Money
It’s been a few days and yes they are officially eliminated as the game that I attended did no help what so ever. The team had their locker clean out yesterday and the boys were really upset. The whole night was under breath chants of “We had it.” or “We lost it.” by them two. I haven’t heard about that Amy girl since I met her so I’m hoping it stays that way. Today we are deciding on what type of place we want so we can narrow our options down.
“Small enough to be easily cleaned but not squashed.” I said.
“Multiple rooms.”
“2 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms?”
“Maybe 2 beds and a spare room.”
“Game room?” I suggested.
“Oh yeah.”
“Okay sounds good. Now apartment or house.”
Morgan paused, “I think we don’t need a house now since its only us 2 without Jake and anybody.”
I nodded in agreement writing down any last second thoughts we had. We both were quite picky so I just hope one of our options would settle. We scrolled through the apartments we had found and only two looked decent. One which is currently very expensive and one with only 1 bath and 2 beds.
I looked at him in despair, “Well I feel like I just lost in roll up the rim. Maybe we can go look-”
“What?” Morgan said cutting me off half way through my sentence, “That one was perfect!”
He meant the over priced one, “Uh that one?”
“Yeah!” His face glowed.
“Umm Morgan.”
“What’s wrong with it? It has 4 beds, looks very easy to clean and worry about, 2 bathrooms, big kitchen, nicely spaced living room. What else could be wrong?”
“Morgan I can’t. I’m sorry.” I apologized.
“Mackenzie if you’re scared I completely understand but this is made for us. It’s like our big break!”
“Why can’t you just understand that I can’t and I’m not scared! I’m totally fine with the thought of moving it's just something about it.”
“Why must you be so complicated. This one is amazing.”
“It's not the house!” I shouted, “It's the..”
“It's the what?!” He yelled back.
“Whatever you won’t get it.” I stormed off into my room and lied down on my bed. I watched as the little rain drops fell down one by one on the window just like my tears dripped on my pillow as I drifted to sleep.
*Next day*
I rolled over on to my dry pillow and felt a body and by reaction flinched to my now dry pillow which was earlier filled with tears.
“Shh it's just me.” Morgan said rubbing my arm to calm me down.
“When did you come here?”
“Not too long after you stormed off. I just want you to be honest and tell me. I will understand whatever the issue is and if its huge we can keep looking. What I said was all bullshit.” He confessed.
“No no! It was all really good reasons why that apartment is amazing but it's something personal.”
“What is it too far from your school or parents?”
“No it's perfect but the price isn’t”
He looked confused. I regretted what I said I wish I didn’t tell him. He’s an NHL player who gets millions and I don’t even have my own place! I held back a tear because I wasn’t them. I’m not those two girls who look like they are stacked themselves. I’m not Jen, or Ashley. I don’t have the bank accounts like my roommates. I don’t even know who I am anymore and what I stand for. I’m lost and Morgan now sees that.
“It’s pretty decent Mack. Comparing to others I mean.”
“That’s not my point. My budget is way lower then that. If we split the price of it I’m afraid I still wouldn’t have enough.” I said as my cheeks turned red of embarrassment.
“Mackenzie. I’m covering the payment. I thought you knew, so I never looked at the price.”
I shook my head, “No you’re not. I can’t let you.” I said standing up and walking out of my room where he had followed.
“Stop. I understand your situation.” He said trying to catch up to me.
“That doesn’t mean I can’t buy something especially that it is for myself!” I sighed, “Why don’t we split it or something. We are clearly both very happy with this place so lets settle with it for now and lets do some math.”
“I’ll take one third of the deposit. I take monthly rent as well.” He suggested grabbing his phone and opening the calculator application.
“I can’t Morgan. As grateful as I am I would have too much grief about how I have to pay you back and stuff.” I sat down on the couch and placed my face into my hands.
“Well lets say split but for now I take the third of it. Then later on if you feel the need to pay me back, you pay your other quarter. Deal?”
“How about rent?” I asked agreeing to what he has said so far.
“Well I take every month but October.”
“Why only October?”
“Well I’ll need to save up to buy you birthday gifts so you can pay that month.” He smirked.
I just laughed and kissed him on the cheek and a big smile appeared across his face. He was actually very sweet which I liked about him. By time I had gotten back to the couch after getting washed up, Morgan was already up and calling some people he knew or the website said to get a viewing of the place. When he finished talking we just decided to go check out some furniture stores and get some ideas of what we want.
This is going to be fun.Notes
