The Muppets
After the rehearsal dinner ended I headed down to the bar with Eddie. As we sat down the announcer guy said it was karaoke night. The next thing I knew I got dragged up on the stage. When Somebody To Love by Queen started playing I smiled since it was one of my favorite songs. I belted the song which had the bar crowd cheering, but I couldn’t help but keep locking eyes with Eddie. As the song ended I walked off the stage while people were clapping. After a while I made my way back to my seat by Eddie.
“You have a...uh… beautiful voice.”
“Thanks Eddie.”
I grabbed my beer that was sitting on the counter and drank it slowly as I listened to people singing random songs.
“So Jennie what do you do for a living?”
“I’m one of the ice girls for the Chicago Blackhawks.”
I saw Eddie’s eyes light up a bit and a smile come across his face.
“So you work for the NHL?”
“Yeah and during the offseason I’m a camp counselor.”
“Nice nice… I’m just a goalie for a living.”
I laughed a little.
“I never would have guessed.”
Eddie laughed his adorable Swedish laugh which made me smile and laugh a little bit too. Eddie looked at me with a sweet look and Far Away by Nickelback started playing.
“Hey you wanna dance?”
“Sure.”
We headed to the dance floor and started slow dancing.
“You know I didn’t think actually think you were going to say yes to having some drinks with me.”
“Why’s that?”
I flicked up my blue eyes to meet his soft brown eyes.
“Well I...uh… thought you were kinda out of my league.”
I smiled at the thought. No guy had ever thought I was out of his league before. I felt my face go red and heard Eddie laugh.
“I didn’t mean to embarrass you.”
“It’s okay Eddie… I think it’s sweet you think I’m out of your league.”
Eddie looked down smiling. I couldn’t help but smile too, I mean if you knew Eddie’s smile you’d know it’s contagious. After a little while Eddie locked his eyes with mine.
“Can I ask you something Jennie?”
“Yeah sure.”
“This may sound odd… but do you want to go up to my room and watch the muppets movie?”
I laughed and smiled at Eddie. My first thought was ‘I wonder if that’s all he wants’ but I really didn’t care.
“Yeah, I’d love to go watch the muppets movie with you you silly Swede.”
Eddie smiled and we both headed up to his room. As we watched the movie I leaned on Eddie and slowly fell asleep. Right before I was out I felt two strong arms wrap around me and I fell asleep.
