The Maze To Your Heart

Chapter Two: First Period.

Mavel's POV

I sat there watching Kris' championship game with Magnon. He had one assist and it was the third. It was 2-2, and both teams were playing hard.

As time was ticking down, it went into overtime. I wasn't necessarily cheering, nor that excited. I was just showing my support to my good ole friend, Kristopher. He was nervous; I could see it on his face.

While it was in over time, they were setting up a goal. They passed it to the blue line, Kris passed it to Tristan and he sniped it in. The crowd went wild, everyone standing up near me, clapping and cheering. The boys were hugging Tristan and celebrating.

"That was nice wasn't it?" Magnon said with amazement.

"Yeah, very impressive." I smiled.

"Do you want to go congratulate the boys?" She questioned, knowing that we were good friends with them.

"Um, maybe at school tomorrow. I'm not feeling up to it. Not in the mood for sly remarks from the boys. Sorry." I sheepishly replied.

"Aw, alright. It's okay, I understand, Mavel. Want to walk back to my house now?" She asked.

"Uh, yeah sure. Sounds good to me." I smiled politely.

We walked out to leave the arena, we passed the locker rooms. I saw some of the boys yelling and blasting music.

I heard someone yelling rather loudly, I just kept walking, until I found out they were yelling my name.

"Mavel, Mavel, Mave!" I turned around to see Kristopher standing there with helmet hair. He was sweaty looking, but it was nothing out of the ordinary.

Magnon and I stopped; she was a little bit ahead of me, waiting.

"Oh hey, Kris." I smirked.

"Thanks for coming; I knew you said you weren't up for coming to the game. It means a lot." He grinned like a maniac, causing me to giggle.

I never really knew Kristopher to be this nice and weird around me. It was alright, I guess.

"You're welcome." I spoke.

He awkwardly stared at me, I kind of gave a confused look. I was so lost, he was never, not once like this. Something must be bothering him. I would ask later, I thought to myself.

"I better get going, Magnon is waiting for me. We're walking back to her house for the night." I said, socially awkward to the max. I started to turn around before I felt someone grabbing my shoulder to spin me around and crashing their lips into mine.

I was shocked, and I pushed him away to the surprise. I didn't expect this from him ever, not in a life time. I didn't like him that way, it wasn't meant to be that way. Just friends, that's all god intended, or our mother's intended.

He stared at me, hurt.

"Uh, uh, K-Kristopher, I'm sorry. I can't, i-it's not the r-right time." I stuttered nervously.

He was saddened, "I-I understand, Mave. It's alright. I'll talk to you another time." He spoke rapidly, as he walked away.

I walked towards a stunned Magnon, she was so shocked, just as much as I was.

"Oh my god, what was that!" She shrieked with amazement. She always wanted me to have a boyfriend, I don't know. She was a strange friend.

"I don't even know, I told him I couldn't. He's going to be moving far away for hockey in two months. I don't think that we were meant to be together." I reasoned, and she frowned.

"Love is a total bitch." She sighed, as she threw her arm over my shoulder.

Later that day

I lay in the bed that was in Magnon's guest room. I couldn't sleep, he was on my mind. I felt bad, how would I ever be able to face him again? I felt guilty, and quite saddened by it too.

So many thoughts, lately this is what my nights have consisted of. Depressed thoughts, and late night thinking was all that I remembered the next morning.

2 weeks later

I sat there zoned out, staring at my food, playing with it. I wasn't myself lately; I still haven't talked to him. We've been avoiding each other.

"Mavel," Elliot cooed as I was in my state of trance.

"Oh, yes, Elliot? I answered politely.

"I was wondering if you wanted to be my date to the dance," He asked with pride in his voice.

"Um, are you sure?" I asked a little nervous.

"Yeah, definitely. You're one of my best friends." He smiled.

"Okay, I guess so." I smiled towards my best friend.

"Pick you up at 6:30?" He assured.

"Okay, sounds good. I better get going, I have bio." I rushed as I got up from my seat.

Later that day

I walked into the dance with Elliot at my side. He was handsome tonight. He took my jacket to check it, as I took a seat at the table waiting for him. To my surprise I seen Kristopher, he was with that girl Anna from his geo class.

Elliot startled me, jokingly by shaking me a bit from behind.

"Want to dance?" He offered his hand out, and I took it.

I danced with Elliot for quite some while. I took a break to head towards the washroom, I bumped into none the less, Kris Letang.

"Oh, Mavel." He said.

"Kris," I spoke with some happiness.

"I didn't think that you would be the type to come to dances, who's your date?" He questioned.

