Therapy is Good for the Soul

Chapter 56

As soon as Bailey woke up the next morning, she called her sister to check on her dad. Rebecca reassured her that their dad was okay and soundly sleeping. She then told Bailey not to worry, that she and the rest of the family would take care of him so she could enjoy her special day. They spoke for several minutes before there was a knock on Bailey’s door, so the girls ended the call.

“Good morning! How is our blushing bride on this beautiful sunny day?” Emily asked as Bailey opened the door to greet her and Christina.

“Excited, nervous, maybe a little bit tired and worried.”

Emily immediately pulled Bailey into a hug. “How is your dad?”

“Becca said he’s ok. They are lettin him sleep in this mornin since he got home from the hospital so late.”

“That’s good, that way he’ll be well rested to walk you down the aisle. Now, we have a full day ahead of us, so let’s get you fed and cleaned up.” Christina pulled out the room service menu for the girls to browse.”

Just as they were about to order as if on cue, room service knocked on the door to deliver a plethora of food and beverages. One of the waiters gave Bailey a card and a bouquet of Gerber Daisies. The girls thanked the waiters and gave them a generous tip even though they were sure it had already been covered.

“Well don’t just leave us hanging, tell us what the card says!” Emily insisted.

“Bay, I can’t believe this day is finally here. I am so excited to start the next part of my life with you! I love you with all my heart and want this day to be everything you’ve dreamed it would be since you were a little girl and more. You say you don’t like surprises, but I think we both know that’s not really true. Anyways, this is fair warning that there are quite a few surprises in store for you today. So fuel up because you’ll need lots of energy for all of the excitement awaiting you. See you soon. All my love, Tyler.”

“AWWW!” Chistina and Emily cooed in unison while Bailey got giddy.

“Well don’t just stand there starin at me, let's dig in!”

The girls enjoyed their special feast which even included one of Tyler’s special protein smoothies to soothe Bailey’s stomach. While the girls ate, Bailey sent Tyler a thank you text, which turned into a full-blown conversation, until Christina snatched Bailey’s phone away and Emily pulled her out of her chair and towards the bathroom to get ready. After Bailey was showered and dressed, the girls went to Bailey’s parents’ room to pick up her mom, sister, Melissa, Marybeth, and Sarah Kate to get their nails, hair, and make-up done. When the girls stepped into her parent’s suite, Bailey found her next surprise. Tyler flew in her dad’s CNA late last night to help take care of him and ease Bailey’s mind a bit. Once again, Tyler’s generosity and love for her shown through. Bailey took a few minutes to discuss what happened to her father last night with the CNA before the girls headed to their next destination. They met up with Tyler’s mom and sisters in the lobby and everyone piled into the fully stocked limo Tyler had waiting to take them to the salon.

All the girls had a blast sharing stories about Bailey and Tyler through the years while they got the royal treatment in a private room in the salon. Bailey especially enjoyed learning how mischievous Tyler was when he was younger. It was also quite endearing hearing how protective he is of his sisters. Despite her mother being there, Candace shared a few stories, how Tyler got her out of trouble and snuck her back in the house unnoticed. It was also hilarious how he tried to intimidate the guys who showed any interest in his sisters but failed miserably. Bailey was looking forward to teasing Tyler about some of the stories his family shared. Of course, she didn't escape unscathed either as her family and Emily shared a few embarrassing stories about her as well.

After everyone finished getting a manicure and pedicure, they enjoyed a delightful lunch prepared by Momma Rosa. Just in case she was feeling nauseous, Tyler had another one of his special protein smoothies prepared for Bailey. He was doing everything he could to ensure the baby was fed and Bailey's stomach was calm on their special day. It seemed like at every turn Tyler had another surprise for her showing her how special she was and how much he loved her. Before everyone started getting their hair and makeup done, Bailey gave them a special gift from Tyler and her. Everyone received a beautiful charm bracelet with charms tailored to each person’s life. They even got one for Sarah Kate with a tiara, ice skate, hockey stick, and a Bruins charm. They gave their moms a necklace with charms that had the birthstones, and an engraving with the names and birth dates of each of their children as well as grandchildren for Bailey's mom. Of course, their mothers cried, which is precisely why Bailey gave them out before they had their makeup done.

“Bailey, Tyler asked me to give this to you after you handed out all your gifts. I’m under strict instructions to make sure you get this before your makeup is done and want to kill him for making you cry.” Cassidy handed Bailey a small lavender bag with silver tissue paper and a card.

