Keeping Her Word

"I have never been happier to leave that arena."
Adam looked over at her confused, "Why? I didn't think we played that bad."
She chuckled softly and looked over at him. "Not because of the way you played, but because if one more person pointed out the fact that I was in your jersey and not Segs, I was going to lose my shit."
A concerned look crossed his features and he took his hand off the wheel grabbing for hers. "They gave you a hard time about it?"
She sighed, "Not a hard time per say, just every single girl in that box had to point out the fact."
He gave her a sympathetic smile and stroked his thumb over her knuckles, "if it makes it any better, you don't have to wear it to the next game if you don't want to."
"Why would I not wear it? Just because a few girls try to make something of it? I liked wearing your number."
Still looking at the road, he smiled and replied, "Good, because I liked you wearing it."
She chuckled, "you barely even saw me in it!"
"Maybe not, but I definitely had the image of you in it in my mind during the game."
She smirked at him, "Mr. McQuaid, that's not what you're supposed to be thinking about during the game."
He returned her smirk, "Well you know, that whole giving me something to fight for tactic, worked quite well."
"So is that why you got into that nice brawl tonight?" She chuckled, sliding her hand over to his leg, placing it mid thigh.
He sighed as she moved her hand a little higher on his leg. "If you want to get us in an accident, that's the way to do it."
"Just letting you know that I do keep my word." She smirked, taking her hand off of his leg and running it through her hair as he turned into the parking lot of his building. When they got to his spot, he shut the car off and walked around to her door opening it for her, as soon as she got out he grabbed her by the waste pushing her up against the side of the car kissing her deeply. After he pulled away he let out a sigh and smirked.
"You have no idea how long I've been wanting to do that."
She smirked, "Oh I might have some idea. But how about we take it inside instead of the parking lot?"
"Party pooper," he smirked and started walking towards the building.
She chuckled and followed him towards the building, as soon as they got inside the doors he turned picking her up pinning her against the wall.
"We're inside," he breathed in her ear.
"In the literal sense, but we need to get upstairs."
He backed up from the wall, not letting his grip go on her so she wrapped her legs around his waist and her arms around his neck. She smirked at him, playing with the hair at the base of his neck.
"You know, I'm starting to think you like carrying me everywhere."
"If it gets me this close to you, of course I do."
Stepping in the elevator, she attached her lips to his again and they remained that way until reaching his door, when she broke away reaching into his pocket and grabbing the keys holding them in front of his face. He grabbed them from her fingers as he kissed her again, and fumbling for the lock. Finally getting it open he walked them in closing the door behind them and pushing her up against it.
"There, we're in. Happy now?"
"Yep, now shut up and kiss me."
Obeying her order he closed the space between them and planted a firm kiss on her lips. After a few minutes he moved his hands so they were under her ass supporting her as he pulled them away from the door walking towards his room. As they walked she started to fumble with his tie, undoing it and pulling it from around his neck. As she pulled the tie away she moved her lips to his neck. They were finally in his room and he moaned at her lips on his neck as he pulled her away and lightly tossed her back on his bed. She smirked sliding up the bed so she was at the top, as he knelt on the bed in front of her he reached out for her but she hopped up shaking her finger at him.
"Ah, ah, ah. Keeping my word, remember?" She turned around walking towards the door, he sat up and looked at her.
"Then where do you think you're going?"
"Patience, McQuaid. Patience." She smirked back at him over her shoulder as she sauntered out of the room.
He leaned back on the bed, taking in the view of her walking away with his number on her back enjoying every second. After she was out of the room he laid on his back putting his arms behind his head waiting for her to come back. A few minutes later he heard her clear her throat from the doorway and propped himself up on his elbows. When he saw her, his eyes widened and he stared at her with a gaping mouth. She stood leaning in the doorway in nothing but her jersey, hair taken out of its previous pony tail and cascading in curls around her face. Taking in the look on his face she smirked and raised her eyebrows.
"So how's this for making use of an over sized jersey?"
Still staring at her with his mouth hanging open, he was unable to form sentences and just nodded at her. At this action her smirk grew and she walked over to the bed, kneeling on the foot of it.
"See, there's something I forgot to mention earlier."
Finally able to form sentences, he sat up moving closer to her. "And what's that?"
She crawled up to him on her knees, straddling his waist and placing her hands on his shoulders, putting her lips beside his ear.
"I think it's incredibly hot when hockey players fight."
Closing his eyes enjoying the feeling that came over him as she whispered that, he grabbed her waist pulling her down so he could see her face.
"Then don't be surprised if my penalty minutes go up."
She smirked at him, pushing him down on his back, "you know exactly what to say, hotshot."

