Chapter 19
Tyler felt like he was going to explode from the anger and hurt he was feeling. Brad had to nudge him to get ready to get on the ice. Tyler jumped over the bench and took off like a bat out of hell chasing Phil Kessel and the puck. He slammed Kessel into the boards with full force. The crowd went nuts as Kessel dropped to the ice. Tyler retrieved the puck, started weaving his way up the left side of the ice and made his way through the Maple Leafs’ defense. As he got into the offensive zone, he cut across the middle of the ice and found himself one-on-one with Toronto’s goalie James Remier. As he got within range of the Leafs’ netminder, Tyler made one quick move and whipped the puck past Remier. The Leafs’ goalie had no chance! Tyler’s goal gave the Bruins the lead with less than 3 minutes remaining in the game.
As Tyler was headed towards his teammates to celebrate, Kessel slashed him on the back with his stick. Tyler turned around and Kessel speared him in the face causing a huge gash under his eye. Tyler immediately dropped his gloves and he and took a swing at Kessel. He took all of his pent up anger and started pounding on Kessel. It took Bergeron and McQuaid to pull Tyler off of Kessel. The crowd was going nuts and both the Bruins and Leafs were completely stunned as this was completely out of character for Tyler. In fact it was his first real NHL fight. Bergeron and McQuaid finally got Tyler over to tunnel where he walked off with the trainers so they could take a look at the gash that was still oozing blood. The final minutes of the period were played 4 on 4 due to the penalties to Tyler and Kessel. When the final horn sounded, the Bruins won the game 2-1 thanks to Tyler’s goal.
Although the referees didn’t call a penalty when Tyler boarded Kessel, his coaches told him the NHL department of player safety would be reviewing the video. They said he shouldn’t be surprised if he gets suspended for a few games. Claude, his teammates, and the press were all hounding him about what happened on the ice. Tyler wasn’t really sure how to respond to all the questions. His mind was still reeling from seeing Bailey kiss Freddy and the fight he got in with Kessel. He knew his jealousy is what set him off and he took his frustration out on Kessel, but that wasn’t something he could admit to the press or his coach. Tyler lied and just said the excitement of the game got to him and he had a huge adrenalin rush. He was honest when he said he had no intention of hurting Kessel when he checked him into the boards, he just wanted to get the puck and help his team. When Kessel attacked him with his stick, he felt he had to defend himself and admits he may have gotten carried away. Tyler apologized to Tuukka and the rest of his team for putting them down a man for the remainder of the game.
After Tyler was done speaking with the press he went back to the locker room and took a very long shower. As the water rushed over his body, he tried to gather his thoughts and figure out exactly what he was going to say to Bailey and Freddy. Eventually he got dressed and anxiously headed to the family and friends room, not sure what to expect. He wasn’t even sure if Bailey and Freddy would be there or if they decided to go off on their own. His heart dropped at that thought; he had strong feelings for Bailey and couldn’t bear the thought that he had lost her.
Tyler walked in to the room with his head down. To his surprise, he was hit with a force of energy that enveloped him in a tight embrace. He looked down to see Bailey was hugging him with all her might and Freddy was nowhere to be found. Tyler immediately released the tension in his body and wrapped his arms around Bailey. He didn’t understand it, but he wasn’t angry with her. He could tell she still had feelings for him and he was ready to fight for her if he had too.
Bailey loosened her embrace slightly and looked up at Tyler. “Does it hurt?” She asked, moving her hand up to his cheek near the gash under his eye.
“Nah, not anymore.” Tyler said before turning his head to kiss her palm.
“Come here.” Bailey said gesturing for Tyler to bend forward. He obliged and she gave him a swift kiss on his lips. Bailey’s cheeks turned what was quickly becoming Tyler’s favorite shade of pink as she smiled and leaned back into his chest and tightened her embrace. “I missed you.” She said so softly that only he could hear.
“Me too. Let’s get out of here.” Tyler smiled, slowly pulled out of Bailey’s arms, took her hand and escorted her to his car. They drove back in silence to his condo, holding hands the entire time. “I’m going to take Marshall out real quick. You can change in the guest bedroom.” Bailey grabbed her bag that she brought over when she came by earlier and headed to the bedroom to change.
Tyler gave Marshall a treat and put him back in the guest bathroom after he took him out to do his business Tyler then changed into a dark pair of jeans, and a nice V-neck gray sweater that clung to his muscles. He decided to check twitter while he waited for Bailey to finish getting ready. As he scrolled through his timeline he was bombarded with a plethora of pictures of pictures of Freddy and Bailey on the kiss cam from the game. People assumed Bailey was Freddy’s girlfriend based on all their tweets the past several days and now the kiss. Tyler’s emotions from earlier came flooding back. He was confused and knew there had to be an explanation behind the kiss, since Bailey was there with him and not Freddy but he couldn’t help the anger he was feeling. He went to the kitchen and grabbed the vodka out of the freezer and drank 2 double shots before Bailey came into his view. Bailey looked stunning in her form fitting green and black mini dress with quarter sleeves and ankle boots.
“You look amazing!” Tyler couldn’t help but stare as he walked over to Bailey, took her hand and they walked out the door headed to the Estate club. After he parked his Maserati, Tyler opened Bailey’s door and helped her out. They walked hand in hand towards the club.
“Oh goodness, look at that line. Do you mind if I go back and get my jacket?”
