The next morning, Adam woke up to the feeling of soft fingers lightly drawing circles on his forearm. Opening his eyes, he looked down at Liz who was tangled in the sheets of his bed, cuddled into his side with her eyes closed. He lightly brushed the hair off her forehead, and she opened her eyes to the touch. "You didn't try to run away this time."
She smiled up at him, sleep still present in her eyes. "You were too good of a pillow last night."
He chuckled and placed a kiss on her forehead, pulling her closer to him. "Oh I see how it is. Is that the only thing I was good at last night?"
"Fishing for compliments already? Boy, you waste no time."
"I like to call it timely feedback."
She looked up at him with a quirked eyebrow and a light smirk. "Feedback, really?"
He chuckled again and leaned down to steal a kiss. She put her head back down on his chest and sighed.
"Well lets just put it this way, if you weren't good, I wouldn't still be here."
He moved his hand so his fingers could reach her skin and brushed her bare side lightly tickling her, "and the real reason comes out."
She flinched, groanig, "no tickling this early in the morning. Not fair."
"Fine, fine. I'll be nice. Just this time though."
She smiled against his chest, closing her eyes. "It's greatly appreciated."
Liz was quiet for a few minutes, enjoying the feeling of the moment. She thought about the last twenty four hours, thinking about how good she felt around him. She smiled slightly at the thought, which did not go unnoticed by Adam.
"Why so smiley?"
"No reason, just... comfy, that's all."
He smiled at this, running his hand up and down her arm. "Me too."
"We should stay like this aaaaaall day."
"Sure, just let me call up coach and tell him I'm not showing up for the game tonight." He said with a chuckle.
"Perfect, I'm okay with having you to myself all day." She looked up at him a smirk playing on her lips. "I'm sure we could figure out something to do."
"Don't tempt me. Speaking of the game," he looked over at his clock, which read 9:30. "I have practice in an hour and a half."
The smirk that was on her lips quickly turned to a slight pout. "I guess this means you want breakfast."
He smiled and kissed her. "Gotta make it a tradition, babe."
Liz was slightly caught off guard by his use of the term babe, but she slid to the side of the bed, grabbing his button down from the night before throwing it on and buttoning the top couple of buttons. She stood up, and looked over at Adam who was still laying in the bed looking up at her. "Enjoying the show?" She bent down grabbing his boxers and throwing them at him. "You might be getting breakfast, but it ain't breakfast in bed!"
He watched her as she walked out of the room, sticking her tongue out at him as she passed the doorway. Quickly he pulled on his boxers and followed her out to the kitchen. Moving to the fridge he pulled everything out as she got the bowls and pans out. As she started mixing everything together, Adam got the pan heated and the plates out before coming up behind her and wrapping his arms around her waist, kissing the side of her neck.
"You know, we make a pretty good team."
Smiling she leaned back into him a little. "What are you getting at here, Mcquaid? You're already getting breakfast made for you."
He didn't respond to this yet, not quite knowing how, so he just stood with his arms around her enjoying the feeling. After a few moments, Liz looked up at him.
"You okay?" He didn't say anything, he just leaned down to kiss her.
"You should stay here while I'm at practice, come to the game with me tonight."
"That sounds nice, but I have to study. Exam."
She noticed the disappointed look on his face and she reached a hand up to his cheek.
"Or you could drop me off at home during practice, I'll shower, change and grab my books and you can grab me on your way home? Then I can study at your place until the game?"
He smiled, kissing her again. "That sounds like a plan."

After breakfast, Adam drove Liz home and headed off to practice. Walking in the dressing room, he earned a smirk from Dougie who had crashed at one of the other guys the night before.
"Good night, Quaider?"
Before he could answer, Tyler turned around smirking.
"Oh yeah, big date last night! Get her to go home again, man?"
"You're ridiculous, man."
"I tried to get her to sleep with me for months and got nowhere." Brad piped up from the corner. Turning around to his bench, he ignored the comment from Marchy, before hearing, "alright guys, he doesn't chirp you assholes whenever you bring girls home, and unlike you assholes he actually stays with them for more than one night."
Patrice was standing in the middle of the room with a stern look on his face, not impressed with the attitude from some of the younger member of the team. Adam turned back to his bench ready to get his equipment on when he felt a hand on his shoulder, turning he saw it was Patrice.
"Thanks, I've been getting that shit for a week now."
"They're just jealous, I'm pretty sure they've all tried to go for Liz over the course of the past few years."
He paused for a second a little shocked about hearing that fact, but continued. "She's pretty amazing."
Patrice smiled, "she puts up with these guys voluntarily, of course she is." He chuckled, patted Adam on the shoulder again and headed back to his bench.