"Elliot invited me, as friends. How about you?" Though I already knew.

"Oh, I'm with Anna." He smiled.

My heart sank just a little, but I forced a smile out just because he seemed perfectly fine. I wanted to be his friend still, hopefully.

"Oh, that's nice."

"I better get back to her." He said before walking away, just like after the game.

Later that night

I looked out my window to see Kristopher making out with Anna, it was a horrid scene. It was something I wish I haven't seen.

Another restless night.

Two weeks later

Kristopher Letang's POV

I laid there in my bed, staring at my empty room. I was soon going to be a QMJHL player, and finally getting out of Montreal. I was excited, but still worried. I couldn't make out why, it was just my gut feeling.

I heard my doorbell ring, I got up groggily. I slumped my way to the door, I opened it to so, Mave. This is the biggest surprise in a while, she hated me or I hated her.

"Mavel, what're you doing here?" I asked nervously.

"I have something to tell you."

I stared at a nervous Mavel standing in front of me, she was in a hurry to tell me something. I was confused, but still a little bit heart broken by her actions on that night.

"Kristopher, we were almost forced into being friends as kids; I didn't want to be by you for a second, we despised each other. I grew up, you grew up, and we changed, and my love for you matured. And now that you're going, I don't want to miss a second with you. I've gone from hating you, to loving you, and mixed emotions..." Mavel ranted, all of her feelings, and I was stunned, but yet something inside of me made me love her. "I have decided," She started saying, but then I joined in knowing what she was going to say.

"To stick with love, because hate is too great a burden to bear." We spoke in a soft tone, we were in-sync.

"You remembered," She smiled with amazement in her eyes.

"Of course, grade six in history class." I smiled back at her.

Our lips crashed into each other’s. We moved in sync, as I had my finger tips on her jaw line and her hand on my waist. It almost seemed as if this was all meant to be.

We broke apart, and her face was red as a tomato. I had the biggest smile I have ever had in my existence.

"Kristopher, I'm sorry for that night. I didn't want us to be something, then you leaving. I know this doesn't help, with you moving in a week." She apologized.

"It's alright, as long as your mine now." I grinned at my cheesiness.

"I also came here so you could open this letter from the Amos Forestier's. I want you to open it; I'm too scared on what it says." She asked with a total tone of fear in her voice.

I took it from her hand, I was extremely anxious. I think why I was anxious to open it was because Amos was 40 minutes from Val-d'Or where I was going to be playing QMJHL hockey. I wanted her to be closer than ever, especially during this drastic change of fame and popularity.

I scrolled my eyes over the letter not caring about the beginning, the only part that I wanted to read was whether they wanted her on their roster or not.
I found it, “Ms. Maze, we were quite impressed with your performance in the semi-finals a couple of weeks ago. The way you showed your passion and intense emotion, it made the club realize that we need more people like you playing for us. We would be honored if you were to play for the Amos Forestier’s.” I wanted to scream like a girl, but being the tough French Boy I am, I kept it in, with a huge smile creeping on my face of course.

“They want you to play for their team!” I shouted, and her worried face turned into an astonished expression. It made me grin as she swung her arms around me, happily.

“Thank you so much, Kristopher!” She said.

“Why are you thanking me, you’re the amazing hockey player.” I spoke with a hint of smoothness playing out of my mouth.

She shoved me, friendly of course. “I better get going though, Letang.” She smirked.

“Aw, last names now, I thought we were boyfriend and girlfriend.” I grinned mischievously.

“I don’t know, but I got to go. I’m tired and it’s late.” She rushed, but knowing me I turned her around to face me, one last time, just to give a kiss goodnight.

“Kris, you keep doing this to me. What terms are we on? Fifteen year olds falling in love, it sounds a little weary to me, but yet so cliché.” She sighed, being a little over dramatic.

“Well for starter’s you’re now my girlfriend, and only mine because quite frankly I don’t like sharing.” I joked, but inside I was being completely serious. “We’ll find a way to make it work, and we only tell Magnon, Holly, Bright, Elliot and Tristan for now.” I confirmed with her, and she seemed to agree.

“Okay, good night.” We both chorused, just as if we were both sequated to the sound of love.

Yeah, that is a lot. You could just start something new with this one! That would be good, I think :) Ummm..... Would Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle be too cliche of my to say? Haha and for the girls name.... I like Evelyn!

I know you probably don't want to do both, but I really liked this story! Hopefully you can get back to it eventually!
I think you should do it on the Oilers. There are so many fics on the Pens, and not many on the Oilers! :)
Can't wait to read it!
