Chapter Twenty Four

-Sidney-

It was all over, three days had passed since that day. Kyle was taken to prison and was not given bail, so he had to stay there until the trial which was in three weeks. Julie and Josh had moved back into their apartment in the shop and I was staying there until I knew for certain that they were safe.

The game between the Penguins and the Flyers was postponed until last night, where we beat them and then went out to celebrate. Andy, Julie's sister, had flown back to Texas to get her family and bring them to Pittsburgh, because they haven't seen each other in seven years.

Right now, Tyler and I had just pulled up in front of the shop because we had just gotten out of practice. We walked into the doors and were immediately hit with the smell of chocolate. Allie came out to greet us and then placed her hand on my arm to stop me.

"She's been baking up a storm in there, don't bother her," she said and I sighed.

Julie has been nervous that Kyle was going to break out of prison and the only thing that seemed to keep her mind off of it when I wasn't around, was baking.

"I'll just go up and see how the little man was doing," I said and Allie nodded her head and then her and Tyler walked over towards the counter, while I headed up the stairs and into Julie's apartment.

"Sidney!" I heard and then felt someone grab onto my legs.

"Hey little man," I said and then looked down to see Josh smiling, "How are you?"

"I'm all right."

"You been having anymore nightmares?" I asked and he sadly nodded his head, "It'll be all right, you're a brave little dude."

"Mommy's scaring me," he said and I laughed and bent down to his level.

"Your Mommy's just scared. She doesn't want to lose you because she loves you so much," I explained and Josh nodded his head.

"I wanna do something for Mommy to show her I love her," he said and I nodded my head.

"I'll help you out," I said and his face lit up and he shook his head furiously, "How about we make dinner and I get some flowers."

"Ok!"

"Do you know what your Mommy likes?"

"Chicken mam-su-la?" he said while trying to sound it out and I laughed.

"Marsala?"

"Yeah!" he said and laughed and nodded my head.

"All right," I said and then stood up, "I'll get the stuff and we'll make dinner."

"OK!" he said and then smiled.

I walked out of the apartment and snuck out of the shop and headed towards the grocery store. I picked up everything that I would need for dinner and then ended up picking up some ice cream and some flowers for Julie. I was gone for probably about an hour, and then I walked back into the shop and saw that Julie was hard at work making cupcakes, cookies, cakes and those Oreo balls.

'...She's working so hard because she's stressed...' I thought as I walked back up the stairs and into the apartment, "You ready little man?"

"YEAH!!!" he said and I smiled and then walked around the kitchen to find a vase. I didn't so I texted Tyler to ask Allie and he said that she would be down with one, "What do I have to do?"

"Sit and watch me work my magic," I laughed and he smiled.

"Don't burn apartment down," he joked and I ruffled his head.

'...I'll try my best...' I thought as I got the chicken out and placed it in the fridge and then started to slice the mushrooms.

"Sidney?"

"Kitchen!" I yelled and I looked up to see Allie and Tyler walking in.

"What are you doing?" Tyler asked and I laughed when he took a picture.

"I trying to help Julie out and decided that the little man and I would make dinner," I said and Allie smiled.

"Vase?" she asked while holding up the vase and I pointed over towards the dozen roses by the sink, "Awwww, that's so cute! Why don't you buy me flowers?!"

"I'm sorry," Tyler said and I laughed.

"Mommy can't know! Surprise!" Josh said and Allie nodded her head.

"I'll go make sure that she doesn't come up," Allie said and then she and Tyler left.

-Julie-

My mind has been going a mile a minute for the past three days. If I was scared before, I was terrified now. If Kyle was about to find me everywhere I went and then set up all of those booby traps in an arena, who knew what he was capable of. I was terrified that he was going to escape from prison and come after us again. The only thing that was probably keeping me sane at the moment was the fact that I was putting all of my energy into baking.

I heard someone walk into the kitchen and turned my head to see that Marc was here. I smiled and then took a cake out of the over and threw it onto the counter.

"Bonjour Marc," (Hello Marc) I said and he walked over towards me and sat on the counter.

"Bonjour Julie, comment faites-vous?" (Hello Julie, how are you doing) he asked as I took the cake out of the pan and placed it on the top counter to cool, "Vous semblez faire une quantité excessive de cuisson." (You seem to be doing an excessive amount of baking)

"Il efface mon esprit, et mon esprit est définitivement occupé par des pensées," (It clears my mind, and my mind is definitely occupied by thoughts) I said as I poured some cupcake batter into the pan and then threw it into the oven.

"Pourquoi ne pas vous détendre? Kyle est en prison, vous et Josh sont en sécurité," (Why can't you relax? Kyle is in prison, you and Josh are safe) he said as he placed his hand on my arm and I looked at him.

"Je ne sais pas si je pourrai jamais se sentir en sécurité jusqu'à ce que je sais qu'il est mort," (I don't know if I'll ever feel safe until I know that he's dead) I said and Marc sighed and then hopped off of the counter and hugged me.

"Vous savez que les gars et moi-même sommes là pour vous, et Sidney se soucie de vous profondément. Il vous regarde de la même manière que je regarde ma femme," (You know that the guys and I are here for you, and Sidney cares about you deeply. He looks at you the same way that I look at my wife) he said as he pulled away, but left his hands on my shoulders.

"Merci, Marc. Je ne sais pas ce que je ferais sans toi et les gars. Vous les gars sont vraiment une bénédictio," (Thank you, Marc. I don't know what I would do without you and the guys. You guys are truly a blessing) I said as I hugged him again and then turned back to the cupcakes.

"Julie!"

I looked over and saw that Tyler and Allie had walked into the kitchen and I smiled towards them, "Hi guys."

"Marc, what's up, I didn't know you were here," Tyler said and Marc.

"Vero and I wanted to check up on Julie, but when I left, she was called into work," he said and they nodded their head.

"Take a cake home," I said and Marc smiled and shook his head.

"She's on some special diet and if I bring it home she'll tear my head off. She's miserable," he said and I laughed.

"That usually happens," Allie said and then Tyler snorted.

"I remember when you tried to go on a diet," he said and Allie slapped his arm and we all laughed.

"Mommy! Mommy!"

"Hi baby," I said and then bent down to hug him.

"Come upstairs! I wanna show you something," he said and I looked up towards Allie to see that she was smiling and nodding her head.

"All right, let me clean up here and I'll be right up," I said and then stood up.

"I'll clean up here, Julie, you go upstairs," Allie said and I sighed and then nodded my head.

I walked over towards the sink and then washed my hands and then took my apron off. I said goodbye to Marc and then Josh grabbed my hand and led me upstairs.
