A little bit lost

Chapter 2
When I finally got home I still couldn’t believe I had kissed Sam’s cheek. I turned off my engine after pulling into my driveway and slowly got out of my car. When I got to the front door I noticed all lights were out, so that meant most everyone was asleep. I walked in and smiled. No one was awake, so the house was mine as long as I was quite. I made my way to the den, which had three rooms mine, a small bathroom and a living room like area. I went to my bathroom and got ready for a shower to help clear my mind.
A cold rush came over me when I stepped out of the shower, which always happened since the den didn’t get very warm. I slowly got ready for bed and realized the time was already 11:30 PM. “Shit.” I muttered to myself as I towel dried my hair. It was this late and I needed to get a good run in before church in the morning. “Guess I’ll only get a few hours in tonight.” I said to myself as I crawled into bed and slowly fell asleep with the clock going tick, tock, tick, tock.
I woke up to my phone playing Country Girl by Luke Bryan, meaning I had gotten a text from someone. I groaned as I leaned over and picked up my phone reading that it was only 7 AM. I unlocked my phone and read, “Hey it’s Sam. Told ya I would text you, hope I didn’t wake you.” I smiled at the realization that it was Sam Mckechnie. I slowly got up from my bed and messaged back, “It’s fine I had to be up anyway. Thanks for the wake up text.” I put my phone down and got in my running shorts, my quick dry t shirt and a pair of old new balance running shoes. I was doing some pre run stretches when I heard my phone go off again. I picked it up and laughed when I read, “You’re welcome. I had to be too. The guys decided ‘Oh lets go for a run 20 minutes from home and I have no clue where I am haha.” I was still smiling when I messaged Sam, “Well I’m going running myself so I’ll message you when I get back. Hope you find where you are before I get back.”
I headed to the wood trail that I ran almost daily. As I ran I felt the cold wind whip against my face and man did it feel good. While I ran I heard some voices, which was weird since most people didn’t even know about this trail. I slowed down as the voices seemed to get closer. “Great we’re lost. At least I have cell service.” I heard one of the voice say and it sounded very familiar. “Yeah so you can text that chick that you have a thing for and not help us get out of this place.” the other voice said sounding angry. I made my way over to a bush that was right next to where the voices were coming from and I bent down and tried to see who it was.
I almost busted out laughing when I noticed it was Sam and his teammates Justin Hickman and Shea Theodore. I made my way back out to the trail and made it look like I was just running and I didn’t know they were there. When I rounded the corner I acted shocked to see them. “Hey, whatcha guys doing here?” I asked acting confused. Sam whipped around when he heard my voice and he seemed embarrassed, “Umm… well. We’re kinda…” I laughed, “Lost?” Justin and Sam’s faces both went red. “Well I know my way out. Want me to help you guys out or are you too manly to ask a girl for directions?” I said putting my hands on my hips. “Yeah, we need help getting out of here.” Justin said with his head hanging. “Alright, lets get you guys out of here then.”
As we headed out Sam walked next to me as Justin and Shea walked behind us. “Thanks for helping us.” Sam said. “Oh it’s no problem. I run this trail all the time.” I said kicking a rock. “Well still if you hadn’t showed up we probably would have been stuck in there for days.” he said blushing a little. I smiled when I saw him go red. “So what were you guys doing out here anyway?” I said turning so I was facing him. “Shea though it would be a brilliant idea to go running in a place that none of us knew very well.” Sam said gesturing to Shea, who was behind him. This made me laugh and made Sam smile.
When we got to the end of the trail I said, “Well here we are. The start of the trail.” Justin and Shea passed me with simple “thank you’s”, but Sam stayed behind. “Thanks again. So ummm…. do you want to hang out later?” he said rubbing his arm nervously. From the corner of my eye I saw Justin and Shea with their jaws dropped. “Yeah sure.” I said with a smile. “Cool, um well there’s this charity thing we’re going to for the Seattle Humane Society I think it’s called…” Sam said trailing off trying to remember the name. “Tuxes and Tails?” I said with an almost certainty. “Yeah that! You wanna be like my date? I mean coach said we could bring one if we could get one.” Sam rubbed his arm again. “Yeah I’d love too.” I said twisting my hair with my finger. “Alright. Umm.. I’ll pick you up at your place around 7. Just text me your address.” he said with a little grin. “Alright. See you then.” I said as the boys headed to Shea’s car. I watched them walk away and Justin and Shea were shoving Sam teasingly which always makes me laugh.
I turned around and continued my run. As I ran I couldn’t believe I had a date to Tuxes and Tails with Sam. I quickly took out my phone and asked Sidney if she was going to the charity event with Danny Mumaugh, since they were dating. After about 10 minutes my phone went off and I read the message that read, “Yeah. Are you?? With who????” I quickly texted her back telling her what happened and I continued my run for 20 more minutes then headed home so I could go to church.

Great job so far. Seems interesting, I have 2 brothers in the military so I love stories where the military and hockey collide. I would just maybe think about formatting your story so its easier to read.... break it up a bit
