Stanley Cup Final Blues

St. Louis Bonding

I pulled up in my old truck I had bought while in San Jose. It was a beauty and it got me where I needed to go. I had parked in the spot I was told was mine. I got out and grabbed my hockey bag from the back. There were only about four other cars here so far, seeing as I came a little bit early. I made my way to the arena.

I finally found the locker room. There were a few guys there who were grabbing breakfast in the kitchen. All of their eyes were glued to me as I walked in. I tried not to notice as I walked by. I found my locker stall and dropped my bag in front of it. I smiled at the Sharks logo on the side of it. I hadn't received a Blues bag yet from the staff. I took a seat and started pulling everything out of the bag and organizing it.

"Here, let me do it. It's my job," one of the staff members said as he started to do it for me.

I smiled. "Thanks. I'm Robyn Sanheim, the new goaltender," I introduced.

He chuckled a bit. "I know who you are. I'm Jerry, the equipment manager."

"Nice to meet you. I am going to grab a drink though," I said as I waved off and went to the kitchen. I opened up the fridge and grabbed a fruit cup and a bottle of water. I could see David Backes, Lapierre and Ian Cole staring at me. I took a seat next to Backes. "Hey," I said awkwardly.

"Welcome to the Blues," Cole piped in.

I smiled. "Thanks, I'm Robyn Sanheim by the way."

The three men chuckled. "We know that already, sweetie," Backes teased.

"So where do they have you staying?" Maxim asked.

"The new kids on the block are together. I'm staying with Paajarvi in the suburbs some where. I was in a hotel last night, I'm supposed to move in this evening," I replied.

"Does he speak English?" they teased yet again.

I could hear a few shuffles and noises behind me. I figured a few more guys had shown up for this morning's practice. "Holy fuck! Who's 1975 Silverado is that in the lot?" I heard one of the guys holler as he walked into the kitchen.

"That would be my baby," I answered.

"That is one sexy truck," he complimented as he looked at me, "but not nearly as sexy as you, Ms. Sanheim," Alex Pietreangelo teased with a smirk across his face.

I shot him a glare as the guys were awaiting my reaction. "I was hoping that you would have at least told your boys to keep their dicks in their pants while I was here," I said as I gritted my teeth to David Backes.

Everyone rioted into a laughter except for Alex who still stood in the door frame. "You know you have to let go of the 2010 World Juniors some day," he argued back.

"I got over it a long time ago. It's not like it was my fault. I'm not the one that decided to pinch on a two on one at the blue!" I yelled.

"Yeah, I don't remember you stopping the puck either," he tested as he gave me a pissed off look.

Right then and there I snapped. I had enough of his bull shit. Ever since I was invited to the Ivan Hlinka tournament I had hated his guts. We were both nearly kicked off the team because of our feud. Alex thought he was the shit and screwed me over on purpose while I played in net. I immediately got up and stormed out of the room leaving some very confused teammates.

>>> PRACTICE

I had all of my equipment on and I had been doing great here so far. I was hardly phased when every time Alex would get the puck while in our zone and he would try to shoot it high at me. He had done that to me constantly while we played Juniors growing up. After the practice ending scrimmage everyone had skated off the ice, except for one player. Vladimir Tarasenko.

"Hey," he said awkwardly with his heavy accent.

I smiled to give him some confidence. I figured it was awkward for him to talk using English. "What's up?" I started stopped as we were about to get off the ice.

"Why you not like Alex?" he questioned after struggling with his English.

I chuckled. "Alex and I have some anger at each other from our World Junior days. I had let in 5 goals and he saved my ass by tying it up, but we lost in over time anyways. I always said that I wouldn't have needed his help if he didn't pinch on a two on one to let them back into the game," I admitted to the guy as he nodded his head.

He threw an arm around my shoulder as he let a huge smile spread across his face. "That is silly reason to hate Alex," he teased.

I shoved him a little bit as we walked back to the locker room. "Hit the showers, Tarasenko," I teased.
He walked off the his locker just like I did to mine. I started to take my pads off when Magnus came up to me wearing nothing but a towel around his waist. "You're moving in tonight, right?" he asked.

I tried to not stare at his body in awe, but his abs were chiseled and his black hair was very attractive. I get to live with this guy was the only thing that ran through my mind. Sure he was a year younger but he was still beautiful.

I smiled up at him as I finished getting undressed leaving me only in spandex shorts and a Blues shirt. "Yeah, I'll see you at the house then?" I asked.

"Yeah, for sure. A couple of the guys wanted me to ask if you would come out to eat with us as well? It's on the captain tonight," he persuaded with a small grin.

"Yeah, I'll go."

* * *

"So I just wanted to say that this goes out to the new kids Paajarvi and Sanheim. Hopefully a good season comes our way. Cheers!" Backes said and we all hit glasses and we chugged back our beers.

I noticed Magnus coming in my direction. I smiled at his beautiful presence as he had a half smile on his face. "So Robyn Sanheim, your Stanley Cup Final experience is fresher than anyone else's on the team. Do you have tips for me?" he teased.

I let out a sigh before I took a long sip of my drink. "Four words for you my fellow teammate; don't fuck it up." He roared with laughter at my half hearted joke.

It got slightly quiet. "I don't think you fucked it up. You only let in two goals that night. You were stellar. Trust me. I think you did your part," he spoke intensely as he stared into my eyes.

I chewed on my lip nervously. "W-Well thank you," I stuttered.

"My pleasure."

Sorry it's been a while.

Yeah well a lot of really good players actually did play for the London Knights during the same time I set it in. But for guys like Eberle, Benn, etc. she played with during WJ's. But with Stamkos, she lived in the same place as him growing up. :)
