Changes

I finally convinced myself that I would turn to a popsicle if I sat there any longer. I got up and brushed my pants a little bit as my stomach growled. I sighed because it was 11 pm and only some food places were open. I shouldn't have wasted my food and money on that jerk. As I looked around to see where I was, I saw I was sitting beside a restaurant I always wanted to try but I never got to. I walked inside and I got directed to an empty booth. I took off my hat trying to fix my hair so I wouldn’t look like a total mess.
"Hello! My name is Hannah and I will be your server so if you need anything just call my name and I'll be here to help you as soon as I can." The waitress said.
"Okay cool I'll just take a look at the menu." I said with a fake smile.
"Take all the time you need sweetie." She said as she slowly walked to the next table.
By time I browsed the menu and picked a meal, Hannah came and I ordered. She took my menu and she went to the bar and got my drink.
"Your food will be done shortly, okay?" She said rushing to a calling customer.
I just sat there hoping my headache would calm down. It hasn't even been a day and I feel like it's been a year without Zach. How did I not see this coming? I bursted into tears as my head fell into my hands.
"Are you okay? What's the matter?" A male voice said.
I raised my head wiping my tears hoping my mascara isn't running.
“Yeah just a rough day.” I said trying not to cry anymore.
“Well why don’t you tell me about it since crying won’t really do much and it won’t help your makeup.” He said with a slight smile as he sat in the other side of the booth.
“Only if you promise not to be judgemental about it.” I laughed.
“Okay I won’t I promise.” He smiled.
“Well today I caught my boyfriend cheating on me. I went to a restaurant to get dinner tonight and I saw him kissing another girl. We were together for a while now and he has been a little abusive to me lately. I’ve thought about leaving him but every time I tried he would beg not too and he would buy me something beautiful or take me out. I always try to talk about our relationship hoping it would turn to a mutual breakup but every time I tried he would start another topic or say he was tired. I kept on getting excuses for everything. He would come home late, go to parties every night and leave me alone at home, he would ditch our plans, would waste our money we have been saving up and say he didn't do it and blame me. I should have known he was cheating on me because these are some pretty obvious clues.”
“Wow that seems pretty harsh. So why are you now here?” He asked.
“Well I was getting food there and I kind of threw it at him so I’m hungry still.” I said a little embarrassed.
“Since you seem like you are having a rough day why don’t I cover your bill?”He said giggling.
“No I can’t let you do that! Um and I haven’t even told you my name yet.” I said confused.
“Well what is your name? I’m Morgan by the way.” He replied.
I just sat there. I knew that name and he looked familiar too. Who was this guy? After a few silent seconds I looked up as my eyes grew wider only to realize that he was Morgan Rielly a defense man on the Toronto Maple Leafs. I stood up grabbed my purse and was rubbing my temples because I must of been dreaming or hallucinating. An NHL player did not just offer to pay my dinner bill. I stopped for a second to put my hat on and a hand reached and grabbed my shoulder.
“Are you sure you’re okay? Your food just came to the table. Plus you still haven't told me your name either. Why don't you go eat aren't you starving?” Morgan said.
“Um yeah I’m okay I’m just going to walk home and eat there. I’ll see you later.” I said walking towards the door.
“No don’t go. I’ll drive you home. It’s the least I can do.” He said gently grabbing my wrist as we exited the restaurant.
