asked seeing a tall Sidney Crosby.

“I came to say goodbye,” he licked his lips.

“Well I don’t want one from you."

“Your really gonna be like that?”

“No, I won’t, because I will see you again, do I know when? No. But I know I will.”

“Why are you saying that?”

“Well because Sidney, I’m gonna leave and take a break. I wanna go home to Canada and take a long break, and maybe get a job up there, I loved my time here, but I need a change.”

“Well, I stand behind your decision, but let me know one thing. Are we done?”

“For now,” I said walking up to him handing him a note, and leaving. “Bye Sidney, I love you.” That was it. No more Mellon arena for me.

**Sidney’s POV**
Shoot I’m late! Jordan texted me that they were throwing a going away party for Kayla, and I wanted to be there. When I got there, she was gone.

“Where is she?” I asked in a panic.

“She just left to go say goodbye to an old friend,” Jordan said getting up and letting me know.

“Thanks man,” I said running away.

“And Sid!” I looked. “Check the rink!”

Sure enough, there she was, looking more beautiful then ever. Her blonde hair was down and curly, just like it was earlier today. She was wearing jeans, a leather jacket and a scarf with those boots. She was dead centre of the rink. I moved my way down slowly, listening to her words she had to say. She was crying, I know that voice she has when she cries. Why did I do this to her? I need to make it right. I went up behind her as she turned away. We had a conversation and she handed me a note. After she was gone, I stood there and read it.

Sidney,
I’m so sorry thing’s ended the way they did. I’m sure you had the right intentions the whole time, as I you always do. The reason I’m doing this is for us, I feel as though I’m holding you back from so many great and wonderful thing’s in life, and you need to get out there and do it. And it wasn’t until I learned that with you until I learned I needed to do that myself. So that’s what I’m doing. I’m going home and figuring out what I want to do exactly. Good luck with your future, I know you’ll have a great one. Have fun succeeding in your career, the cup is yours next season, I have a feeling. Thanks for the memories and good times, you are the best person I have ever met, and I am thankful to have gotten to know you as a player, a legend, a lover and a friend. I love you, take care,
Kayla.

That’s it, she’s leaving me. She’s actually leaving me. Wow. As I read the note, I opened the tiny box that was in my pocket and looked at it. Well I guess I don’t need this anymore, I thought. So I put the box back in my pocket, knowing she’ll get it someday. When that someday will be? I’m not sure, but I do know I’ll see her soon.

**Kayla’s POV**
On my ride back home, staring out the window of the city I had loved. I spent so many good time here and so many countless hours living my life to the extreme. As I drive away, passing Jordan’s house, I feel sadden by the whole situation with him and I. As I pass Sidney’s place, I shed a tear for what could’ve been the best relationship of my life that I had ruined. And as I pass the Arena, I began to sob. There goes my favourite place in the world, the place I loved. Driving out, there goes Pittsburgh. Goodbye memories. But you know as they say, it’s not a goodbye; it’s a see you later. And that my friends, is why you don't get laid where you get paid.

The end.
