Chapter 1
My name is Jake Belanger. I'm 16 years old, and I play hockey for the Kootenay Ice Major Midget team, based in Nelson, BC, Canada. Falling for my teammate's sister, was NOT planned.
But, there I was, staring through the glass at the pretty girl on the other side.
It was a bright Friday morning, and my hockey team was on the ice in Nelson for a practice before our game on Saturday against the Valley West Hawks.
My teammate Liam skated in front of me, temporarily breaking my gaze, and he flipped the girl a puck.
"Hey! Do you know her?" I asked casually.
"Yeah. That's my sister." He replied.
I couldn't do it. It was the ultimate sin to go out with your teammate's sister. It was right up there with forfeiting the finals, and using Reebok equipment!
"What do you think of her?" He asked. "How's she look?"
"Good." I admitted.
"She's into you." He told me. "She pointed you out to me, and asked about you."
"Wow." I said. "Why are telling me this?"
"Because, I want her to be happy, and if she's gonna have a boyfriend, I trust you." He said, and I nodded.
"So, what should I do? Ask her out?" I shrugged at him.
He nodded.
"OK." I said. "I'll do it."
