I got on a plane that was headed for Chicago with Jon, Rose, Pat and Charlotte. As we were boarding it seemed if Jon would never leave my side, he had been this way since I got out of the hospital. I got to my seat and Jon sat next to me. Rose and Pat were in front of us and Charlotte was to the side of me. As the plane filled up I felt my eyes getting heavy. The next thing I knew I was asleep on Jon's shoulder.
*Rose's P.O.V*
I looked back and saw Amy asleep and smiled. She needed all the sleep she could get in the next nine months. I readjusted myself in the seat and looked at Pat. He gave me a weak smile and I could see dark circles under his eyes, Sochi hadn’t been good one him sleep wise. After a few minutes he passed on with his head on my shoulder.
As I ran my fingers through his hair as he slept and thought of our relationship. It had been a bumpy few months with Pat so busy with the NHL and the USA Olympic preparation. I let out a sigh as I thought how really our relationship was just based on how our sex life was, it sucked. I really wanted something more serious than just a “Hey babe lets have sex” kind of relationship with him, I wanted cuddling by the fire or under the stars. Kind of like something you read about in those cheesy romance novels. I rested my head against the plane window and a single tear fell down my face, things needed to change or I was going to leave.
When the plane landed I woke up Pat. “Come on Pat. We’re back in Chicago.” I said unbuckling my seat belt since the sign went off. He sighed as he woke up and yawned. I smiled, “Morning sleeping beauty.” He gave a little laugh and unbuckled his seat belt and leaned over and gave me a kiss. Maybe this was a sign for hope for Pat, he hadn’t rubbed my thigh or anything he just kissed me like a normal boyfriend.
*Amy’s P.O.V.*
I woke up to a little nudge from Jon and him saying, “Hey babe you got to get up the planes landed.” I loved when Jon said that to me, it always made me feel loved. I opened my eyes and saw Jon’s shinning brown eyes staring at me. I groaned, “But I was having such a good dream.” Jon smiled at me, “Oh? So what was it about?” he asked leaning in and kissing me. I kissed back, ”Pretty much just about how much I love you.” I saw a huge grin come across his face and we both got up as they started letting people off the plane.
I leaned against Jon as we walked through the airport still pretty tired. I felt his arm wrap around my waist which made me smile, because I knew he was telling all the other girls that I was his and he was mine. We headed down to the baggage claim area and once we got our bags we headed back to Jon’s place. I waived bye to Pat, Rose and Charlotte as Jon and I headed to a taxi area.
Once we got to Jon’s place I was half asleep. I stumbled into the apartment and made my way to the bedroom. I didn’t even bother to get under the sheets, I just lied down and fell asleep.
*Jon’s P.O.V.*
I walked into the room and saw Amy already passed out on the bed, not even under the covers. I smiled and set my suitcase in the room, slid off my jeans and put on some sweatpants. I opened the closet and grabbed two blankets and a pillow. As I got them I could hear the soft breathing of Amy as she slept. I made my way over to Amy and put one of the blankets over her and kissed her head and made my way to the living room to sleep on the coach.
When I got to the coach I laid down the pillow and lied down pulling the blanket over me. I closed my eyes trying to sleep. I couldn’t stop thinking about how close I was to losing Amy and my unborn child because of a hockey accident. I was determined to make sure something like that wouldn’t happen again ever. As I thought I slowly fell asleep.
*Rose’s P.O.V.*
When Pat and I got back to his place I was pretty tired. “Hey babe I’m guna meet Shaw at the bar you wanna come?” Pat said putting his suit case down. “I’ll pass I’m pretty tired. You go ahead, tell Shaw I say hi.” I said setting my suit case down. He came over to me and kissed me, “Alright. I’ll be back later.” he said as he grabbed his coat and left.
Once Pat had left the room I slid out of my clothes and put on some pajamas. I crawled into Pats comfy bed yawning. I was so tired that I didn’t even think of seeing if Shaw was actually meeting Pat at the bar for some drinks or not. I just got under the covers and slept without thinking.
*Charlotte’s P.O.V.*
I got back to my apartment and set down my stuff. The accident kept running through my mind and it still terrified me. I still couldn’t believe what had happened to Amy. As I got into my room I thought I heard someone in the kitchen. I felt the hairs on my neck stand up straight. I opened the drawer next to my bed slowly making sure not to make a sound and pulled out a small hand gun. I didn’t live in a safe neighborhood so this was normal.
I slowly made my way out of my room and made my way to the kitchen with the gun in my hands. The only reason I would ever use this is for self protection don’t get me wrong. I made it to the corner before the kitchen and peeked around the corner and my heart almost stopped. I saw a man about 6 foot tall dressed in all black standing in my kitchen.
He must have seen me because he ran straight at me with a kitchen knife. Once he was right near me he saw the gun pointed straight at him and he booked it out of my apartment. I ran straight for the phone and called the cops then I called Andrew. When Andrew picked up the phone he sounded confused. “Charlotte? What’s up?” I heard his voice and in the background I could hear bar music. I was sobbing as I told him what happened and I told him that I was so scared and I needed him. “I’ll be right there.” he said and he hung up the phone. I sat on the couch and rocked myself back and forth with the gun right next to me on the table.
*Andrew’s P.O.V.*
I set down my phone and I felt my face go white. “Man are you okay?” Pat asked me. I shook my head no, “Someone broke into Charlotte’s apartment. She’s freaking. I gotta go.” I said and got up grabbing my jacket. Pat just nodded because he understood that Charlotte meant the world to me.
I headed out of the bar and to Charlottes. When I got there I made it to her apartment and she was standing outside of it talking to some police officers. When she saw me she ran to me and hugged me tightly. I hugged her back thankful she hadn’t been hurt. We walked back towards the police officers and she finished the story. “We’ll do what we can to find this guy.” the officer said. I had my arm wrapped around Charlotte and thanked them for responding so quickly.
Charlotte and I made it back into her apartment and we headed to the couch. I sat down and let her curl up next to me and I wrapped my arm around her. As she cried I did my best to calm her down. We stayed that way for the rest of the night, neither of us could sleep.
*Pat’s P.O.V.*
I sat in the bar alone since Andrew had to go comfort Charlotte. I sat there taking small swings off the beer I had. Seconds turned into minutes and I couldn’t help but notice this tall brown haired, blue eyes girl checking me out. I did my best to ignore it. I had Rose that’s all I needed. I kept taking more swings trying my best to ignore her. I will not become the old Patrick again. When I finished that beer I got up and got another then sat back down.
As I drank the beer I still noticed her checking me out. I did my best to keep my head down and ignore here but she was wearing a mini skirt and a very small tube top. “Don’t you even think about it Pat.” I said to myself taking more swings and getting more beers in me, which was a stupid idea.
After about 6 beers she finally came over to me. I tried to keep my head down and ignore her. “Hey, I’m Becky.” she said, I looked up and took another swing. Fuck. Here it goes…
“Hi, I’m Patrick.” I said looking at her.
