Boston's Girl

“Are you sure you don’t mind staying with Marshall I can always hi-“

“Positive. Now will you go before the team decides to leave you behind!”

He raised an eyebrow at her pecking her lips quickly.

“Now if I didn’t know any better I’d think that you were expecting someone else. New boyfriend, maybe?”

She laughed at his absurdity. Even if there were someone else who was interested in her, she’d only want him.

“Yeah, he’ll be here any minute, so do you mind?” She walked away from him, sarcasm dripping in her voice.

He scooped her up quickly before she had a second to react and squirm away from him.

“Damn. And here I am thinking I had you all to myself.” He pulled her closer into his chest, the heat from their breaths bouncing off one another.

“He must be pretty special to want to compete with this.”

Tyler glanced down at their pressed bodies, taking in how she looked wearing his t-shirt from the night before. If he didn’t have to board a bus with a bunch of smelly guys in less than 45 minutes he would’ve taken her right then and there, with her front door opened and all. And never has he had a feeling like that before. The desire to need someone so badly that you just couldn’t wait to get them home and tear apart their clothes. He knew from the very beginning that Riley was different, but it was just taking him until that very moment to realize how different she actually was.

“He’s alright. I guess I like you better,” she smirked, looking up at him.

He pressed his lips against her forehead, closing his eyes for just a minute to take in how much he was actually going to miss her in the next three days.

“Well tell him he better keep his hands off, or there’s going to be a problem.”

She hummed, illuminating a laugh from her lips. “Oooh you’re so tough… It’s kind of sexy,” she smirked, toying with the hair that collided with his neck.

She was eyeing him. Taking in all of his features before he was about to disappear for three days. Starting with his deep chocolate brown eyes, eyes that she could literally stare into for hours if he’d let her. It was his eyes that told all his stories, words could only tell so much, but it was the way that his eyes lit up when he would talk would she really understand how passionate he was about something and that was something that drew her into him, his passion. If he weren’t so determined they probably wouldn’t have ended up together. Her eyes wandered a bit more, gently gazing at his plump lips, that sat pursed on his scruffy face. She ran her fingers over the contours of his beard that was rapidly growing as playoff season was beginning, feeling the scruff beneath her fingers. As much as she detested the “playoff beard,” for hiding his perfect lips, she couldn’t help but love the manly feature it added to his boyish face.

Without warning she grabbed a hold of his neck, her thumbs massaging just beneath his earlobes radiating a moan to escape from his throat. She drew him into her, their lips diving for one another like a magnetic force. His hands wandered up and down her body pulling her tighter against his chest, the heat from his body keeping her nearly naked one warm. He sent goose bumps running along her back and spine, a feeling that she still wasn’t used too after months of being together. She knew she had to stop. If they didn’t things would eventually lead to the bedroom, and he had a bus to catch in thirty minutes.

“I really hate you,” he grumbled.

She smirked, turning on heel. “I’ll see you when you get back! Love you!”

He grabbed his heavy hockey gear from the floor of her threshold and trudged down the stairs.

“Go Ty!” Riley sat there her eyes completely glued to the television screen, as the team her boyfriend played on competed to even the 2-1 score.

Tyler skated towards the net, taking a shot and just missing causing Riley to slump back down into her sofa causing her to take a long sip from her wine glass.

Marshall perked his head up from his bed just beneath her giving her one of his puppy dog stares.

“Sorry buddy, go back to sleep.”

She patted his head, resting the dogs nerves allowing him to put his head down to fall back to sleep.

“Wow! Look at you crazy girlfriend.” Brittany took a sip of her beer, the corner of her eye catching Riley’s rapidly reddening cheeks.

“Sorry, I just get so nervous for him.”

“It’s fine. I get it. When Fred watches these games he’s the same exact way.”

Riley took another sip of her wine, watching the highlights from the previous play as Bruins had taken a timeout.

“You look so happy Ril, I haven’t seen you like that in a long time.”

Riley had prevented her eyes from letting out the tears that were about to fall. Brittany had been through it all with her every beating, every tear; every bruise that Alex had ever given her, Brittany was always there in the end to pick up the broken pieces or to wipe away the dry blood from her mouth.

“Yeah, I am…”

The girls had fallen into a comfortable silence as the game resumed, with the last five seconds of the third period the tension was deep, and Riley could feel for Tyler. She knew how much pressure he was under to play his best and she could see it whenever he was at the Garden how irritable he grew with himself.

The buzzer sounded, and the bruins rounded off the ice Tyler being the first one off, which was unusual for him.

Riley sighed, taking the last sip of her wine and pouring some more from the bottle that sat next to her.

“Well I bet the sorry you lost welcome home sex is going to be fantastic,” Brittany said, taking a sip of her beer.

Riley could barely believe the words that came out of her mouth, but then again she could, it was something that Brit would say.

All she could do was nod though; taking another sip of her wine, trying to avoid what she knew was going to come up next.

“So I’m not going to get anything out of you? C’mon Riles we’re best friends we tell each other everything!”

“What do you want to know?”

“Anything and everything. Is he good? I mean just look at those muscle I bet he’s amazing”

“Okay, I think you’ve had too much to drink Brit…”

Brittany sighed standing from the couch she was sitting on causing Marshall to join her. Riley gathered the remains of the wine bottle popping the cork back on, and collecting the empty beer bottles.

“I think you’re right. I’ll see you tomorrow for lunch?”

Riley smiled before grabbing her friend into a hug and walking her to the front door.

“Text me when you get home, so I know you got in safe.”

She closed the door behind her blonde headed friend leading Marshall back into the living room where he plopped himself down on his bed.

The TV still continued the play highlights from the heartbreaking loss, Tyler’s face popping up on the screen a few more times than she would’ve liked giving Marshall a reason to let out a low howl, and a whimper as the picture disappeared.

“I know buddy, I miss him too.”

The knock on her door interrupted her thoughts, she sighed as she shuffled across the floor, knowing that it was probably Brittany on the other side. Marshall barked, as she reached for the doorknob another knock coming this time more forceful than the last.

The door swung opened, nearly knocking the air out of her lungs, and dropping her heart into her stomach.

“Hey baby, did you miss me?”
