Spraks Fly

After Party

Renee's Point of View~

As everyone filed into the Fez, the wedding party took pictures. We took pictures, loads and loads of pictures. Annlie wanted some of everyone. Granted I wasn't the most photogenic person in the world, I had to admit being photographed by four different photographers all day, like paparazzi had its appeal.

"Renee, I want one of you and Kris together," she said winking at me.

"Your wish is my command," I said smiling and doing a curtsy.

We posed for a a shot together, then for a group photo and finally we were finished. Heading into the reception area we waited to be introduced. As Beautiful Day streamed through the speakers we were introduced one by one.

"Bridesmaid and Groomsman Renee Semkowitz and Kris Letang," the DJ announced us as we walked into the crowded hall and made our way over to the head table. The room looked phenomenal and the cake was perfect with the two little penguins. I had to give Annlie credit, they definitely made it more personable and didn't take away from the class of it. Sitting down Kris placed his hand on my knee and whispered in my ear, "You look beautiful."

"Thank you," I said blushing.

"And now, making their first appearance as husband and wife, please welcome mister and misses Evgeni and Annlie Malkin."

Standing up I cheered for the two as others picked up their glasses and clinked away with their forks, signaling the newlyweds to kiss.

Annlie looked radiant as she strutted over to the table with Evgeni's arm around her waist. They truly were made for each other. Seeing the two of them together gave me hope. A hope that I had thought was gone forever.

As music began to play people got up and began dancing on the dance floor, leaving the head table to eat dinner. As I finished my last bite of applesauce Kris leaned over and asked, "Would you like to dance?"

Looking at him I smiled, "Sure."

The song was an upbeat tune, one that I had heard a time or two before but Kris seemed to know every beat. We moved and swayed and even did a little pelvic grind before the DJ chimed in and announced for everyone to circle around the newlyweds while they danced to their wedding song This I Swear by Nick Lachey.

As I stood watching the two of them, I longed for that moment, I wanted to find that happiness, that passion that they shared. Interrupting my thoughts Kris put his arms around me and rested his chin on my shoulder.

"That could be us someday," he said kissing my neck.

"It could?" I asked baffled.

"Yeah, it could Renee. Look, I've been waiting for the right time to tell you this and seeing the way you are looking at them makes me realize that you want exactly what I want. To find love and I believe that I have found that Renee," he said taking my hands in his, "Renee, every time I am around you my stomach feels like it's doing somersaults. You are beautifully stunning, smart and there is no question in my mind that I am head over heels in love with you."

Caught off guard I stared.

"You're in love with me?"

"Yes, and I can understand if you aren't ready to say it back to me. I know it is a big step and I don't want you to feel pressured or anything.."

"I love you too Kris," I said interrupting him. He had a tendency to babble when he got nervous I noticed.

"Really?"

Nodding my head at him I kissed him on the mouth wrapping my arms around his neck and just like our first kiss at my house, sparks flew.

This was what love really felt like, maybe I would be so lucky after all to have what Evgeni and Annlie shared.

"Alright if all of the ladies could gather around, Annlie is going to do the bouquet toss," I heard come across interrupting my thoughts.

Annlie looked over at me and winked before turning back to and throwing her bouquet over her head. It soared through the air over all of the women crowding and lunging to get it first landing, smack dab in my hands.

Looking up at her I found her smiling at me, "It's your turn girl."
