Love is only for the lucky
Meeting Eddie
I never thought that Diana would be getting married to Chris Higgins, who has unbelieveable abs and is super hot, or that she would ask me to be a co-maid of honor. Diana and I had been friends since high school and we made sure we kept in touch while she was in Vancouver and I was in Chicago. When she told me the news I almost didn’t believe her. As the months went by I helped as much as I could when I didn’t have to work. The days went by fast and the next thing I knew it was two days before the wedding and I was flying to Thunder Bay for the rehearsal dinner.
When I stepped out off the plane and made my way to baggage claim all I heard was,
“Jennie! Over here!”
I spun around and saw Diana waving at me. I quickly grabbed my bag and made my way over to her.
“It’s been like forever since I’ve seen you!”
“I know and now I’m getting married like seriously where did the time go?”
We laughed and made our way to her car where I put my bag in the back and then climbed in the passenger side.
“So how has the Chicago lifestyle been treating you?”
“Not bad I mean it’s kinda fun being an ice girl.”
“Yeah sure it is I mean making NHL players hard has to be fun.”
I glared at Diana which made her laugh. As we made our way to the hotel we all would be there was a little bit of silence.
“You know there’s going to be some really good looking guys there and their all for partying.”
“Yeah that’s cause they won the stanley cup.”
When we got there I unbuckled and got my stuff out of the back and Diana showed me where my room was.
“Okay so you got and hour and 30 minutes to get ready before the dinner I suggest making your self looking hot. You never know who’s going to be looking. Just meet us all at the dining hall.”
I rolled my eyes and closed the door. I put my suitcase on the bed and pulled out my bridesmaid dress and a black lace dress. I slowly pulled on the black lace dress and a pair of black heels. I grabbed a hanger and hung up my dress for the wedding. I took a quick look in the mirror and I headed downstairs to the bar. I had about 45 minutes to kill before I decided the bar would be a fine place to do it. When I got there I ordered a beer and sat down. As I waited I saw someone sit next to me who looked pretty familiar but I couldn’t put my finger on it.
“Hi I’m Eddie.”
“Jennie.”
I said introducing myself as I got my beer and took a sip.
“So what brings you to Thunderbay? You don’t sound canadian.”
“My friend is getting married to Chris Higgins. Tonights the rehearsal dinner.”
“Weird. My buddy Chris Higgins is getting married to with his rehearsal dinner tonight too.”
That’s when it finally clicked. “Oh my god that’s Eddie Lack.” I thought to myself. I slowly sipped my beer as he ordered a drink.
“So how long have you known Diana?”
“We’ve been friends since high school.”
We talked like this for a half hour while drinking our drinks. When it was 15 minutes til we both had to be at the dining hall we both paid what we needed to and headed over still laughing and talking as if we were old buddies.
“There you two are!”
Eddie and I both looked at each other confused.
“We’re early.” we said in unision.
“Yeah I know I know but here this is where you sit Eddie and Jennie you sit here.”
As we both sat down we noticed that we were sitting directly across from each other. As the dinner went on Eddie would either nudge my foot and pretend that he didn’t do anything or act like the Swedsh Cheif from the muppets until Chris would look over at him with a death glare, which made me laugh harder. I could over hear Chris and Diana talking.
“I think Eddie and Jennie are into each other.”
“You think so? Well thank god I swear Jennie needs to get laid.”
I turned a little red when I heard this but then Eddie whispered across the table from me.
“Hey later, like after this, we should go back down to that bar.”
“Yeah? Why should I do that?”
“‘Cause I don’t want to drink alone. Come with me.”
I laughed and nodded my head. I guess I had plans that night, the first time in a long time.
