The One Night That Changed My Life Forever

"So how was France? Still a little jealous you didn't invite me though!" El said as we stood in line for coffee.
"It was great, sorry I needed a date to a wedding though!"
"Fine!" she huffed, grabbing her cup of coffee and sitting down at an empty table.
"Next time. We can make a girls trip out of it!" I said laughing, and taking my seat across the table.
"I guess that's fine." She said a little smile creeping onto her face. "I've always wanted to go so bad! And you have connections but I've never been able to go there yet!"
"Sorry. Maybe Brandon has a few vacations up his sleeves?"
"Haha funny."
"So how was last night?"
"It was good. We ordered in some dinner and watched a movie, and fell asleep on the couch."
"Awe that's so cute" I said making a face. " I remember when Pat and I were in that stage."
"Great now you're comparing us to your relationship" she said sarcastically.
"Yup. Look how great we turned out." I said to her winking.
"Soooo….Anyways way to change the topic. What did you guys get up to?"
"Well, the first day was spent traveling and sleeping." I said as started to recall the events of the trip.
"I bet. With the whole 7 hour time difference, that would have put your sleep out of whack!"
"Anyways, I visited with the fam, and then headed out dress shopping with my French sister." I said smiling. "You would have loved it!"
"Stop rubbing it in already!" She said laughing as she took a sip of her coffee.
"Well you asked!" I said stating my reasoning and throwing my hands in the air trying to seem annoyed,
"Whatever" she said shaking her head. "Continue."
"Well….as I was saying when you so rudely interrupted we went shopping. I spent a day showing Pat the city, and we went out a couple times with the fam. We also went to a party at my ex boyfriend's house. No don't worry it was fine." I said laughing at her expression. "Then we had the wedding, and voila our trip in a nutshell." I said winking.
"Ex, as in the one you kinda dumped for Mike?"
"Haha yah, you remembered that story huh?"
"Yup. That guy was hot! Did seeing him make you regret breaking things off."
"Honestly, no. We were great together but it was never serious, and neither of us planned on having a future together. I did feel a bit guilty after ending it the way I did, but he's happy now so that's what matters. I do however regret leaving him for Mike. Why couldn't I have met Pat earlier" I said pouting.
"Well that's good. Atleast you met your Pat, I haven't got one yet!"
"We will have to change that now won't we" I said winking, instantly trying to think of ideas.
"What's going through that brain of yours? I know that face!" She said laughing.
"We need to make you irresistible, and then make Mister Brandon jealous!"
"Why do I feel like this is most likely to backfire?"
"I don't know. You have no trust in Pat and I's scheming skills?"
"Yah, maybe that's it!" She said laughing.
"Well, I'm going to ignore that and help you anyways being the most amazing best friend ever!"
"So what's the idea?"
"Well, we have to make it seem like you aren't remotely interested giving him the thrill of the chase!"
"That worked on Pat?"
"Haha Pat and I met on different circumstances, but are you kidding my boy wouldn't need to chase." I said laughing, remembering back to Pat's past. No point in judging a person's past I thought to myself.
"Haha no. But you got that boy whipped. He hasn't looked at another girl in forever. Brandon's been whining about the fact he doesn't make his bar trips as frequently as he used to." She said laughing.
"I guess." I said smiling. "So the plan is to invite some of the younger guys on the team to go out tonight, with Pat, Jonny, Amanda, you, and I. The other two just got in yesterday for the gala and the whatever the boys are winning this year ceremony"
"Hmmmm…"
"Yes, so we invite a bunch of the guys, but not Brandon. But we make sure that he hears wind of it, and gets invited out by one of the younger guys. Then you have a great time, and in turn make him jealous, and then he will have to make his move. See harmless! Plus if he doesn't make his move, you've got a bunch of sexy hockey players that will!" I said winking and laughing as I saw the gears in her head turning.
"So he'll think I just forgot to mention it. Then he will see that I can have fun with other guys too."
