Thinking isn't always a good thing sometimes it can hurt especially when thinking about the past something that Maxine thinks about a lot especially when seeing her sparsely decorating dorm room getting ready for the fast approaching winter break which might mean the end of her time at North Carolina State University (NCSU) "Max, hey Max" Olivia, Maxine's dorm mate and close friend, says, waving her hand in front of Maxine's face."Are you okay?" "Yeah Liv I'm fine" Maxine says, standing up from the black leather couch (courtesy of the Carlea parents) "Are you thinking about Zach again?" Olivia asks, a look of concern on her face, Zach Carlea is Maxine's ex-boyfriend, Maxine thinks about him a lot especially since he is Vanessa's, one of her best friends, older brother and also goes to the same University as her "No Liv" Maxine says, at least not now, Maxine says to herself, "Okay" Olivia say, a look of concern still on her face but less evident.

"You're going back to the house this weekend, right?" Olivia asks, changing the subject as the two girls set off towards the Cafe "I don't know if I'm going back to the house but I am certainly am going to the game. My mom practically guilt-tripped me into it. She's like 'but Maxine you haven't seen your brothers since before the season started/. It's not like you live million miles away you are only at NCSU that's a nine minute drive to the arena.' As if she checked Liv, so I was like 'Fine mom what time and can I bring friends?' Then she's like 'it's at 7:00 o'clock Maxine, of course you can bring friends just make sure to text Eric or Jordan about tickets. Make sure you're not late. Love you Maxxy bye' and then she hung up just like that. Plus she called me Maxxy" Maxine says, reciting the conversation to her friend and ending with a small shudder, Maxxy is such a horrid nickname. "So I called Jordan up right after and asked for seven tickets to the Carolina Hurricanes versus San Jose Sharks game and he's like 'OH MY GOD I'm actually going to see my little sister even though she only lives NINE minutes from my home arena.' Those were his exact words Liv. "Jordan is the third oldest one right? The one married to Heather?" Olivia asks, with a laugh "Yeah" Maxine says "he's 25 and talks as if he was in the 7th grade" "You do that most of the time too Max" Olivia says with a smirk "No I do not" Maxine says, smacking Olivia's arm repeatedly "okay, okay" Olivia says holding up her hands in defense "who are these 7 people?" "You, me, Vanessa, Adriana, Ponteh, Zach and Claire" Maxine says, counting them off on her long fingers "Seriously, Claire?" Olivia asks disgusted, her eyebrows raised "Claire is Zach girlfriend and one of my oldrst friends I knew her before I knew you" Maxine retorts "Yeah, whatever" Olivia says, dismissing the topic with a wave of her hand. As they turn the corner to go into the Cafe Maxine see's Zach, Dean and Claire sitting on the small rock wall near the flag pole "'eh Liv I'll meet you in there in a few I need to do something" Maxine says, already walking over to the group with no response from Olivia
"Hey guys" Maxine says, slipping between Zach and Dean "Hey legs" Dean says, wrapping his arm around Maxine's shoulder "Hey Max" Claire says, with a little wave from her spot on the other side of Zach "Yeah hey Maxine" Zach says with a small smile "So I got 7 tickets to the Carolina Hurricanes .VS. San Jose Sharks game today and three of these tickets have decided to grace your pockets with their presence" Maxine says swinging her legs a little "What time?" Zach asks, also watching her legs "7:00, I was thinking we leave at 6:30, get ther at 6:40-ish get food and shit?" Maxine says, looking out at the road in front of them "Sounds good. Meet you at Thomas at 6:15" Dean says "Nah come by the dorm, Zach should remember the way" Maxine says, looking at Zach "Yeah i remember be there at 6:00" Zach says, not meeting Maxine's gaze "'kay gotta go before Liv bites my head off" Maxine says, going to stand up but not before Dean gives her a kiss on the head like a little sister "Okay bye see you guys at 6:00" Maxine says, actually slipping out from under Dean's arm this time and waving goodbye as she walks towards the cafe

Walking into the cafe you smell heaven, you smell the bread, cookies and assorted pastries baking in the back, you also smell the bitterness of the coffee biting at your nose and what you see well a bunch of booths covered in dark red fabric with dark wood tables and a black and white tiled floor, also all the wrought iron tables and chairs scattered around the room, Olivia is sitting in a booth in the far corner with two other girls, one has black hair and is laughing loudly that's Adriana another one of Maxine's other dorm mates and the other girl is a lanky, auburn haired girl quietly laughing at whatever Olivia or Adriana had said, that's Vanessa, the one who's parents gave the couch to the girls, Vanessa is Maxine's third and final dorm mate she's also Zach, Maxine's Ex-boyfriend's, little sister, "So did Liv tell you about the Hockey game tonight?" Maxine asks, sliding in beside Vanessa "I'm excited my first NHL game" Vanessa says, with a huge smile on her face "how 'bout you Adri?" I ask, as she slides me over what I presume to be my regular order of a hot chocolate with milk and extra mini marshmallows "I'm kind of excited I just really don't like the cold" Adriana says, shrugging while taking a sip of her iced coffee "And you Liv?" Maxine says, glancing over at her friend "would be happier if Claire the Fair wan't coming" "That's an awful name it doesn't even make sense people want to be 'fair' yet you're calling this girl you hate Claire the Fair" Maxine says, raising an eyebrow "Makes no sense doesn't it" Liv say smirking, taking a sip of her tea "Yeah" Maxine says, "How are you with my brother coming?" Vanessa asks "fine Nes, Zach and I are friends" Maxine says, "I was actually just talking to him, Claire and Ponteh, their coming by the dorm at 6:00, we're leaving at 6:30" "Okay sounds good" Adriana says "Yeah I'm exci.." Vanessa starts but gets cut of by Maxine's cell phone singing Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls "It's Eric, I've got to get this" Maxine says, standing up and practically running out the door of the cafe
"Hey Er, what's up?" Maxine says,once she finally gets outside "Oh nothing I just wanted to know why there's a letter from the University of Pittsburgh here on my dining room table?" Eric asks,"Don't tell mom and dad, please Eric, I'll tell you tonight after the game I promise" Maxine says hurriedly "Okay Max, but you're staying at my house tonight, Jordan can drive your friends home" Eric says "Okay Eric just offer up our brother " Maxine says, "You know he'll do it" Eric counters "Yeah okay, see you after the game" "Yeah bye sis" Eric says.
As Zach walks up to her, Maxine ends the call. Zach finally reaches her and says, "Hey Maxine, can we talk please?" "Sure Zach" Maxine says, smiling and sends a quick text to Olivia, Adriana and Vanessa that said she would see them later, Maxine follows Zach around the corner of the building to the bench set against the back wall "What's up Zach?" Maxine asks, sitting beside him on the bench "I just wanted to say I'm sorry" Zach says, not meeting Maxine's gaze "Zach I got over you cheating on me a long time ago.Yeah I was torn up about it, but were friends now, right?" Maxine says, putting her finger under his chin and lifting his face to look at her "right. Thanks Maxine" Zach says, leaning forward and wrapping Maxine in a hug "No problem Zach, but really call me Max, Maxine sounds to formal" Maxine says, with a laugh, hugging Zach back "Okay I better get going" Zach says "Claire and Ponteh are probably waiting" "Yeah, okay see ya Zach" Maxine calls, still sitting on the bench as Zach moves away "Yeah see you at 6:00 Max" Zach says disappearing around the corner to go find Claire and Ponteh. "Yeah see you" Maxine says, to nothing.
