Walking to the dog park next to their apartment with Juliet, it was a nice day for being so cold. They didn’t have a lot of time since they need to head back to UC for the game against the L.A Kings. Jon had his hand in his pockets in his jacket. As Addison was walking Juliet by her side. They didn’t talk until they reach the dog park. When Addison let Juliet off of her leash. She was ready to talk to Jon.
“Ok, let’s talk then."
“Addison I am sorry for not telling you about the letter. I just didn’t know when it was a good time to tell you. When I wanted to tell you a lot of bad things happen in the way for me to tell you.”
“When was the last time that you wanted to tell me?”
“I wanted to tell you a couple of weeks ago but that was when Kennedy was in the ER. I didn’t wanted you get stress even more with Kenned, the season and now knowing who is your real dad.” Addison looked into his eyes and deep down she knew that he was telling the truth.
“Are you mad at me?” Jon ask after a moment of quiet.
“At first I was because you should have told me the moment you got the letter or that you open something that wasn’t yours in the first place.”
“It was an accident. When I open the letter it had your name on it and I scan it because it came from your mom. When I got the letter I didn’t want to tell you this after we got our ass handed by Nashville.”
“Jon, it’s just a game and yes you know that I get over board when my feelings are after a lost to a game. Being my boyfriend you need to tell me these things.” Addison stop what she said and review what she just said to Jon.
“Boyfriend?”
“We have been going out for a couple of months now and I though since we slept together,going on dates and having a dog meaning that we are a couple, right?”
“Of course.”
“You told me on the phone that you love me. That’s a sign that your my boyfriend. I met your parents and David. What more things do I need to do to prove you that I’m your girlfriend. You haven’t slept with anyone else since I came on to the team.” Jon place his hands on her shoulders.
“You don’t have to prove anything to me. I though because since what I did. I though maybe you didn’t want to be my girlfriend.”
“No I still do but you have to gain your trust back and that doesn’t mean winning a lot of game. Sharpie told me that your trying to win every game till I stop being pissed at you.” Addison smiled. They both hugged it out and headed back to their apartment.
“So we play the New York Islanders and I was thinking do you want to go to New York on New years Eve and celebrate there.” Addison jump a little because that was a fun idea.
“Yes! I was thinking about the same thing but I didn’t know when the whole team was leaving.”
“I think Coach Q said that we are leaving on the 31." Once they got in, Jon and Addison were getting ready for the game tonight. They felt good since they are now on the same page. As Addison walked into the suite, Kennedy just got in and was on the phone with her mother. When Kennedy sat down and was looking through her tumblr.
“So I see that you two made up.”
“Yes we did but how did you know that?” Kennedy showed Addison what’s on her screen. People were taking photos of Jon and Addison at the dog park. Under the picture people were putting their comments on the photo.
‘Is this Jon’s girlfriend of the week or weekend?’
‘That’s a great idea Toews picking up chick at the dog park.’ Addison rolled her eyes and put them back on to the game.
“Have you told Jon about the job offered?”
“No not yet, I will tell him when I get to their office and see then. I don’t want him to think about that until when the time comes.” After a heart stopper of a game they did beat the Kings (1-0) thanks to Saad. It was also Raanta first shut out game too. Everyone was so happy for him. Now they are heading to New York to beat their next team, the New York Islanders and Jon has an idea up his sleeve. Kennedy was going to met us at New York for our New Years party she wouldn’t miss that in the whole world. In the morning it was the last day of 2013. It was weird for Addison because she felt like she just blink into 2013 sending by her self welcoming in 2013. Now she’s in New York in an amazing job and in a good relationship with Jon. Kennedy has a great job and Kaner on her side. As Addison was looking out of her window she was kinda of thinking of that spot at Portland but then she loves doing what she’s doing right now. Then her phone was ringing and cut her out of her thoughts. When she looked at the phone it was her mother.
“Hi mom.”
“Hi sweetie I wanted to tell you happy new years.”
“Well it’s still 2013 so your a little early about that.”
“I know that I am but I’m not going to stay up to count down. How are you? Did you have a good time with Jon during the Christmas break?”
“Well I had a some what Christmas break.”
“What happen?” ‘Should I tell her?’
“Well remember you ask me about a note a while ago?”
“Yeah.”
“Well Jon had it and I read it. I am upset right now at you mom.” It was dead quiet at the end of the line.