Tyler was of course right about the timing of the gift because Bailey immediately teared up as she read the sweet message from her soon to be husband. “Bay, I know how you feel about me buying you things, but you’ll just have to get used to it because I plan on spoiling you and our children every day for the rest of my life! Words will never be able to describe how deep my love is for you. I thank God every day for bringing you into my life. I'm so excited to begin this new journey and start a family with you! I hope this small token of my affection will provide a reminder of how much you and our child mean to me. After the baby is born, we can change the picture and add a birthstone if you'd like. See you soon! All my love, Tyler.”

When Bailey looked in the bag, there was a small blue Tiffany’s box inside. After pulling the white ribbon and top of the box off, she found a lovely vintage locket necklace. The back of the locket had their names with a heart between and today’s date at the bottom. Opening the locket revealed her favorite picture of her and Tyler on one side and their baby’s most recent sonogram picture on the other. Everyone oohed and ahhed over the locket and Tyler’s sentimentality.

Bailey immediately put the necklace on and had Cassidy take a picture of it around her neck, but made certain her face wasn't in the photo. She sent the photo to Tyler with a huge thank you and I love you message. Tyler wished he could have given it to her personally to see her face when she opened it, but he knew Cassidy took a video he could see later. He sent her a great minds think alike message thanking her for the engraved cufflinks with their initials and a heart between and today's date just like he did on the necklace.

After everyone had their hair and make-up finished, they got in the limo to head to the chapel. Once they reached the chapel, Alexis greeted them outside the bridal suite already decked out in her junior bridesmaid dress. Everyone went into the bridal suite and changed into their dresses for the wedding. Christina, Cassidy, and Candace decorated Alexis’ powerchair with flowers while Bailey’s mom and Emily helped Bailey get into her wedding dress and veil. Everyone told her how gorgeous she looked as they passed the box of tissues around. Bailey was using all her willpower not to cry, but when her mom handed her, her grandmother’s earrings she finally cracked. Bailey pulled her mother into an embrace and thanked her for letting her borrow the special earings. Now she had everything she needed, her dress was new, the earrings were borrowed and old, and her garter was blue. Emily quickly touched up Bailey’s make-up just before Rebecca who stepped in to act as the wedding coordinator told them it was time. Bailey and Tyler’s mom hugged her one last time before they left to take their seats in the sanctuary. Soon after, the bridal party said a prayer before leaving the bridal suite to prepare to go down the aisle.

Bailey’s father met the wedding party just outside the closed doors to the chapel sanctuary. He was rendered speechless when he saw Bailey for the first time in her wedding dress. Realizing he was about to escort his baby girl down the aisle to assume Tyler’s last name choked him up and his eyes began to moisten.

“Oh Daddy!” Bailey ran over to her dad and hugged him.

“My sweet little munchkin is all grown up. You look beautiful Bailey!” He managed to whisper in her ear as he returned her embrace.

While they had their special moment, Rebecca signaled for each bridesmaid to start strolling down the aisle, starting with Cassidy, followed by Candace, then Christina, and Emily. Then Alexis had the pleasure of escorting the cutest ringbearer ever, Marshall down the aisle. Once she reached the front, Tyler bent down kissed her cheek before unlatching Marshall’s leash from her chair and handing him off to Freddy. Alexis propelled her chair over to the other bridesmaids. Next up to the joy and delight of everyone Sarah Kate skipped, danced, and twirled down the aisle while throwing rose petals of various colors. When she reached the front, she ran over to Tyler, and he bent down to kiss her cheek thanking his little princess. Everyone loved how sweet and adorable Tyler was with Alexis and Sarah Kate. After Sarah Kate reached the end of the aisle, Rebecca pulled her sister in for a hug and told her it was her turn.

As the music changed and everyone rose to watch Bailey come down the aisle, there was yet another surprise in store for her. Only this time it was a surprise for everyone. Bailey’s dad pushed his walker aside and offered his arm to Bailey.

“Daddy?” Shocked and concerned Bailey questioned what her dad was doing.

“It’s ok munchkin; I’ve been working like a dog to make sure I could walk you down the aisle with my own two legs instead of looking like an old man. Now take this, I don’t want to be responsible for you ruining your makeup.” He said as he offered her his handkerchief to wipe the steady stream of tears falling down her cheeks.

“You sure?”