"Yup. Then he will man up and ask you out. I mean it took Pat a while too, but it was under different circumstances all together. " I said smiling.
"I guess. But you better not be ruing my chances with him!"
"I'll just have to find you someone else then! I hear Crosby's looking. He's super nice too!" I said laughing.
"Hmm, now that there is a thought."
"Ok. So you in?"
"What for a date with Crosby? Just kidding, yes!"
"Alright just let me text Pat the plan." I said grabbing my phone out.
Pat~~ Well aren't you the little schemer! Who knew my girl was a matchmaker. I like it :)
Me~~ Great! So your in?
Pat~~ Could I ever say no to you? Plus there's so much tension between the two of them. They just need to get together already.
Me~~ So who would go for being used as a jealousy magnet?
Pat~~ Shawzy owes me one. Plus he's never one to decline an invitation from a hot girl!
Me~~ Alright. Make sure he texts Brandon asking him if he's coming out tonight, and then to ask surprised and text back that El had invited him and that he should come seeing as most of the team was going.
Pat~~ No wonder we are dating ;)
Me~~ You love it. Anyways you can handle it from your end? I'll worry about the girl :P
Pat~~ Yup. Plan's already in motion. Dress sexy for me tonight ;)
Me~~ Don't I always?
Pat~~ I guess you're right! Man I lucked out.
Me~~ You sure did. I'll see you tonight babe. Text me with the details.
"Alright, all set for tonight. Now we have to find you a dress!" I said smiling at Ellie. We headed to the mall, where I picked out some dresses.
"Could you go any tighter?" El asked as she exited the change room.
"Yes. And that looks amazing on you. It's perfect for the occasion. It has the right amount of sexy with added bonuses. It works well with your curves!"
"Really?"
"Yes! I'm actually jealous of how good you look right now! All we need is a pair of heels and you will be blowing the poor kid's mind after tonight." I said laughing. "Now I'm going to text a picture to Shawzy to further move along my plan."
"A picture? Is that really necessary?"
"Yup. Don't worry I'll make sure Shawzy deletes it tomorrow" I said laughing and snapping the picture of her blowing a kiss.

Shaw~~ Hey no problem. This will be fun!
Me~~ Here send this picture to him.
Shaw~~ Goodness, I'm going to have that to dance with tonight?
Me~~ Remember the plan. Don't go turning into a horny boy on me now!!
Shaw~~ Just kidding. But damn she's looking good. Oh and by the way Brandon hasn't responded as quickly as usual to that text.
Me~~ Well thanks again. We are going to continue shopping! :)
"Alrighty. You ready?" I asked El as she came back out in her clothes.
"Yup. Thank goodness this isn't too expensive. You buying that dress?"
"Yah. I got to thank Pat somehow. Plus it's too gorgeous not to buy it." I said shrugging my shoulders.
"Let's get out of here!" She said making her way to checkout. We got out of the store and headed home. It was already pretty late once we got back. So we decided to get our dresses quickly dry-cleaned while we did our hair and got ready. I ran back out to get our dresses just as the store was closing, and headed back home. Seeing the whole ensemble together made me love it that much more. We put on the finishing touches and waited for Pat to arrive around around 8:30.
"Damn! I said sexy, not take me here and now" Pat said making his way in, and giving me a kiss, only after eying my outfit up and down.
"You like?" I said winking.
"Hell ya. Again prettiest girl at the bar, well except little miss El here is giving you pretty good competition." He said laughing.
"Perfect. That's what I was going for. Now lets get going, I can't wait for this night to start!" I said laughing and following Pat and El out of the apartment.
"Wow Kaner. Two beautiful ladies tonight!" Jon snickered as we walked into the club one on each side of Pat.
"You know how I roll. Nothing but beauty passes through me." He said pulling us both in close.
"Haha ok. Hey Rach how's it going?"
