Rescue Me (Sidney Crosby)

Rescue Me (Sidney Crosby) 063:

Chapter Sixty Three

“So Dan called,” I said as Sidney walked out of the bathroom and threw a shirt on.

“Why?”

“He ya- he told me to tell you that the team won,” I said as I walked over towards the bed.

“Oh,” Sidney said as he walked over towards me and sat down.

“Sid,” I sighed and ran my hand through my hair and looked at the ground, “I told you that I never wanted you to risk your career for me,” I muttered and then felt the bed shift.

“Julie,” he said and I looked up at him, “I know what you’re saying, I understand it, but,” he sighed and rubbed his head, “I couldn’t leave you.”

“Sid-“

“And then when Josh was taken- I couldn’t possibly leave!” Sidney said and I jumped onto his lap and ran my fingers through his hair, “I knew that you were going to be upset- with Josh being taken away I mean, so I just wanted to-“ I pressed my lips onto his and felt his hand wrap around my waist.

“Thank you, Sid,” I said as I pulled my face back and looked at Sidney, “It’s gunna be all right, thank you.”

“I have a game tomorrow-“

“You’re going right?!” I asked and he smirked and nodded his head.

“Will you and Josh- your parents too, will you come?” he asked and I smiled and nodded my head, “Great.”

“Why don’t you go bond with my parents over breakfast, mom made pancakes,” I said and he smiled and kissed my cheek, “You can tell them about the game, they’ll be happy to go.”

“I think your parents like me,” he said and I smiled and I nodded my head.

“They definitely do,” I smiled and Sidney stood up and picked me up off of the ground. I laughed and then felt Sidney place me on the ground.

“Where’s Josh?”

“Allie dropped Conner off this about an hour or so ago; he and Josh are outside playing,” I said and Sidney nodded his head.

-Sidney-

“I appreciate everything you’ve done for my family, Sidney,” Julie’s father said as we watched Josh’s hockey practice.

“I love your daughter, Mr. McHale,” I said and then looked over towards him, “Your daughter and your grandson.”

“I know you do son,” he said and then patted my shoulder, “You wouldn’t have flown us out here to get Josh if you didn’t care.”

“I’d like to talk to you about your daughter and son,” I said as I looked back at the ground and then rubbed my face.

“What about them?”

“I few months ago, something happened,” I said and then rubbed my face and looked around, “Ya know, maybe this isn’t the place to talk.”

“Julie’s taking her mother out tonight, we’ll talk when we get back to the house,” Mr. McHale said and I nodded my head, “Is everything all right?”

“It is now, but I just thought that you should know,” I said and he nodded his head.

-Julie-

“Hey, you’re back!” I said as I saw Sidney, my dad and Josh walk into the house.

“Yeah,” Sidney said as he walked over towards me and pressed his lips onto mine.

“How was practice?”

“Good, Josh was awesome,” he said and I smiled and then looked to the side to see that Josh was dragging his bag into the house.

“Hey buddy,” I smiled and then bent down to see my sleepy son walking over towards me.

“Daddy and Poppie got me McDonald’s!” Josh said and I smiled and kissed his head.

“They did!” I laughed and then stood up, “How ‘bout you eat it in the kitchen?”

“Poppie, will you come with me?” Josh said and I smiled and watched as my dad laughed and took Josh’s hand, walking into the kitchen with him.

“So what are your plans for tonight?” I asked and Sidney shrugged his shoulders and then placed his hands on his hips.

“Just bonding with your dad,” he said and I smiled and draped my arms over his shoulders and danced my fingers into his hair, “I love you.”

“I love you too,” I smiled and then pressed my lips onto his and felt his arms wrap tightly around my waist.

“Hey Julie, what time do you- Oh, I’m sorry,” I heard my mom say, and I turned my head to see my mom smirking in the hallway.

“Mom,” I laughed and pulled away from Sidney.

“What time do you want to head out?”

“Uh, give me about a half hour, I’m gunna go change,” I said and my mom nodded her head and then walked into the kitchen.

Sidney followed me upstairs and I walked over towards the closet and grabbed jeans and a nice t-shirt.

“Where are you going tonight?”

“Somewhere in the city, probably that pub that you took me to,” I said and he nodded his head and sat on the bed.

“Be careful, Julie,” Sidney said as he walked over towards me, wrapped his arms around my waist and pressed my back into his chest.

“I will,” I smiled and then turned in his arms and placed my hand on his cheek, “I guess I don’t have to say to get along with my father, because you seem to like one another,” I said and Sidney smirked.

Once I had finished getting dressed and ready to spend time with my mom, I had did one final look in the mirror, fixing my hair a little and then lightly glided my hands above the spot where I had the two staples in my head.

“I think those can come out in a day or two,” Sidney said as he came over and I nodded my head, “You should wear this,” he said and I looked to see that he was trying to put a necklace on me.

I smiled and picked my hair up and allowed him to place the necklace on. Once I felt the cold metal touch my chest, I felt Sidney’s lips on my shoulder and his fingers down my arm. I picked the gold chained necklace to see that it had a small penny size medallion attached to it.

“It’s beautiful,” I smiled and tried to see the symbols on the medallion, but I couldn’t.

“My mother gave it to me a long time again,” Sidney said as he moved my hair and kissed my neck, “I want you to have it.”

“Sid,” I smiled and then looked at him, “Thank you.”

“It was always my good luck charm in hockey,” he said and I looked into his eyes.

“If you lose your next game, this is going back to you,” I laughed and he smirked and shook his head and then grabbed my hand and kissed the inside of my hand.

“It’s yours.”

“And I want you to have your good luck charm, Sid.”

“You’re my good luck charm,” he said and then pressed his lips onto mine, “You better get moving before your mom decides to leave without you.”

I laughed and nodded my head. We headed downstairs and I got my mom and we grabbed our coats. Sidney and my dad walked us to the door and I watched as Josh ran over towards me as I opened the door.

“Josh, you have fun with your dad and grandpa tonight,” I said as I hugged my son and then stood up looking at my dad and Sidney, “You boys have fun tonight.”

“We will,” Sidney said and then kissed my cheek and squeezed my hand, “You two have fun too.”

“Just dinner and a night on the town,” I said and then waved bye to everyone and walked out of the house with my mother.

-Sidney-

“So what did you want to tell me?” Mr. McHale asked as we walked into the living room.

I looked to see that Josh was watching TV and looked like he was falling asleep as well. I sighed and then motioned for him to follow me into the kitchen.

“You know about Kyle?” I asked and he nodded his head, “Well, he almost didn’t go to jail.”

“What? How?”

“Not enough evidence,” I said and then hopped onto the counter as Mr. McHale sat on the seat, “Allie, Julie’s friend, did something stupid and made a deal with a Russian mob man, and he planted evidence to help put Kyle away.”

“Where are you going with this, son?”

I rubbed my face and took a deep breath, “When Allie was going to pay off the mob man, Julie followed her, at the time we didn’t know what was going on. Julie was found out and taken, they did stuff to her-“

“What kind of stuff?”

I rubbed my hands together and I could feel myself getting worked up just thinking about it. I told him everything, everything that happened, from her being abused, shot and the real reason why Josh was put into the shelter when Julie was sleeping at the hospital.

“There is something that I can do,” I said and looked at Mr. McHale, “Sir I love your daughter and grandson, I want to be there to protect them. I mean, I know we’ve only known each other for a little over eight months, but I love them, and I want to give Julie and Josh the good life that they deserve.”

“What are you saying son?”

“I’d like your permission to marry your daughter.”