“Mom you have been lying to me my whole life about my farther and that the fact my boyfriend knew about this. He didn’t tell me because he didn’t want me to stress about this and my work. I was mad a him for a couple of days but I don’t know when I am going to forgive you about this. I might even change my last name because of you!” He volume of her voice went up because how upset she is that her mom did this to her. That she said this out loud to anyone.
“I’m sorry Addison. But you can’t stay mad at me, I’m your mother.”
“Yeah I know that your my mother, but a lying mother. Happy new year.” Then she hung up the phone and went to take a shower. After of taking her shower, she walks into her room and she sees a box all nice and wrap up for her. Addison pick up the card and it said.
“Come met me a level 52 around 9:30 PM and make sure you wear this outfit that I got you. Love Jon.” When she open the box she couldn’t believe how amazing it looks and can’t wait to try it on.
It was now 9:30 and Kennedy text her that Kaner is taking her some where in the city for their own New Years Eve party. Addison as on the elevator and they were playing her favorite song.Taro By Alt-J. It took a minute for her to get to the level 52. When the elevator open up the song change to Wanted By Hunter Hayes but one thing that made her breath hitch was that down the hall way it was line with candles. Walking down the hall way it lead into a living room and there was Jon in a tux.
“Wow you look more beautiful with the dress on.” Jon walked up to her and gave her a hug. He gave her a kiss on the lips.
“I needed to make up from what happen in chirstmas. Also this is only part 1. Do you remember how we met?”Addison laugh because she remember when they met. Not from the UC, it was from a Hunter Hayes concert. He was playing Hunter Hayes.
“I do remember when we met and how did you know that I love bow ties?" He grab her hand and he lead her to the kitchen with dinner on the table.
“A small birdie name Kennedy." The kitchen was full of candles and there was a table with steak and mashes potatoes. Red wine and champaign in it’s on bucket.
“When is part 2?"
“Soon.” As they sat down to eat, they talk about what they are going to do next year.
“So I talk to mom today.”
“How did she take it?”
“I don’t know I was in a huge hate mode on her that I didn’t hear her out. At this point Mom and I are completely different. She hates hockey and was upset that I took this job. Even thou she said she isn’t mad and happy for me. She just wanted her daughter to stay in Thunder Bay and be a stay at home mom, so she could see me having children.
“You still can do that you know, having children. Are you the same age as me?”
“Yea I am, were both a couple months apart. Sharpie and I are 7 years apart.”
“When is your birthday?”
“August 8.” Jon stop eating his food and laugh a little.
“So wait you were boring 8-8-88.”
“Yeah I know it’s kinda of funny isn’t it.” After dinner Kennedy text Addison an address for them to come.
“Come on Kennedy text me a great place to go to.” They got into a taxi and Addison told the driver the place is called.
“This is part 2 by the way.” Jon whisper into her ear.
“Kennedy said that a lot of Ranger’s go here and since we are playing the Islanders it doesn’t matter.” When they got there Kennedy and Kaner were waiting for them.
“Go my god Addison you look amazing.”
“Thank Jon put this outfit together.” Kennedy push Kaner.
“See I told you but you didn’t listen.” They all went inside the club and were having a nice time. They ran into Michael Del Zotto, Brad Richards and Brain Boyle. Addison though Jon was tall when she forgets that Brain was a little taller then Jon. Jon’s only 6’2 and Brain is 6’7. Addison mets these guys a while ago but it was still cool that they remember her. While Jon was getting drink Addison was talking to Michael and Brad. Addison was glad that she change her mind then she wouldn’t see the guys.
“So when is your next game?”
“At Pittsburgh on Friday. Pittsburgh once again is an amazing team it’s going to be hard. Who are the Blackhawks playing?”
“They play the Islanders on Thursday.” Jon grab Addison waist and pulled her to the side.
“Hey.” He said behind her ear.
“Hi.” Addison looked up and she can see that there was 15 seconds left till 2014 is here.” As they counted down, Addison didn’t care that another team was there, people with camares and that they are out in the open. Anything could happen what’s going to happen after the countdown.
“5,4,3,2,1! HAPPY NEW YEAR!” Everyone scream. Kennedy and Kaner had their moment and then a slow passionate kiss for Addison and Jon. Michael came over and shook Jon’s hand and gave Addison a hug.
“Good luck for the game and the new year.” Michael told both of them.
“Yea you too."