“You bet I am, now let’s go before Tyler thinks your standing him up.” Bailey smiled, stretched up on her tiptoes to kiss her dad’s cheek before gladly accepting the arm he offered. Bailey wiped her tears one last time and asked Rebecca, and her dad check to make sure she was still presentable before she and her dad began walking slowly down the aisle towards Tyler smiling from ear to ear.

Tyler briefly forgot how to breathe, and his heart stopped as he watched his Bay float down the aisle with her father. He didn’t think it was humanly possible, but she was even more stunning in her ivory gown with her hair slightly pulled back with wavy curls, and waterfall braids worked into it than he’d ever seen. Between her beauty and her father’s courage, his eyes began to well up with tears. He quickly wiped his eyes; before he knew it, they were standing in front of him, and Bailey’s father guided Bailey’s hand to his. Tyler gladly took Bailey’s hand, but he also helped her father get safely to the front pew after her dad officially gave her away when the preacher asked. Tyler gave both of Bailey’s parents a hug and promised he’d take care of Bailey forever while somehow managing never to let go of Bailey. He then turned to Bailey who was smiling despite her misty eyes and escorted her to stand in front of the minister. Tyler and Bailey turned towards the other and got lost in each other’s eyes. They barely listened to the words the minister spoke because they were almost too busy dreaming about their future with each other. The exchanging of their vows was very sweet and romantic causing both of them to shed a few more tears of joy. After they exchanged their vows and rings the minister pronounced them husband and wife and told Tyler he could kiss the bride. Tyler kept his promise to keep their kiss gentle and brief. When they pulled apart, she hooked her arm with his and leaned into his side as they both took a number from Sarah Kate practically skipping back down the aisle and out of the chapel. Once outside, Tyler picked Bailey up and spun her around.

“We did it! There’s no turning back now; you’re finally mine forever, Mrs. Seguin.”

Bailey couldn’t help but giggle, “I’ve always been yours.”

“God, I love you!” Tyler smiled, finally putting Bailey’s feet back on the ground and gave her a real kiss both of them would remember as their first true kiss as husband and wife. Tyler continued to shower Bailey with more kisses until he heard Emily tell them to break it up because their guests would soon be out to go through the receiving line. Tyler and Bailey remained in constant contact with each other as they greeted all their guests, thanking them for joining their celebration.

The bridal party and families remained behind for photos while the rest of the guests headed to the reception for cocktails and hors-d'oeuvres. The photographers took several pictures in the large butterfly and flower garden which also included a lovely little gazebo located behind the chapel. After the photography team felt they captured all the pictures Tyler and Bailey requested and then some, the families piled into various cars and the limousine while the happy couple stepped into a horse-drawn carriage to go to the reception.

As soon as they entered the reception venue, Tyler grabbed one of the waiters and had him bring Bailey a small plate of some of the appetizers and a bottle of water. He knew it was essential for her to get something in her stomach and stay hydrated so they could thoroughly enjoy the rest of the evening. Bailey was very appreciative of his little gesture and gave him a peck on the lips and shared some of the delectable food with him. After the bridal party all had a drink and some food, the DJ started the introductions. Everyone cheered and clapped when he announced the newly married Mr. and Mrs. Tyler Seguin. Tyler took Bailey’s hand and twirled her around on the dance floor a few times. After all the introductions were done, the bridal party sat down placing Bailey and Tyler center stage for their first dance as bride and groom. They had Mateo choreograph a unique routine to Need To Breathe’s “Clear.” Everyone applauded the couple’s incredible dance after it was over before the couple moved on to the mother-son and father-daughter dances. Of course, more tears were shed while Bailey danced with her father. It was clear how hard her dad had worked in his therapy to make today special for Bailey. Everyone admired his courage and strength!

After the dances with their parents, Bailey and Tyler were once again attached at the hip as they walked around to mingle with all their guests before taking a brief break to enjoy their dinner. Freddy and Emily had everyone in stitches with their humorous toasts to Bailey and Tyler. While they were talking to Bailey’s parents, the DJ asked the happy couple to come back to the stage. Bailey was confused because it was too early for cake or to toss the bouquet, but she happily followed Tyler to the front of the room. Next thing she knows she hears an acoustic version of Green River Ordinance’s “Endlessly” and Tyler asks her to dance.

“You just couldn’t let it go,” Bailey giggled knowing Tyler had wanted this song to be their first dance since it was their song.

