Sleepover
He led me to his car as I told him where I lived. I just want to get home and rest.
“Mackenzie.” I said while he started to drive.
“What?” He questioned.
“That’s my name.” I said quietly.
“Well Mackenzie you have a beautiful name.” He complimented while he gave a slight smile.
He was so sweet it made me want to cry. I haven’t felt this touched by someone in a while. Zach never really gave me compliments or spent a lot of time with me. Yeah we lived together but with school, and he always being out I barely even saw him for more than an hour. Wait I lived with him.
“Morgan st-st-stop the car please jus-just let me out.” I said stuttering.
“Why? I thought you wanted to go home?” He said concerned.
“I can’t anymore.” I said frowning putting my hands to my head.
“Why not? Do you not have your key or something?” He asked.
“I live with Zach. My boyfriend well now ex.” I shed a tear.
“Oh I’m sorry. Well where are you going to go?” He wondered.
“I don’t know I’ll probably just go to a hotel or something.” I said as I opened his car door.
“No Mackenzie get back inside you can stay at my place if you like.” He offered.
“You don’t have to really I can-“I got cut off by him.
“I want to.” He said looking into my eyes.
I looked behind me as I hopped into the car and closed the car door. He started driving and then around 5 minutes later he entered an underground parking zone. He parked the car and told me to wait. I saw him run around the car as he came to my door and opened it.
“You may now step out.” He said smiling as he held his hand out to me.
“Well thank you.” I said quietly looking down as a little smile appeared on my face.
He head towards an elevator and we entered it and he swiped his card and pushed a floor number. The whole elevator was all mirrors. I looked into the mirror to see myself looking like a total wreck. My hair was everywhere and my makeup was all running and smudged all over my face.
“Oh my gosh. Did I look this bad the whole night?” I asked myself.
“No you don’t look that bad let me see.” He laughed.
I turned around to face him as he giggled a bit as he took his thumb and brushed it under my eyes.
“You look beautiful to me.” He said with a slight of embarrassment.
He looked into my eyes and he held his hand out to touch my cheek lightly as he leaned in. BING! We both immediately jumped away and stood in our own space as an older couple walked into the elevator. I can’t believe what has happened today. I and Morgan Rielly, an NHL player that I was a huge fan of, almost just kissed. The doors opened as me and Morgan stepped out of the elevator. The walk to the apartment was so awkward we didn’t talk until he stopped and pulled out that card again. He opened the door to see Jake Gardiner his roommate, shirtless playing Xbox on their couch.
“Umm Mackenzie this is Jake.” He said awkwardly looking around the house.
“Oh hello who is this little lady?” Jake asked Morgan as he walked up to me and grabbed my hand.
“Well we met at a restaurant and she was going through a rough night and had no place to stay so I offered for her to spend the night here.” Morgan said with this serious stare.
“I’m not homeless by the way.” I said with a slight bit of fright in my eyes.
That’s it all I need is a bunch of NHL player to think I’m homeless. Morgan stepped inside a bedroom leaving us two alone for a few seconds.
“Mackenzie, even if you were homeless it wouldn’t matter.” Jake said as he sat down and resumed his game.
Morgan walked back out with a t-shirt that seemed to look like Jake’s.
“Yes, money doesn’t define a human. Now, Jake put on this shirt before you scare her away.” Morgan said throwing the shirt at him.
“I’m only listening to you because she too beautiful to scare away.” He winked at me.
I blushed and looked away. Morgan walked over to the fridge and turned to Jake.
“Nice man we have a guest and all we have is beer and Gatorade.” Morgan yelled.
“Well you didn’t tell me you were going to be picking up chicks at a restaurant.” Jake yelled back.
“Morgan don’t worry I’m fine anyway.” I said walking up to him placing my hand on his bicep smiling at him.
He smiled back and closed the fridge and grabbed my arm and pulled me into a bedroom.
“Okay so this is our guest room I hope you don’t mind it. You can use that washroom that’s attached to the room if you want and that closet. If you want to take a shower or bath the other washroom is the first door on the left when you come out. Do you want time to dry off or anything?” He asked.
“Um yeah I think I’ll take a few minutes to maybe take a shower or dry my clothes off.” I replied to him.
“Okay do you need clothes because I can lend you something?” He asked looking in the closet.
“Um sorry but yeah that would be nice.” I said as my cheeks turned red.
“No worries Mack. I’ll bring something of mine into your room and lay them on the bed. Towels are under the sink in the washroom. I’ll be playing Xbox when you done or if you need me.” He said as he left the room.
I was so tired so I just lay there on the bed for a few seconds. I finally decided to get up and head to the washroom. I peeled off my wet clothes as I hopped into the shower. When I was done I got out and I looked for towels under the sink. With today’s luck there was none. I stuck my head out of the door and shouted to Morgan to come.
“Is everything okay? I put some clothes on the bed already.” He said smiling.
“Yeah there are just no more towels sorry.” I said.
He shook his head and headed towards another room and went in. He came out with 3 towels and handed them to me.
“Thank you so much!” I said with embarrassment.
“It was actually my stupid roommate who I told to put the towels there but forgot.” He said looking mad.
“Morgan calm down you look so pissed off.” I said concerned.
“I just feel like a bad, well, host I guess.” He said as his head sunk.
“You really think I care. Don’t worry sweetie.” I said smiling as he smiled back and walked back to the couches.
I walked with my towels on and one in my hand back to my room. I saw sweatpants and a leaf sweater on my bed. I dried myself off and then I threw the clothes on. They were a little too big but were so soft and warm. Walking to the living room while drying my hair with a towel I saw the guys playing Xbox. Growing up with a brother I always used to play video games and stuff and I still love them now.
“You guys playing NHL? You both suck at it.” I said with a slight smirk as I sat on the couch looking at the TV.
“Um excuse me I’d like to see you beat us.” Jake said with a tone of sass to me.
“Pass me a controller and start the game boy.” I said with a hint of sass back.
I ended up kicking their asses 5-0. They just sat there in shock as I did a little dance in my seat.
“Where did you learn to play like that?” Morgan asked with his eyes focused on the TV not believing what just happened.
“Grew up a big gamer and still love to play.” I said as I stood up putting the controller on the table.
“Can you teach me please?” Jake said with a straight and confused face.
“Maybe another time I’m a little tired. Night boys!” I headed to my room.
“Toothbrush and other things like that in one of the drawers in the washroom.” He shouted to me.
“Thanks.” I shouted back smiling to myself.
I was done getting ready as I was just laying there in bed thinking about today and my life so far. Who would think that today would have even happened? I was tossing and turning for quite a bit. I finally got comfortable as I heard the door open and footsteps come near me. I felt a light kiss on my forehead and heard a very faint goodnight whisper. That made my night I thought as I heard the door close and I fell asleep.
