Captains Come First

Chapter 30

Heather ended up driving the rental back to the Crosby's. Troy was going to pick up Taylor. Trina told Sid and Heather that they both looked tired and should go home. "I'll stay." Sidney had said to his mom. "You go home and rest." He kissed Heather on the forehead.

"Are you sure?" She asked him looking into his eyes.

"Positive." He smiled. On the drive back it had Heather thinking. What was she waiting for? Life was too short. If James wasn't ready to say he loved her but she was she just needed to go for it. Maybe he'd never be ready for it. She had an idea. Heather got home and grabbed her iPhone. She decided to FaceTime James. She did promise that she'd call later after all. On the third ring it connected. She saw James' face sitting in a restaurant.

"Oh God I'm so sorry..." Heather said remembering that the guys would be having dinner getting ready for the game. "The game how could I forget?"

"It's ok Babydoll." James said smiling. "I'm just happy to see your face." He smiled causing Heather to smile. She heard Paul Martin asking who was on the phone. "It's Heather guys, say hi." He said as the table let up a cheer and various hellos.

"Oh my boys I miss you all." She said before James turned the phone back to himself. "But I think I miss you most of all."

"I miss you too. How's Sid holding up?"

Heather sighed. "He's Sid. Steady like a rock as always. His emotions have gotten the best of him at times but he needs me right now."

"I need you too." James said quietly as a collective Aww rose up. "I miss my girl." He added.

Heather heard a whoop from Beau. "Pay up bitches! She's with Nealer! I told you so!" He said as James got up to finish his call.

"I'm sorry." He said walking. "This isn't exactly how I wanted people to find out." He added.

"It's not your fault. Just...try not to tell Sid yet. I don't think that he could take it." Heather said frowning.

"So we have to hide us from Sid?" James asked sounding upset. "Isn't that taking your captain's loyalty a little far?"

"James his grandmother is in the hospital. I promise we can tell him when we are back. Please, please tell the guys to keep it quiet." Heather said pleadingly sticking out her bottom lip.

"You're lucky you're there. That bottom lip would be bit by now if you were here." He said with a smile. "Alright, you win." He said.

"Good luck tonight. And tell Brooksie to stay away from Candy. He's only allowed to cheat on me with his own wife." Heather smiled making James laugh out loud.

"I will Babydoll." He smiled. "Tell Sid we are all thinking of him." He paused having one more question that he didn't want to ask but his mind wouldn't let him stop. "Are you...sharing with Sid this week?"

"I have my own room." Heather said not missing a beat. "But I'm at his disposal." She said suddenly regretting her choice of words. "I mean..."

"I know what you mean." James said "it's ok. I was just curious."

"James. I'm yours. This is my job. You said it was ok." She stopped.

"I know. Just...please think of me with him." James asked. Heather smiled and agreed. They said their goodbyes as James went back to his dinner.

Heather had been asleep in the livingroom for about two hours when she heard the door open. One by one the Crosby's came in changing out of their winter wear. They all looked very downtrodden and upset. Sidney entered the room with tears on his face. Heather didn't need to ask, she knew. Nana Forbes was gone. She embraced him with all of the energy that she had as he just stood there accepting the embrace. Heather kissed his cheek as he wept into her neck. She didn't even notice the three other people in the room, taking in the emotional spectacle

. Silently he led her upstairs. Once they got to his room Sidney closed the door and kissed her hard on the mouth. She wasn't expecting it, but accepted it just the same.

"Sid, do you need to talk about this?" She asked as his hands were on her body, feeling and touching her as if he never may again.

"Later." He said between kisses. "Just trust me." He said to her. They quickly undressed each other, like it was a dream things were almost playing out in front of her instead of with her. He kissed down her neck as he pushed her back on the bed. He took a nipple in his mouth licking and teasing with his tongue as his other hand went to her other one. She looked at him, it was like he was a man possessed, on a carnal mission. He slid himself into her with a hard thrust taking her by surprise as she gasped at the force. As they made love no words were exchanged. Nobody even thought of a barrier method. They simply went about pleasuring each other, doing their best to meet their mutual needs. He didn't ease up on her, neither did she as she took control rolling them over. She sat up on him riding him until they both reached their completion without a word. As she slid off and laid beside him she wanted him to have the first word.

"When she was going, she told me to look after you." He said to me.

"But she barely met me." Heather said in disbelief.

"She knew you were special. You were the only girl she'd met of mine before." He said realizing the sadness in his words. "She knew if I chose to bring you to meet her that you were the one."

"Sid..." Heather started unsure where to start

. "No, you're the one." He said to her. "I can't continue going on in my life pretending and living without love. Please, I know you keep saying no, but I love you. I want to be with you forever, I want to stop imagining what life would be like to wake up next to you everyday and just do it."

"Sid, you're not in the right frame of mind right now." Heather said sighing. "Let's not ruin what just happened with this discussion." She said. James came to her mind immediately. "It's just not that simple."

"Right." Sid said dejected before rolling away from her to get up. "You haven't even met my sister yet." He said sounding sad.

"Sid," Heather started. "Sid I love you." God what was she doing? She wondered. Her own boyfriend couldn't even say it yet there it was again from her mouth. Was it a consolation? Some sort of runner up prize?

"So you say." Sid said with a half grin. "I hope that...that one day you're not so afraid to love me like you seem to." He said as he left the room quietly.