Liz woke up the next morning to the sound of a door being opened. Rolling over, expecting to come face to face with Adam, she was greeted with an empty bed. Furrowing her eyebrows, she sat up in a sleepy daze and saw Adam standing at the door in his Bruins sweat pants with no shirt looking at her apologetically.
"Sorry, I tried not to wake you."
She smiled softly at him, yawning. "It's okay. Running away from me?"
He chuckled closing the door slightly, "after last night, I don't think I would be able to."
She smirked and he walked over the bed, climbing back in brushing the hair away from her face tucking it behind her ear. "That was really hot, you know."
"Really, I had no idea. The fact you couldn't form a cohesive sentence did not tip me off at all."
They both chuckled and he leaned in kissing her deeply. She melted into the kiss never wanting it to end and never wanting to get out of that bed.
When he pulled away she sighed lightly, "I vote good morning kisses happen more often."
He chuckled again kissing her forehead. "That would be nice, but it'll have to wait for about a week…"
She looked at him confused, and the doubt started to creep up, although she tried her best to suppress it. He noted the look on her face and flopped back down on the bed looking up at her.
"We've got road games for the next week."
She frowned, leaning over him. "How am I supposed to reward you on a game well done if you're not here?"
"Trust me, no one is more bummed about that than I am."
She chuckled and leaned down to kiss him, "we'll figure something out." She laid down beside him, resting her head on his chest. He protectively wrapped his arm around her pulling her flush to his side and she closed her eyes enjoying the closeness. "When do you leave?" she mumbled into his chest.
She felt his chest rise and fall as he sighed, "This afternoon."
"You know, that's not necessarily a bad thing."
"What, you trying to get rid of me now?"
She chuckled, "Damn it, you caught me."
He pinched her side and she giggled swatting at his hand as he kissed the top of her head.
"I have class this afternoon and my test later this week, I'll actually be able to study instead of you distracting me."
"I wouldn't distract you if I knew you had to study."
She propped herself up slightly looking at him, smirking. "Who says it's you I'm worried about?"
He chuckled, "Aaaah, wouldn't be able to keep your hands off me, huh?"
"To put it lightly," she chuckled, "I mean, have you seen you? You're pretty distracting."
Laughing he pulled her back down to his side, "you're ridiculous."
She shrugged, "just being honest!"
As they both shared a laugh, they heard the door creaking open and Dougie's voice from the other side.
"Hey man, we have to be at the airport," they could tell he had finally looked up when he stopped mid-sentence. "Oh shit, I'm sorry. I knew- I'm sorry." He closed the door, both of them breaking out into laughter at the embarrassment dripping in his voice.
"You know, one of these days I'm going to have to introduce myself when I'm not the girl you took home from the bar, or naked in your bed."
He laughed, getting up out of bed again. "With his luck, I'm not sure if that's ever going to happen. But he's right, have to be there in 2 hours and I haven't even packed yet."
She propped herself up on her elbow looking over at him as he opened his closet to pull out some clothes, "now whoever's fault could that be."
He turned around flashing her a smirk and she got up out of bed grabbing the jersey off the floor and putting it over her head. He turned around again to ask her something and stopped when he saw the sight of her in only his jersey again.
"You know, I think that's my favourite outfit on you."
She smirked walking over to him, "well you know, in all honesty you really haven't seen me in that many."
He wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her close. "I can't say that I'm complaining." He bent down kissing her and she pulled away, heading for the door.
"Better go get dressed, I do have class in three hours." She sauntered out of the room and down the hall to the bathroom.
Ten minutes later she walked back into Adam's room dressed in the clothes she was wearing last night, still wearing the jersey. He was standing at his dresser pulling out more clothes to put in the suitcase and she walked over to the bed and sat down on it, pulling her legs up under her indian style.
Still facing the dresser he asked her, "So will you still be around when I get back?"
"Will you still want me around when you come back."
The words were out of her mouth before she could even think and she could already feel the blush creeping up her cheeks at the bluntness of the sentence.
He looked over his shoulder at her and when he noticed the blush on her cheeks he turned around to face her.
"It would be preferable if you were."
"Well all you have to do is say the word."
"Alright then, go out with me next Sunday."
"As in go out out, or come back here?"
"Out out." He chuckled, "as in a date."
"Second date. I think I can handle that."
"Good." He walked over to her standing in front of her. "Cause I think I really like you."
She felt the blush coming back up on her cheeks, but this time it was the familiar blush she had felt around him before. Looking down at the floor she started to reply, "I think I really like you too." She looked back up at him and he was smiling down at her. He bent down, putting his fingers under her chin to tilt her head up to him and kissed her.
"That's exactly what I wanted to hear."

You aren't a horrible person!! Life happens, and it's okay to have taken a break. But now, if you're back, I'm so happy for updates to start coming back!!
I think that in a traditional sense, an engagement/wedding/etc. would come next. That's always an option to explore for Adam and Liz. If not, maybe just some good old-fashioned drama (car accident? hockey collision? sick baby?? ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES)
Honestly, I'll be happy to read anything about the McQuaids at this point. Just take your time and things ideas may come! :) :) :)