Tyler smirked, pulling Bailey closer to his chest as they swayed to the music. “I told you there would be lots of surprises.” Bailey didn’t realize the additional couple’s dance wasn’t the only surprise Tyler was referring too. It became clear when the band suddenly appeared gathering around her and Tyler with a live serenade. The group had everyone toast the happy couple after the song ended.

Bailey stood on her toes to give Tyler a loving kiss. “You really are over the top, but I am so happy you’re my over the top husband! Thank you!” Tyler laughed, gladly returned the kiss and told Bailey he loved her. The couple invited their guests to join them on the dance floor while the band played several more of Bailey’s favorite songs by them.

After Green River Ordinance completed their set, it was time to cut the cake. Bailey also couldn’t resist having some fun with the cake tasting as she smashed some of the wedding cake in Tyler’s face causing their guests to erupt in cheers and applause. Although he was tempted, Tyler was a good sport and didn’t retaliate as Bailey had made him promise when they were trying to decide on what flavor cake they wanted because she didn’t want her dress ruined. He did, however, get Bailey a little messy when he leaned down for a kiss before he cleaned his face with a napkin. After their little fun with the beautiful wedding cake, Bailey had her own surprise for Tyler and the guests. She had worked with the Bruins organization to have the Stanley Cup make an appearance at their wedding, which Bergeron carried out when the wait staff brought out the applesauce groom’s cake that was the spitting image of the Cup.

After all the traditional cake festivities the DJ began playing music and Bailey, and Tyler helped get the dance floor active again. After about 15 minutes, Bailey’s mother tapped her shoulder to let her know that she and Bailey’s dad were going to call it a night. Bailey and Tyler escorted her parents outside and thanked them for everything. Bailey's dad hugged Tyler and reminded him of the promise he made yesterday. While Bailey’s mom hugged her daughter and told her to just enjoy the rest of the night and take lots of pictures on their honeymoon. She said Bailey; she was in for the surprise of her life when she finds out where they are going.

“Wait, Tyler told you where we are going? He still hasn’t told me.”

“Bay your mom is one brilliant and sneaky lady! Your dad was right when he said I wouldn’t even realize she would get it out of me.” He wrapped his arm around Bailey’s shoulder and pulled her into his side.

“Well don’t leave me in suspense Momma, where’s he takin me?”

“Oh sweetie, I wish I could tell you, but I promised Tyler I wouldn’t spoil the surprise.”

“Seriously? Oh come on, Y'all are so frustratin!!!!” She stuck her tongue out at everyone in jest. Her parents and Tyler just laughed.

They spent a few more minutes laughing and talking before giving each other more hugs and saying they’d see each other in the morning during the family, bridal party, and out of town guests' brunch. After her parents left Bailey and Tyler walked hand in hand over to a bench. Once seated, Bailey wrapped her arms around Tyler’s forearm and leaned into his side. Tyler kissed the top of Bailey’s head during this somber moment as they both realized that was probably one of the last “normal” and happy moments they would share with Bailey’s dad.

A little while later, Sarah Kate came running outside. “Baywee, Tywer there you are. Come dance wif me. PWEASE! Pwetty pwease wif sugar on top!” She begged as she climbed into Tyler’s lap kissing him and leaning into him to cuddle.

Before Tyler or Bailey could respond, Mellissa came outside and hollered at Sarah Kate for running off and told her to stop bothering her aunt and uncle. Bailey assured her Sarah Kate was being sweet and was not bothering them at all. None the less, Melissa told Sarah Kate she needed to go back inside.

“You go with your mom, and I promise your aunt, and I will come dance with you in a few minutes,” Tyler told his favorite niece followed by a kiss on her cheek after she gave him a pouty lip. Sarah Kate shook her head in agreement and gave him another kiss before hopping off his lap to go back inside. “Bay, her pouty lip is just as powerful as yours. I’m in trouble if our kids get that trait too!” Bailey giggled before leaning into Tyler’s kiss. Bailey and Tyler spent a few more minutes of alone time before they headed back inside to dance the night away with their guests. As the night wound down and after they thanked all their guests Tyler and Bailey decided to call it a night. Tyler, of course, had another surprise in store for Bailey. As they walked through the arch their guests made with sparklers; fireworks lit up the night sky. Tyler helped Bailey climb into the horse-drawn carriage where they enjoyed the firework show before heading to their hotel. Once out of the carriage, Tyler whisked Bailey into his arms and carried her inside the hotel and not putting her down until they were inside their rose petal covered room where they enjoyed their first night as man and wife. They were so happy and in love!
