Halloween.

@jneal_18: Sorry 2 all the trick or treaters 4 the small candy bars this year. promise they will be bigger next year. #halloweenlockout

Scrolling through her timeline, Abigail saw that James had posted a new tweet. Reading over it, she couldn't help but laugh at the hashtag he had used. Growing up around the Neals, Abi knew that there were two things that were serious to them: hockey and Halloween. But because being a smartass was in her nature, Abigail clicked reply and began to type.

@aBEEgail_: Congrats to @jneal_18 for being the worst house on the block this year #lockoutschmockout #couldhavedonebetter

After hitting send, Abigail smiled and went back to the story she was trying to edit. A minute later though, her half-ass attention was pulled from the book to her phone. Unlocking it, she saw that James had sent her a direct message. PullingGoogle Chrome back up, Abigail quickly logged back into Twitter, heading straight to her profile where she saw an annoying blue dot signaling to the message. Opening it, she couldn't help but laugh.

Direct messages> with James Neal

@jneal_18: Abigail Elaine Martin, you listen here you sarcastic twerp, instead of stalking me on Twitter, why don't you just call me.

@aBEEgail_: Fine, I will

Pick her white iPhone back up, Abigail called the familiar number and waited for him to pick up. Not even seconds later, she heard his voice. "If I wasn't convinced before, I am convinced now," he told her.

"Convinced about what?" she asked in an innocent voice.

"I'm convinced that demonic sarcasm runs through your veins," James told her.

"Oh James," she said with a laugh. "You should have realized that a long, loooong time ago. I am starting to believe Michael when he says that he is the smartest one," Abi said, not able to resist adding that in.

"Har, har," he said back. "So, what are you doing for Halloween?" He asked. The township that Abigail lived in had pushed trick-or-treating back a couple of days due to concerning weather.

"Uhm, standing outside and handing out candy."

"Hm, sounds fun."

"Yes, the most fun I'll have until Christmas," she said in a sarcastic tone, flicking a piece of lint of the leg of her jeans. "You are more than welcome to come over and help me, y'know, redeem yourself," Abigail told him.

"Sure, why not," James told her before finishing up their conversation and then hanging up. This should be fun, he said to himself.

Abigail had come home from work as soon as she could and immediately pushed work to the side, it could wait. Eating a quick dinner, a hoagie and some potato chips, Abi began setting out the candy and pop that she had purchased for the trick-or-treaters. Before taking everything outside where it would stay for the rest of the night, Abigail changed into her Halloween best before picking her phone up.

@aBEEgail_: Can't wait to see all of the little trick-or-treaters tonight with my guypal @jneal_18 #hopefullyhedoesnotscarethem #tgif

After putting her phone back into her pocket, Abi started to take the things out on to the front porch, seeing as the little kids would be showing up in about five minutes. While making her second trip, Abigail saw James' flashy BMW pulled into her driveway, right in front of her dinky little Kia Rondo.

"Hey James," she hollered out to him as he was departing the black car. "Just in time."

"I'm here, no need to fret."

"Trust me darling, I wasn't fretting, just getting ready to rest my hands while you take all of that stuff out," she told him, motioning her head towards all of the Halloween supplies.

"Okay, but this deserves a beer," he told her before bending down and grabbing twice the amount of things that she could've grabbed.

"Yeah, after this is over. I do not want anyone from the neighborhood coming over to my house and complaining about some drunk man who gave candy to their children," Abigail hollered out the door just loud enough for him to hear.

"Good point," he said back to her before straighting up and pulling out his phone. Clicking on the Twitter app, James tapped on the 'new tweet' button and began typing.

@jneal_18: Round 2 of trick-or-treating tonight, let's hope this goes best than before, eh @aBEEgail_ #redemption

Abigail felt her phone vibrate in her back pocket before pulling it out. Reading over the tweet, Abigail laughed over it for about a minute before clicking the retweet button and watching as the tweet lit up in green. Joining James on the front porch, she snapped a quick photo of the two of them before the first group of kids started to arrive.

Once everything was over and done with, Abigail hit her hip off of the door in order to open it. Handing one of the cold brown bottles to her companion sitting in half of the black rocker, she took the other seat beside him before taking a sip of her beer. The two sat in silence, watching as houses turned their lights off one by one.

"We did good," James said before hitting his bottle off of her's. Taking a sip, he swallowed before wrapping his arm around her and pulling her in for a hug.

"That we did," Abigail agreed with him before pulling out her phone and clicking the Twitter app.
