Boston's Girl

13

Riley awoke early the next morning to the sleeping man beside her. Slowly, she trailed her fingers on the contours of his upper body in hopes of waking him. To no avail he took another deep breath and rolled his body away from her. She sighed out of defeat and flipped the sheet off her naked body, scanning the floors for her clothes from the night before. Instead she decided on his button up that ended at the foot of the bed in the midst of all last night events.

Deceitfully she snuck away from the bedroom to explore his apartment a bit more. Being ever so sly, she let her feet gracefully glide across the hardwood floors she skimmed her fingers against all the photos and sport memorabilia that he collected before standing in front of large sliding door on looking the view of downtown Toronto. Lost in the view of the city she began to think about the events of the previous night.

She had been laying on his bed still clad in her powder blue dress from the wedding. Her mind had wandered to thoughts of him, as she could smell the strong hint of his cologne on the pillows beside her. She knew what their relationship consisted of, from day one when she was lost in the middle of nowhere in the garden, he had been the only to help her, from the time that she had gotten drunk and pushed him out of her apartment, he was still came back, and even throughout all the nightmares and the luggage that she carried from her past, he was always there. And from the butterflies that swirled around in her stomach she had a feeling that he always would be no matter what. She had sworn to herself though from the first day that Alex had hit her would she no longer let another man get as close to her again, she couldn't go through the pain that her past two loves have endured her. But from the gentle way that Tyler has held her after her nightmares and the easy way that he swayed her across the dance floor, she couldn't help but know that he was different from her past. He actually cared about her. This had her jumping from his bed with trembling feet to the closed door on the other side of the room. The door creaked as she opened it and she knew that he would've heard it and immediately wondered why she had gone to bed, but yet she still found herself unzipping her dress and allowing it to fall to the floor in front of him.
She had been people watching out the sliding door window, not hearing him sneak out of the bedroom that morning. He snaked his arms around her waist, causing her to jump bringing her back into reality.

"Mmm morning," she mumbled, as his lips attacked her neck.

He trailed his mouth from gape under her ear to her exposed collarbone, taking in the fabric that lay on her body. "That's my shirt," he said in lips still attached to her skin.

She smiled as she spun around, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Mhmm, it's comfy."

He pressed his lips to her forehead, "You look better in it anyway."

She pressed her lips to his, having the need to have them against her skin again before sauntering away from him toward the kitchen. "I know, are you hungry?"

He watched her walk away with the little strut that she had purposely put on just to tease him.

"I'm going to warn you though, I'm not a very good cook. So are eggs okay?"

He laughed as he joined her again wrapping his arms around her waist as she gathered what she needed.

He didn’t know why, but he just needed to have his arms around her. “Eggs are perfect.” He said placing another kiss on her cheek.

Riley rolled her eyes as she placed the eggs and butter down on the counter beside her.

“You know I can’t cook for you if you don’t let me go.”

His grip only grew tighter.

“But you’re so soft,” he whined, spinning her to face him again.

He had her pinned in his grasp, holding her gaze for what felt like five minutes but was really only thirty seconds before he reeled her in and captured her lips with his. He wanted to give her the most passionate kiss that she ever experienced, as he moved his hands to grasp a hold of her thighs a lift her effortlessly on the counter behind her still holding his lips to hers. They were eye to eye now, her eyes still closed, as she remained breathless in front of him.

She pressed her forehead against his, her heart thumping loudly in her chest as she ran her fingers through his hair at the nape of his neck. Her eyes opened now, reveling the greenish-blue orbs that were hidden. He sucked in a breath taken aback by just how beautiful she looked. The lighting hit her perfectly where her eyes lit up, and she smiled causing butterflies to race in his stomach.

She traced the contours of his jaw line with the tips of her fingers, eventually making her way to trace the outline of his lips. He flashed a half smiled at her, before taking her finger and gently biting down on it.

“Are you that hungry that you actually just bit me?” She laughed nursing her throbbing finger.

“You just looked so good,” he joked.

She shook her head. “I would bite you back but you smell really bad, so I think I’ll pass.”

His eyebrows rose as an idea popped into his head. Not knowing what he was thinking she just looked at him as his fingers trailed along the hemming of the fabric that sat on her skin.

“Tyler…” she pressed growing worried, as he hadn’t retaliated anything.

“I think we need a shower,” he said as he flipped her over his shoulder emerging giggles to escape from her throat.

They had made their way toward the airport that afternoon after getting dressed with many interruptions to cause them to almost miss their flight back to Boston.

“I’m going to miss Canada so much,” Riley sighed as she looked out the window of the plane.

Tyler lifted their connected hands and kissed the back of her skin.

“I’ll take you back I promise.”

“I think we should go to Greece! When the seasons over.”

She looked over at him with so much excitement in her eyes that he couldn’t help but let out a laugh. “If Greece is where you want to go, I’ll take you.”

She let her head fall into his shoulder, trying to get as comfortable as possible, the events of the prior evening finally beginning to catch up with her. He rubbed his thumb along her skin, soothing her to sleep.

“What do you wanna do for dinner tonight? I can cook for you,” she said her voice growing groggy.

He knew she was tired, as he placed a kiss a top her forehead. “Don’t worry about it, I’ll order us something when we land.”

She nodded against his shoulder her eyes fluttering closed, as she wrapped her arm around his giving it a squeeze. His lips lingered against her skin for a moment and for the first time in a long time she felt safe with the man beside her.
