Changes

Today was the day. It is finally here. I can't believe how fast it came. My best friend is getting married. The wedding is where she lives so we flew out here yesterday. It was absolutely exhausting with the time change but I guess I now know how the boys feel. I was dreading this wedding as Zach was Jimmy's best man. I really hate knowing I'll have to stand next to him and actually talk to him after what he did. I'll never forgive him for that and I'm sure Morgan won't either. The ceremony begins at 10am so we woke up around 6 to get ready and all. Morgan wore this black suit with a black dress shirt underneath and although I wouldn't be seeing him a lot I sure wish I was because of how handsome he looked. I got dressed and I must say I do love the dress she chose for us. It was a long flowy lilac dress that had one strap going up our left shoulder. Ashley was always a lowkey and practical girl so I wasn't surprised by her traditional lilac and white themed wedding. After we both got ready Morgan drove us over to Ashley's house where he dropped me off and then went to Jimmy's himself.

"Mackenzie! I'm so glad you're here!", Ashley screamed running up to hug me.

"Girl you look stunning. Where's your dress?" I responded laughing lightly.

"It is upstairs." She answered while I followed her into the kitchen, "Ladies look who has arrived!".

"Oh! Mackenzie!" All of our old friends screamed.

"How have you all been?" I asked trying to cut some awkwardness out.

"I live in New Orleans. I am studying to be a dentist there." Brooke, one of the bridesmaids responded.

"Yeah I'm still in Toronto. Nothing big. I just have a small retail job to keep me stable." Another stated.

"I'm engaged myself! Keith proposed last week when the Kings won. LA is his favourite team and he was just so happy he pulled the ring and said how he couldn't wait any longer!" Another bragged while we all laughed at the story.

"How about you, Mackenzie?" Shannon questioned, "What have you been up to? How's Zach? I heard he's Mr. Jimmy's best man!"

"Uhh yeah we broke up last winter. I caught him cheating and we broke it off there." I said. Although I had nothing to be shy about I didn't want to spill it all. Didn't need the attention on me and my love life the whole wedding.

"Oh shit. That sucks. Did you bring anyone to the wedding?" Shannon frowned.

"Yeah actually. His name is Morgan. He's a hockey player for the Leafs and we live together now. I'm so happy with him and he is a thousand times better to me than Zach." I said with a huge grin.

"Aw Mack!" They all screamed.

"Okay, okay enough about me lets get the bride ready, shall we?" I exclaimed as we all cheered and heading up to the bride's room helping her get ready.

Before I knew it we were all at the church and I saw Zach. Yes he looked good but no I did not forget everything he's done. I saw Morgan standing awkwardly alone and I ran up to him and hugged him.

"Hey babe." He said smiling back at me.

"Hello. Where's everyone?" I asked.

"Oh everyone's inside but your brother isn't here so I was standing outside waiting for him. Your parents seemed worried so I told them I'd take care of it." He said slowly but calmly.

"What?! My brother?" I panicked, "W-w-where is he? Have you talked to him?"

"No, I tried texting and calling him but he hasn't responded." He frowned.

"Morgan this can't be happening. The ceremony is about to start!" I shrieked.

"Good thing I'm here then." A voice behind me spoke.

I turned around to see Zach standing there.

"What do you want, Zach?" I sighed.

"What's wrong? You guys seemed stressed. I assumed my presence would help." He said very cocky.

"Well thats incorrect but anyways. My brother is missing and the ceremony starts soon."

"Oh thats serious. Should I help?"

"I don't need your help Zach!" I screamed.

"Mackenzie. Maybe help is a bit better. He can check more places to find him." Morgan suggested.

"That is so silly! He is not a good guy! Besides, where can my brother go? He's in a different country remember? Oh God where is he?" I said with a tear dripping down.

"Mackenzie, please let me help. Although things are rocky with us that doesn't mean I want your brother in any harm." Zach politely said.

"Fine. I'm going in and saying you chickened out. You two go find my brother and quick!" I pleaded.

They both ran out of the church into Morgan's car where they drove off to somewhere I didn't know. I sighed and walked back to the group of bridesmaids telling Ashley that Zach is no longer able to be their best man and suggested Jimmy's brother to be. She didn't mind and neither did Jimmy. The ceremony went on beautifully and before we knew it, they were an officially married couple! It was so nice to see her so happy. I wonder if Morgan has ever questioned or thought about marriage. After we all were outside of the church, my mom ran up to me.

"Mackenzie darling, where is Lucas?" She worryingly asked.

"Mom do not panic. I don't know. Zach and Morgan went looking for him and I haven't checked my phone for any messages from them."

"Please do. We're worried sick."

"Don't be. Why don't you guys head back to the hotel and freshen up and I'll see you with Lucas tonight at the reception, okay?" I suggested with hope he's okay.

They nodded and walked away and I turned to my phone to see one text from Morgan.

Morgan: Still looking, no luck. Checking the bar soon and asking around the hotel now. Hotel room was empty, no luggage, no nothing. Keep you updated. 12:17pm.

It was now 12:30pm so I decided to call and check up on them.

Me: Hey. How's it going?
Morgan: Sorry to say but not too well. The hotel said he checked out at 3am last night. They tried asking why and he just screamed. I'm sorry Mack. I don't know what to do.
Me: Don't apologize its not your fault.
Morgan: I'm just so mad. Zach is flirting with the secretary and not even caring.
Me: Did I not say it was a bad idea?
Morgan: He did charm the ladies at the desk into giving us the check out time so that did help.
Me: I guess. I have to go take a picture so I'll talk to you later. I suggest you just forget about it and come to the reception later on. Thank you. Bye!

I had the biggest pit in my stomach. Where was my brother? What could've driven him to check out that late? I'm so worried and I just pray he's okay.
