Changes

We stepped inside the place and a waitress brought us to a table and handed us menus. I quickly scanned through it looking for something I would enjoy. We were both silent for a little bit until the waitress came to bring us our meals. I slowly sipped on my iced tea and chewed some food while Morgan attempted to start conversation. I was dazing off wondering about this. Is this a date? I just put it aside as we chatted. I excused myself from the table and went to the washroom. I was standing in front of the mirror just fixing my makeup and then a familiar face walked into the room. It was Jennifer. Also known as the girl who has stolen basically all of my boyfriends and has always been really rude to me. She came up to me to talk. I really didn't want this right now but what was I going to do, ignore her?
"Mackenzie! I haven't seen you for the longest time! How are you?" She said cheerfully.
I took a deep breath trying to get out of this "Oh good. It's been a while. How about you?"
She flipped her blonde hair back "Oh since your asking I'm actually not even working because my plan is to marry rich! I'm out on a date with this super hot guy."
"That's good. I actually have to-" I said as she cut me off right as I was going to leave.
She grabbed my wrist "Mack you will be so jealous! It's a hockey player! For the leafs! You loved them so much I just had to tell you. Well I don't like to brag so." She had a small smirk on her face as she let go of my wrist to put on some lipstick.
"I have to go I'm on a date myself actually so I'll catch up with you." I said waving as I headed out of the door.
"Oh Mackenzie! Don't tell anyone we are together on a date or anything because Jake will be super mad. Bye honey." She said as she literally walked right out the door.
Jake. Jake Gardiner? How could she use them just for their money? She made me sick. I shook my head as I went back to the table. When I got there Morgan already ordered dessert.
"Sorry I couldn't help myself. Plus I just figured everyone likes chocolate so I chose the one with the most chocolate on it." He apologized.
I just laughed as I grabbed my fork and took a piece of the huge brownie in front of us. Morgan covered the tab even after all the arguing between it. We got back to the apartment and I was just getting a glass of water before I headed into bed.
"Mo, can I ask you something?" I asked him as I sat beside him on the couch.
"Yeah anything. What's up?" He said lowering the volume of the T.V.
I looked at the front door just to make sure Jake wasn't just coming in or anything "Um do you and Jake tell each other everything? Like even maybe girlfriends you don't want people to know about or whatever? "
"Yeah why? We don't have confession hour but if we have to talk we just do it whenever we are alone or randomly." He said with concerned eyes.
Believe me I didn't want to tell him but he looked like he needed to know and I needed to vent to someone. I could never understand how someone could do that. People work hard for their money and for someone to just take advantage of that makes me sick to my stomach. "Because well. I saw my old friend Jen. She always takes advantage of guys by the way. She was on a date at the steakhouse with him but she told me not to tell anybody because he doesn't want anyone to know."
"Jake? Why wouldn't he tell me I can't believe out of all people he would-" he got cut short of his sentence when Jake walked in.
"Hey man what you two up to?" he said hanging his coat up on the rack.
"Nothing heading to bed goodnight." Morgan said with a loud tone stomping into his bedroom.
"What's his problem?" Jake questioned raising an eyebrow.
I sighed and stood up with my glass in my hand "Hey listen my friend Jen is in town and she said she was dating one of the guys on the team. I saw her at the restaurant tonight. By any chance do you have any ideas which guy it may be?"
His eyes widened and he started to stutter until I just told him to not worry about it I'll figure it out. Oh it was definitely him and I may or may not have to stop it. Jake is so sweet and deserves much more than her and if he got hurt I would never forgive myself.