A couple hours later, Adam sat in front of Liz's building waiting for her to come down. He stood outside the car, in front of her door and smiled when he saw her coming through the door, books in hand. Walking to her, he grabbed the books from her hands and opened her door. She had a look on her face, the same one she had the last time he opened the door for her, but didn't say anything. Handing her back her books, he went around to his side and got in the car. She looked over at him, hair still damp from post-practice shower and leaned over to kiss him. She crinkled her nose, and leaned back over to her seat. He chuckled at the adorable look on her face and quirked an eyebrow.
"What?"
"Hockey player stink."
"Hey, I showered."
"You should know better than anyone that shit doesn't come out! It's perma-stink."
"Perma-stink, that's a new one!" he chuckled pulling away from the building.
"Can't help the fact!" She pulled one of her feet up under her, turning to face him more. "How was practice?"
He shrugged, "not bad."
She raised her eyebrows, "not bad doesn't win games, mister."
He chuckled looking over at her quickly, "what are you, the coach?"
"I could be! I like to yell."
"How about no yelling and just studying for you this afternoon?"
She sighed dramatically. "Ugh, fine. Ruin my hopes and dreams!"
"Well, if you get lots of studying done, I may just have something for you."
She squinted lightly, raising an eyebrow. "Are you sure you're not just playing it off as something for me, but its really pre-game sex for you?"
He laughed out loud at that comment, shaking his head. "No. But that's not necessarily a bad idea if you want me to win a game."
"You don't do pre-game sex, you withhold until after the game so then you really have something to fight for." She smirked. "Geeze, you're the hockey player, you'd think you knew that already!"
"I like the way you think. But nope, that's not what I have for you. And you don't get to find out until after studying!"
They pulled into his parking lot, and she groaned as he opened the door for her. "That's really not fair you know, you expect me to actually get work done with you around?"
"You know how you explained the whole withholding so more work gets done thing? Same can apply to you too." He smirked down at her as they walked into the building.
"Damnit. I was kinda hoping you wouldn't think that one up."
Two hours later, Adam looked at the clock noticing that it was now 4:30 meaning he was going to have to leave for the Garden soon. Getting up off the couch beside Liz, he went to the kitchen grabbing his keys off of the counter and heading to the door yelling a quick "be right back" to Liz, who still had her nose in her books. Getting on the elevator he headed down to the parking lot, when he reached his car he popped the trunk and grabbed the jersey he had threw in it earlier out. Smiling down at it, he headed back upstairs. When he walked back through the door, he put the hand that held the jersey behind his back, put his keys in his pocket, and headed back over to the couch.
"Got enough studying done to come to the game tonight?" He said leaning over the back of the couch, resting his elbow on the top.
Liz closed her book and looked up at him. "I'd say 3 hours solid is pretty good, yeah."
He smirked at her, and tossed the jersey over the front of the couch. She looked down at it, then picked it up looking at him with a questioning look as she turned it around to see that it was his name and number on the back. She stared at it for a second before she turned back to him.
"My surprise?"
"Didn't want you wearing that shitty number 19 to another game. People were gonna start thinking you actually liked the guy or something."
She chuckled throwing the jersey over her head.
"Sorry if it's got perms-stink. It's an older one, but they should have still dry cleaned it."
She looked up at him, pulling her other arm through the hole.
"Wait up. This is one of YOUR jersey's, not like bought from the gift shop jersey? Like worn on the ice jersey?"
He looked at her a little confused. "Well we do get new ones every season…"
She looked down at the jersey she was wearing and then back up at him, narrowing her eyes slightly.
"Nice move McQuaid. Nice move."

You aren't a horrible person!! Life happens, and it's okay to have taken a break. But now, if you're back, I'm so happy for updates to start coming back!!
I think that in a traditional sense, an engagement/wedding/etc. would come next. That's always an option to explore for Adam and Liz. If not, maybe just some good old-fashioned drama (car accident? hockey collision? sick baby?? ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES)
Honestly, I'll be happy to read anything about the McQuaids at this point. Just take your time and things ideas may come! :) :) :)
