Double Date?
**Sidney’s POV**
“What the hell Zach? Where did you get those?” Tori asked her cousin as she reached for his phone. He quickly raised it above his head so she couldn’t reach it. She had always been shorter than her cousin, which in some cases worked to his advantage. Tori’s phone started ringing and after Zach realized it was Patrick he quickly snatched it out of her hand and held it above his head much like his phone. Tori’s phone buzzed with a text from Patrick. Zach felt the need to read it... out loud.
From PATRICK: “Hey babe, still up for lunch after practice? You didn’t answer and I know it’s before two but I thought I would try earlier just in case… but I’ll call again when I get to the United Center and I’m just about to leave for practice call me back when you get this.”
“Hey babe?!?!” Zach screamed which caused me to jump a little. “How long have you known him? Hmm? 2 days tops? Wow Tori... I thought I knew my cousin better.” Zach walked into the kitchen with his head down and shaking. Tori’s phone started ringing again and Zach answered. We quickly tiptoed to the door of the kitchen to listen to the conversation Zach and Patrick were going to have.
“Hey Patrick.” Zach said calmly into the phone. “No this is obviously not Tori… This is her cousin Zach Thomas.” He said chuckling into the phone slightly. “Can she take a rain check on that lunch? I need to talk to her and I don’t know how well it’s going to go. And if Jonathan is planning on asking Sidney, she’s going to have to take a rain check too. Sorry overprotective cousin mood has kicked in.” He had a devious grin on his face as the last sentence was said. “Yeah I’ll have them call you guys but no more clubs, and hands off her hips and the rest of her body. They both have gotten their hearts broken by hockey players and we don’t need to add your names to the list.” He started to open the refrigerator as he took the phone away from his ear and said goodbye to Patrick.
“Sorry girls no date. They have been rain checked” He tossed Toris phone to her and then turned back the refrigerator.
“And to think I actually thought you would have been happy that someone liked me for me and not trying to get closer to you or free tickets to your games.” Tori turned away to walk to her room, I could tell she was about to cry. She always bottles stuff up and this past month has not been very nice to either of us, and this was just going to top it all off. I had to prepare myself for the fight that was about to happen.
“Sorry to burst your bubble Tor but he is a professional hockey player and will break up with you when he finds a better option he’s going to dump you.” Zach said as he grabbed the milk out of the refrigerator.
“You should not have said that…” I mumble under my breath and turn and walk towards my bedroom to try and drown out the noise that’s going to erupt soon.
“What the hell Zach?! Are you saying that I’m not good enough for him? Am I just going to be his bitch for the next month and then he’s going to throw me to the curb?” I heard Tori scream form the kitchen.
‘Not the best place to have an argument with Tori, Zach’ I thought to myself as I listened to them bicker back and forth. Tori seems to grab the closest thing to throw at someone when she’s mad and wants to end an argument. She has thrown her heels, hair dryer, straightener, curling iron, and many other things. She is not the person to be around when she has her outbursts.
“No Tori, that’s not what I’m saying at all. You are a beautiful girl and deserve something better than him. This is coming from the whole family Tori, not just me.” Zach yelled as he walked past Tori and into the living. His steps were angry and loud.
Now started the water works for Tori. “Damnit Zach why can’t you ever just let me be happy and stay out of my relationships. This has been the third one in the past six months! Just stay out of my love life!” I heard her scream then sprint to her bedroom and then heard footsteps behind her.
“Tori I’m sorry” I heard Zach yell as he chased Tori down the hall. I poked my head out of my door just to hear tori tell him to stay out of her love life and slam her door in his face. “Please Tor, just let me in! I want to talk to you.” I came out of my room as Zach turned around to face me. He stared me down and then walked away.
“Girl talk time” I mumbled to myself as I knocked on her door.
“Go away.” I heard her yell in between sobs. The next thing I know she was opening the door. “Fuck Zach. I’m going to lunch with Patrick whether he wants me to or not. Are you coming or not? I already talked to Patrick and he said Jon was going to be there.” She almost whispered to me so that Zach wouldn’t notice till we were half way out the door.

I left my room and met Sidney outside of her bedroom door. “Wow you look cute.” She whispered to me as I reached her.
“Same goes to you.” I whispered back.

