Dear Patrick
Letter Forty-Seven
June 20, 2014
Dear Lana,
I wasn't surprised when you didn't come pick me up. I really hoped you would but I've adjusted to the disappearing for a couple of hours. All you ever tell me is that you went to visit that creepy old house that you were almost killed in. I don't know why you keep going back but you said the only way we're going to work is if I trust you and you trust me. You upheld your side of the deal so I'm doing the best to uphold mine but God damn it, Lana, it's been a lot more than a few hours this time. It's like two in the morning and you're still not here.
I know you're at the dumb house absorbing yourself in one of your dad's old journals where he confesses shit that you didn't (and probably shouldn't) know. I'm pretty sure if he wanted you to read them, he would have found you and gave them to you. So quit the whole 'He probably wrote them all because he wanted me to find and read them' bullshit. Come home. Anyway, I have a surprise for you. I can't believe we lost the Cup to the Leafs but that's what we get for underestimating them. They came out of absolutely nowhere.
We used to make fun of their losing streak and now they took the Cup. Oh man, I wanted it back-to-back so badly. But now all I want badly is you.
I wish you would just give me the address of that dumb place. At least so I don't have to freak out and I could stop by and make sure you're okay. I won't go in baby I promise. This writing letters thing actually really works because I feel a bit better. But not enough. So come on Lana. Don't make me go to sleep alone. This bed's too big for one person and I don't have the Cup to snuggle up with so at least let me take the real first place prize which is you. I'm waiting for you, okay?
Patrick
