Look for Me in Rainbows

Maggie picked up her package that contained her team practice gear, room assignment, and room key. She waited for the elevator and got on with the some other girls. She was headed to the third floor, when all the other girls had filed out, Maggie was left with Julie from dinner.

“What room are you in?” Julie asked.

“327.”

“I was right.” She replied. “We are together.”

“Awesome.” Maggie said. “I was hoping I would room with you. I wanted someone really experienced with team USA.”

“Don’t worry,” she said, “I’ll tell you everything you need to know.”

“Thanks.” Maggie replied. They stepped out of the elevator and started walking to their room.

“Here we are.” Julie slid her room key in the sensor and opened. “Home sweet hotel room!” Maggie walked in. “All of our bags are moved in too.”

“Awesome!” Maggie smiled. Her bag was on the second of the two beds in the room. She headed over and opened it up.

“You use the left three drawers. I’ll take the right.” Julie said while looking at the dresser against the wall. Maggie nodded and started unpacking her things. She was tired from her long day. She unpacked quickly and sat down on her bed.

“Hey,” Julie said, “I’m gonna go out and get some granola bars and stuff from the CVS I saw a block or two away on my way here. Do you want anything?”

“Nah.” Maggie said. “I think I’m just gonna shower and hang out.” Julie nodded.

“See ya.” Maggie heard the door close behind Julie. She stood up and got in the shower.

Maggie smiled at her laptop screen as she ran her fingers through her long, wet hair. “I even get to room with Julie Chu. She’s already played in the olympics three times!” Patrick smiled back at her on the screen.

“That’s great.” He said. “How’s everything else?”

“Good.” She replied. “I like everyone I’ve met, but I’m more excited to practice tomorrow. How’s everything with you?”
“Good.” He laughed. “I might be in for a long season rooming with Johnny.” With that, Jonathan walked into the frame in his boxers.

“Oh hey, Maggie.” He said. Then he waltzed out of the frame again.

“I can see how it could be a long season.” She laughed.

“I see you put up your rainbow.” He said.

“Its good luck.” She grinned. “And I like it.”

“I know you do.” He smiled. Maggie heard the door to her room open.

“Speaking of roommates.” She laughed.

“What’s so funny?” Julie asked as she walked in and set her things down on her bed. She climbed over it and stood next to Maggie’s. “Oh, you’re Skyping.” She leaned in for a closer look. “You’re either skyping Patrick Kane or his twin brother.” She said with a hint of both shock and excitement.

“Yeah.” Patrick said. “I’m the brother, David.”

“Who’s David?” Jonathan called from out of the frame. Patrick looked toward him.

“I was making a joke to one of Maggie’s friends.”

“Maggie has friends?” Jonathan ‘s face quickly emerged on the screen.

“Jonathan Toews.” Julie said. “So how do you know the whole Blackhawks team?” She looked at Maggie.

“Well, Patrick and I met in Buffalo and started dating after randomly went off on him for being an idiot.”

“Its true.” Patrick said.

“And Johnny.” She sighed. “I’ve discovered that they’re a you get one, you get the other kind of thing.” Jonathan grinned.

“Nice.” Said Julie. “Well I’m going to shower. Bye Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews.” She waved, then walked off and into the bathroom.

“She seems nice.” Patrick said.

“And she’s not creepy.” Jonathan added.

“Alright,” Maggie started, “I’ll talk to you guys later. I love you.” She locked eyes with Patrick.

“Aww! I love you too!” Jonathan exclaimed. Patrick rolled his eyes.

“I love you, Maggie.” He said.