As we walked out into the living room where Zach was sleeping on the couch we quietly walked to the door just as Zach was waking up. “Hurry!” I whisper-yelled as we tiptoed through the kitchen so Zach didn’t see us. We opened and closed the door as fast as we could then sprinted down the hallway and to the conveniently opened elevator. As the doors were closing Tori and I watched Zach sprint down the hallway but wasn’t fast enough. Luckily we were only on the fourth floor so the elevator ride wasn’t too long so Zach wouldn’t catch up with us.
When we got down to the lobby Patrick and Jonathan were standing there, but not alone. It’s almost like they were hiding.
**Toris POV**
“Go back upstairs right now!” Zach screamed as he pointed towards the elevators. Patrick and Jon were standing there trying to sneak us around Zach.
I pushed Zach to the side as I went to give Patrick a hug. “Zach you’re more than welcome to join us, but I’m going out to lunch because I’m starving, and wanted to see Patrick.” I said as we were walking towards Patrick’s car with Jon and Sidney following behind us.
“Okay I’ll go, but I’m not paying.” This made us all start laughing. “Shotgun!” Zach screamed as he started to run past me and hanging onto the door handle.
“Hang on there loser, Patrick has to unlock the car door before you get into the car you idiot.” I tell Zach like he is still in high school. Once Patrick unlocked the door, Zach opened it as fast as he could then jumped in and locked it just as fast as he opened it.
“Who’s the loser now?!” He yelled to me through the open window.
“Guess who’s buying me lunch! Sucks to suck doesn’t it!” I yelled back, Zach started to slide down further into his seat. “O my god... he’s such a fucking idiot.” I whispered to Sidney, which made her burst out laughing.

When we got to the restraunt that overlooked Lake Michigan. We got a table for 5, Zach being the awkward 5th wheel. Lunch went pretty well, except for in between ordering and actually getting the food, overprotective cousin mode kicked in for Zach. Why? I thought to myself. Everything was going so smoothly! Then boom, “So you promise to never break my cousin’s heart?” or “Promise to not get her pregnant?” that was just the start for Patrick.
Zach decided to leave Patrick alone for a little bit and worked on Jonathan. I swear Sidney was about to kill him. She texted me cause we weren’t sitting next to each other. She kept telling me how he wasn’t even her cousin. I had to keep reminding her that we have been friends since like third grade when I gave her one of my cookies that I had at lunch. “If looks could kill,” Patrick whispered to me which caused me to look up and see Sidney death glaring Zach. I burst out laughing just as the food came.
As we were finishing up lunch Patrick offered to pay for everyone. Sidney and I went to the bathroom. “I’m honestly about to kill Zach… no joke. The next thing we know he is going to be pulling out our baby books or showing them pictures of our awkward stages in life.” Sidney whispered to me as we were washing our hands.
“Calm down Sid, that would mean he accepts them and as of right now, that’s never going to happen.” I said to her as we walked out of the bathroom to meet up with all the boys in main entryway. “Shotgun! Suck it Zach!” I scream as I sprint to the car like a little kid.
“Wow what a catch…” Zach whispered to Patrick.
“Ah yeah… she’s definitely a keeper.” Patrick said as he starts to look around.

Patrick and Jon dropped us off at the apartment, and I actually thought he was going to kiss me but no, of course not. “God Damnit Zach! You fucking ruin everything!” Sidney and I yell at the same time.
“Sorry guys but someone has to be the PDA police.” Zach replied with a smirk.
“Fuck you.” I said then turned around to hug Patrick goodbye.
“Calm down he’s just trying to protect you. He’s a good cousin and plays hockey, knows to try to warn you not to date a hockey player.” Patrick whispers in my ear and makes me giggle.
“I know just a little too overprotective sometimes. Thanks for lunch, next time it will be without Zach” I giggled.
“Anytime.” He replied with his famous smirk and got into his car with Jon in the passenger seat. The next thing I knew they were driving away.
We rode the elevator back up to the fourth floor where our apartment was. Zach had grabbed our extra key from above the door to get into the apartment. I turned the key in the lock and opened the apartment.
“What the hell?!” Sidney and I both said as we looked at each other.