“You won’t need it.” Tyler smiled as he gently pulled Bailey across the street to the side entrance. The bodyguard let Tyler and Bailey in without any questions. Tyler took Bailey back to a VIP area where they had their own private bar. A few of Tyler’s teammates were already there as well as several scantily clad women. Tyler took Bailey to the bar. “What would you like to drink?”
“I’ll have whatever you’re having Tyler, unless it’s beer, then I guess I’ll have an amaretto sour.”
Tyler laughed before ordering 2 shots of Patron, an amaretto sour, and a Sam Adams beer. “Bottoms Up” He said as he passed Bailey a shot.
Tyler kept the drinks flowing for him and Bailey as the night went on. They were enjoying each other’s company as the music pulsed a strong techno beat with a thumping bass line in the background.
“I’m so happy!” Bailey shouted over the music. She stood up from the couch and started to dance in front of Tyler. “Dance with me.” Bailey took Tyler’s hands. “Please dance with me Tyler.”
Tyler smiled, stood up and took Bailey to the dance floor. Bailey closed her eyes and surrendered to the pulsing rhythm of the music. She was an amazing dancer with impeccable rhythm. Tyler had never seen Bailey with so much confidence and he found it incredibly sexy. He gazed at Bailey with fire in his eyes and pulled her to him, grabbing her hips to start sensually dancing with her in time to the pulsing beat of the music. Bailey ran her hands over Tyler’s flawless chest and his six-pack as they stretched and tensed under his tight sweater. Bailey turned her back to him, smiling as he wrapped his arms around her waist.
One song morphed into another as they danced. Neither one showed any signs of wanting to return to the bar. The sweat started to slowly bead down Bailey’s neck and the multicolored strobe lights coupled with all the alcohol started to make her feel a bit dizzy. She closed her eyes and leaned her head against Tyler’s chest. He grabbed her hands and pulled them up around his neck. His hands slowly started to run down her arms and ribs before returning to her hips. Before Bailey knew what was happening, she felt Tyler’s lips and then his tongue against her neck and his hands sensually working their way down her legs towards the hem of her dress. Bailey pulled away from Tyler.
“What Bay?” Tyler asked looking surprised.
“Not here, not like this Tyler.” Bailey replied and retreated back to the VIP area and Tyler followed.
Bailey noticed Freddy and gave him a quick hug when she arrived at the bar. “Two waters please” She told the bartender.
Tyler stood beside Bailey and ordered 2 more shots of Patron.
“Tyler I don’t want another shot. I got us both some water.”
“It’s not for you and I don’t need water!” He said as he slammed both shots down his throat.

“Am I not good enough for you? You’ll fucking kiss him but not me!” Tyler yelled at Bailey as he pointed to Freddy.
“What?” Bailey and Freddy asked simultaneously.
Tyler shot them a dirty look. “Did you really think I wouldn’t find out? 17,000 fucking people saw you at the Garden and it’s all over twitter!
“What? No! Tyler, I swear it’s not what you think. It was a joke!”
Tyler pushed Bailey’s hand off of his arm as she tried to clarify what happened. “I saw you with my own fucking eyes! I went ape shit on Kessel and now I’m going to get suspended thanks to you!”
Just as Freddy was about to say something, Tyler felt an arm slip around his waist. He turned to see it was Mandy, the bunny Brad brought to his movie party. “You here with your girlfriend?” Mandy asked looking in Bailey’s direction as she put her other hand on Tyler’s chest. Bailey cringed in disgust.
Tyler looked at Bailey then turned back to Mandy, pulling her close to his body. “She’s not my girlfriend. In fact, I’m pretty sure she’s fucking my roommate!” Tyler then pulled Mandy away from the bar and out onto the dance floor. Bailey stood there completely dumbfounded by Tyler's last remark.
“Bailey, I’m so sorry. I had no idea Tyler would react this way or believe the kiss was real.”
“It’s not your fault Freddy. I didn’t have to go along with the stupid joke.” Bailey responded, as she couldn’t help look over at Tyler who was now grinding and making out with Mandy hot and heavy on the dance floor.
“Bailey, don’t look. I promise I’ll talk to him later when he’s sober and had a chance to cool down. I’ll straighten everything out.”
“It’s no skin off my nose, like Tyler said I’m not his girlfriend. It would never have worked out for us anyways; I couldn’t give him what he needs.” Bailey said trying to hold back tears.
“Don’t say that Bailey! You are the best thing that ever happened to Tyler. Please don’t give up on him, let me fix this.”
“You’re so sweet, but it’s too late. I just feel awful that you got dragged into this. I don’t understand how Tyler didn’t believe and trust you. You’re his best friend; it just doesn’t make sense. I really hope you can work things out with him.”
“Do you want a drink?”
“No thanks, I’m just going to head home.”
“Ok, let me close my tab and I’ll take you home.”
“Freddy, I appreciate the offer but I think that will only get you into more trouble. Just do me a favor, Tyler’s had a lot to drink tonight, will you please make sure he doesn’t drive and gets home safely? I couldn’t bear it if anything happened to him!”
“I promise!” Freddy reassured Bailey as he gave her a hug goodnight. “Be careful and text me when you get home.”
“Night.” Bailey muttered. As soon as she was out of Freddy’s eyesight she could no longer contain herself and the tears started to flow.
