Time to Waste

Okay, I was right not to expect a call right away. It's been three days since I gave Brayden my number, and I haven't even received a single text... Shit, he probably can't read my terrible handwriting. Or maybe the whole being nervous thing was just an act - the other guys probably put him up to it. After all, why would he have asked for my number otherwise?
You know how time flies when you're having fun? Well you have NO IDEA how slow time moves when you're waiting to hear from a guy. In order to keep myself occupied while I wait for Brayden to call me (the length of this waiting period could be compared to waiting for the second coming of Jesus....a.k.a. I'll be dead long before it happens), I decided to run some errands.
I hit traffic on my way to the mall. I think the world is against me. Once I finally arrived, I began shopping for some last minute Christmas presents for various family members. I used that generous tip to help pay for a dress I've been eying up for weeks. Hopefully Brayden will call me so I actually have a reason to wear the dress...
As much as I love being around determined mothers who drag their children around the mall on their journeys to get everything at the lowest price possible, I needed a break. And do you know what goes along best with a break? Frozen yogurt. Because of my rigorous work schedule and homework, I haven't had froyo in months. Luckily there is a froyo shop on my way home.
I pulled into the parking lot in my outdated Honda Civic that looked out of place compared to the car next to it. "Who the hell has enough money to afford that?!"
As soon as I walked in, I was immediately able to answer my own question. I contemplated pivoting and running right back out the door at the sight of Brayden, but my shoes seemed to be glued to the floor. If he hadn't been so indulged in his froyo, he might have turned around to see the look of sheer panic on my face.
Eventually I composed myself, and casually headed over to the yogurts. Maybe going to the machine directly next to Brayden was a little too obvious, but a little heart attack won't kill him.
"Hi Brayden."
He jumped. "Oh hey Kelsey! Look I really did intend to call you. I just couldn't decide on what to say when you answer. I don't know why but you just make me really ner-" I put my finger against his lips.
"Shh. You are much more talkative today," I giggled. He couldn't hide the smirk that forming on his face. "What are you doing tonight?"
"Um, I think I might have to... no, that's not important. I'm not doing anything tonight. Did you have something in mind?"
Kelsey grin grew from cheek to cheek, "As a matter of fact, I do! Me, you, dinner at 7."
i could see that Brayden's mind was moving too quickly for his mouth, but eventually he got out, "Okay! Any restaurant in particular?"
"That's up to you, Bray."
We finished making out froyo creations, and Brayden payed for both. On our way to the cars, I wrote my address on a piece of paper. He took the paper, and to my surprise, he leaned in to kiss my cheek. "See you tonight," he said with a smile. I could see in his eyes that he was genuinely happy.

Just great. More time that I need to waste.
It's 7:01. He should be here by now.
I'm pacing my bedroom trying to decide which heels match better with my new dress. I heard the doorbell ring and hurried downstairs in the heels that were already on my feet.
I reached the door, but took a second to catch my breath before opening it. Once I opened it, I saw Brayden's eyes widen. Mine did as well because, damn, he cleans up well.
"You look absolutely beautiful, Kelsey." His mouth was slightly agape. I couldn't find any words, so I tried to hide my smile and bright red face by looking down at my hands. As if that were a cue for Brayden, he gently took one of my hands and guided me to his car.
Dinner was a success. There were no awkward silences, we have so much in common, and Brayden ordered an entire cake for dessert. Before leaving the restaurant, he asked if I would like to head back to his house for some coffee. Reluctant, I agreed. I didn't want to be a one might stand, and, by the looks of this situation, I might be.
His hands were shaking slightly as he tried to put his key in the doorknob. Eventually he unlocked the door, and then he gave me a tour. Everything was going perfectly until we walked into his bedroom. The room was silent as Brayden walked up behind me and put his hands on my waste. I gasped at his touch.
"We don't have to do anything that you don't want to do."
I nodded. I turned around in his grip, met his eyes, and leaned up. It seemed like a lifetime until our lips made contact, and even when they did, there was hesitation.

Notes

I hope you guys are into suspense... ;)
