Becoming Stronger together

*Later that night*

The guys had told coach Q about christians surgery tomorrow so he gave a big speech about how they needed to play this game for him and tomorrow nights game for him too. They played amazing and won 6-2 against the wild.
Patrick has the game turned on and Christian was asleep. Patrick had thought of bringing up adopting Christian now.

"Hey Gina I have a question." Pay said
"Ask away" she replied
"I was thinking that maybe we could adopt Christian and he'd have us as his parents. I wanted to talk to you first-" he stated
Then Gina interrupted, "I would love to, but that's going to put you in an awkward situation with the media. Do you really want that kind of attention? It was pretty bad when I was pregnant, it'll get a lot worse now."

Christian had started to wake up but kept his eyes shut to listen to their conversation.

"What issues would it cause?" He argued
"How was he when I was out of town? How did the media act when they found out you had a brother? You want to go through that again?" She started raising her voice

Patric stood up defensively, "he's a teenager, he's going to act out. I did when I was his age and I still do now. And the media didn't do anything when they found out he was my brother."
"That's because you kept him a secret. Look Patrick, it's your career and your life but if you want to adopt your brother, then I'm taking Tristan and we're both going to live somewhere else." Gina stated
Patrick was fuming mad, "You aren't going to take my own kid away from me! You can't do that! I'm looking out for my brother. He can't have the transplant without parental conceit"
Gina interrupted, "so ask Jac-"
"No I'm not done. I'm sorry I give a fuck about my brother. Our family looks out for one another because I don't know if you've noticed but our parents are dead." He yelled

Christian cough to show that he was awake but didn't talk.

"How much of that did you hear?" Gina asked
"Enough to tell you to get the fuck away from me without me feeling like a douchebag." Christian said, "look my sister didn't want to live with her and at some point Patrick didn't either. So if you don't feel bad about walking out on us because of the media then go for it. See if I give a single fuck."

"Christian don't talk to her like that." Patrick said
"I don't want either of you in here right now." Christian said
Gina looked at him, "I'm sorry for what I said. I won't leave you guys."
"Get out of my room." Christian said holding back tears.
"Christian we aren't leaving you alone." Patrick said
"Fine then I'll leave." He said as he started to unhook himself from all the machines and IV.

Christian got up and walked out of his room. Patrick tried to sit him down but he punched Patrick in the jaw. The team had all come to visit Christian after their win but didn't see Christian when they got there.

"Wheres Christian?" Sharp asked
Patrick looked up, "he wanted space and I tried sitting him down but I got punched in the jaw."
"You let your kid who's getting a heart transplant and let's not forget is diabetic just walk out of his hospital bed? Are you a fucking idiot!" Jon yelled
"He tried to calm him down. It's my fault." Gina said, "I told Patrick that I didn't want to adopt him."
"Please tell me you're joking?" Jon asked

Both Patrick and Gina shook their heads no
The team looked at them in disbelief. Jon walked out of the room and slammed the door going to find Christian.

*With Christian*

My brother and his wife were being complete ass holes and I was sick of hearing them argue. I went off on both of them and just left. I went to find my doctor and asked if they could get me set up in a new room but not tell my brother and they agreed only because he used the whole fans excuse. Once he was hooked up to the machines and got a new IV he fell asleep.
Jon walked around the hospital and couldn't find Christian but ended up running into Kevin. He told Kev what happened and they both looked for him. When they couldn't find him they asked a doctor if they had seen him and the doctor showed them his new room as long as they didn't tell patrick.

"Here you go" the doctor said leading them to room 407.

They both thanked him and walked in. Christian woke up to the door closing and wanted to be mad but was too drained to do anything about it.

"Hey Bub are you alright?" Jon asked him
"In all honesty, I feel like shit right now. How'd y'all know I was in this room?" He asked sitting up slowly
"Relax you can lay down. And we asked your doctor. We won't tell Patrick we swear." Kevin said, "We just want to make sure you're ok."
"I just want the stupid transplant and to not be in pain ever again." Christian said
Jon sat down and asked, "Can I ask what happened with your brother and Gina that you left?"
Christian looked down, "Patrick wants to adopt me but Gina thinks it's going to ruin his image. She then proceeded to state that everyone freaked out when they found out he had a brother and that Patrick didn't want to be seen with me cause of the media."

Patrick walked past the room and saw Kevin and Jon in there so he walked in and saw Christian. Christian looked down and started playing with his hands in hopes that his brother wouldn't talk to him.

"Hey Christian I'm sorry for what you heard. That wasn't fair to you at all. I'm so sorry." Patrick said to his brother
"Hey Pat I think it's best if you aren't here right now..." Jon said to him
Patrick looked at him, "I'm not leaving my brother. I walked out on him once it isn't happening again."
"Please just leave... I need space from everyone right now...." Christian said with tears brimming his eyes
"I'll stay with him and you can talk to him tomorrow when he's up ok?" Jon said
Patrick nodded his head in disbelief, "I love you Christian. No matter what Gina says, or what I've said in the past. You're the most important person in my life. I'm sorry. I'm really really sorry." and he walked out

Kevin followed Patrick as he walked out and left Jon with Christian. Christian held back crying but Jon told him it was ok if he did. Christian eventually just fell asleep, his surgeon came in and talked with Jon about what would happen tomorrow and he checked Christians vitals and made sure his levels were good. Once he did that they woke up Christian and said it was easier to start the procedure now and give him more time to recover. Christian didn't care, so they took him into the surgery room.

*With Patrick*

They were all sitting around in the waiting area of Christians old room. Some of the guys were getting ready to leave when Coach Q and Jon walked up.

"Why aren't you with Christian?" Kane asked
Jon looked down, "Um.. His surgeon came into his room and wanted to start the surgery tonight..."
"What? He's getting the surgery right now? You let them take him without me seeing him?" Patrick was clearly pissed and hurt, "What the fuck Jon. He's my brother not yours. You can't make decisions for him like that. If something happens during the surgery, I swear you'll be dead." He got up and walked away
"Jon you should've told the doctor to wait." Coach said
"I didn't have a choice. His heart was racing 210 BPM, his doctor told me that they wanted to do it now with or without conceit because if they didn't he could end up in the ICU and a lot worse." Jon lied
"Shit are you serious? Don't tell Pat that. He'll freak out." Shaw said
"He just doesn't want to be in pain anymore. So hopefully this'll fix that." Jon said sitting down putting his head in his hands.
