Make Me Believe You

*Brendan’s POV*

“You ready to go Bella?” I asked Annabella as I walked into our room only to see that she wasn’t in there. “Bella?” I asked as I opened the bathroom door. When I looked up I couldn’t help the smile on my face. “Hey Brendan.” She giggled as she stood in front of the mirror doing her makeup. “Hey baby.” I said as I wrapped my arms around her from behind and kissed the back of her neck. “You almost ready?” I asked as she finished putting on her eyeliner. “Almost I just have a couple more things to do with my makeup and then we can go.” She answered as she pulled out a tube. “What’s the tubey thingy?” I asked and she burst out laughing. “It’s called mascara babe. Tubey thingy? Really?” She asked as she twisted off the top and started putting it on her eyelashes. “Well I’m sorry I don’t know my makeup products.” I scoffed as she continued to laugh. “Well I just need to find my chap stick and then we can go.” She said as she rummaged around in her makeup bag and I headed for our bedroom. “Well in that case, I’m gonna bring your bag to the car so we can go as soon as you’re done.” I said as I grabbed her purple duffle and headed down the stairs.

When I came back in Jake and Matt were in the kitchen. “You and Bells leaving soon?” Jake asked as I sat down at the table. “When she’s done with her makeup.” I said as we all laughed. “At least she’s not as bad as my ex Sasha, she took literally hours to get ready. I’d go to her house at 10 in the morning to take her out to breakfast at a diner and she would take an hour and a half to get ready… for breakfast.” Matt said. “Mel takes the cake.” Jake said as Matt nodded his head. “Is she that bad?” I asked amused. “I remember one time Nate came over, it was right after Mel had gotten out of the hospital, and he was going to take her to the lake about an hour from here and there is never anyone there because the beach is like 45 minutes away so everyone goes there. Anyways, he came over and he sat in this kitchen with me for 2 hours while Mel was doing her hair and makeup.” Jake said as I sat there in amazement. “Honestly, I’ll never understand girls.” I answered. “I don’t think any man ever will.” Matt said and we all laughed. “We’re very complex creatures.” I heard from behind me as Annabella walked into the kitchen and over to the sink before grabbing a cup and filling it with water. “You ready to go?” She asked after she took a little white pill like she had every morning since she went to the doctor’s office. “Yeah, let’s go.” I answered as I got up and put my jacket on. “Have fun guys.” Matt said as he and Jake walked us to the door. “Yeah but not too much fun…” Jake said as an embarrassed and shocked expression appeared on my face. “Uh….” I stuttered as no one really knew what to say to that. “What? I don’t want my sister pregnant at nineteen too. Can you blame me?” He asked defensively. “Understandable.” I said and Matt nodded while Annabella was still standing there shocked. “And on that exceedingly awkward note, we’re gonna go.” I said as we closed the front door and headed for the car.

“Well that was embarrassing.” Annabella said after we had been on the road for about twenty minutes. “Yeah, but he’s right. I don’t think a baby would be the best idea right now.” I added as we turned onto the highway that lead out of town. “Well duh we already knew that. He thinks we’re idiots.” Annabella answered laughing. “No, he’s your big brother and he wants to protect you. No matter how much he likes me, he’s always gonna be trying to protect you, even from me.” I said. “I just hope I never give him any reason to need to protect you.” I added as she grabbed my hand and I turned to her and smiled.


*Annabella’s POV*

“This place is amazing Bren.” I said as we walked into the little cottage. I started wondering through the house as he went out to get our bags. I found the balcony and opened the door to the amazing view of the water. I stood there just taking in the breathtaking view when I felt a pair of arms wrap around me. “You like?” Brendan asked as I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, his familiar scent filling my nose. “I love.” I said as I turned to face him and he leaned down for a quick kiss. “Well we’ve got it for three days and then you go home.” He said as he bit his lip and I became confused. “I go home?” I asked. “I need to go back home for a couple weeks to help my dad with some stuff. It’s not a big deal but I want you to go home and spend time with your family, you don’t see them much.” He said as he rubbed my lower back. I let out a sad sigh. “Okay… I’m gonna miss you.” I said as I laid my head on his chest and he rested his chin on the top of my head. “I’m gonna miss you too, but its only two weeks. No big deal.” He said smiling down at me.

Little did we know that two weeks apart could change everything.