"Great! Can't wait to initiate the make Brandon jealous mission!" I said winking.
"This is going to be a great night!: He said laughing. "No fights!"
"Alright. Where's Shawzy? He's being a lousy date!"
"Over by the bar. But it looks like he's making his way over." I saw that indeed he was on his way.
"Well that's our cue to leave" I said laughing, as the four of us left El and Shawzy alone.

Ellie's POV
I hope this works. I thought to myself as I was ditched by my best friend.
"Hey El." Andrew Shaw said pulling me in for an awkward hug.
"Hey." I said smiling.
"So, you ready to make Saader jealous?"
"I guess, Is it going to work?"
"Oh, honey it's already working" he said nodding slightly to where Brandon was glaring beer in hand.
"Great!"
"Lets dance" he whispered in my eat. Why not? I thought to myself.
"Sure." I said laughing. "You sure know how to be subtle." I said winking.
"Oh babe, you ain't seen anything yet. That boy will be going home with you tonight." He said wiggling his eyebrows, leading me onto the dance floor.
"I hope." I muttered trying to be quiet.
"I heard that missy." Andrew said laughing. "If he's stupid I won't decline that invitation. That boy doesn't know what he's missing."
"Shit. I didn't mean to say that out loud."
"It's alright. I'm a guy we love these things." He pulled me closer starting to move side to side.
"I hadn't noticed." I said laughing mirroring his movements.I couldn't deny this boy was a good time. Maybe I had been over thinking this whole Brandon thing. He wasn't making his move. Maybe he would never like me like that? I found myself thinking as I danced with one of his teammates.

Pat's POV
"Man you totally rocked it on El's outfit today. She looks smokin'!" I said to Rach as we walked up to the bar.
"Thanks. Tonight was important to her." Rach said laughing. "I did do pretty good huh?" She said looking at her best friend dancing with Shaw. I mean the kid was loving it, as soon as he heard the opportunity to make Brandon jealous he swooped in.
"Yes, you did. Did you wear that dress for me?" I said taking her in once more.
"Hmmmm. Maybe?" She said shrugging, a smirk forming.
"Well, I approve" I said whispering in her ear.
"Do you?"
"Yes." I said smiling. "Hey Saad. How's it going?" I asked my teammate beside us at the bar.
"Just great!" He said seething.
" El's looking pretty hot tonight huh?"
"Sure." He said returning his focus on her, drinking his beer.
"Well I think she looks pretty damn hot!" Rach exclaimed from beside me.
"Could we just stop talking about her?"
"What you put in your drink Saad. We were just being nice." I said shaking my head at my obviously jealous teammate.
"Nothing."
"You sure? You seem pretty jealous mate!"
"Why would I be jealous?"
"I don't know. You two just seemed pretty tight, that's all" I said shrugging.
"She can do whatever she wants with whomever. I don't care" he said aggressively.
"Haha. Totally jealous." I said laughing and shaking my head.
"Totally." Rach added.
"Ok! Fine. I'm jealous. What do you want me to say? I fucking like that girl and she is grinding up and down Shaw. I mean really what does she see in him?"
Rach burst into laughter. We exchanged high fives. "I knew it!" She exclaimed.
"I don't how you see this as funny!" Brandon said seriously.
"Um, because she's obviously using him to make you jealous man" I said shaking my head.
"Doesn't look that way from here." He said taking another beer from the bartender.
"Well you can either man up and ask her to dance, or you can let Shaw take your place. It's up to you man. I for one am going to go dance with my beautiful girlfriend. Good luck!" I said clapping his shoulder and wrapping my arm around my stunning girlfriend and heading out to the dance floor.
"Well played Carson." I whispered in her ear as she grinded against me.
"Why thank you Kane!" She said.
"You think it's going to work?" I asked.
"You know full well it's going to work. You're a guy, tell me that won't be enough to make you crazy."
"I'm glad we never went through that stage." I said laughing.
"Me too. But you would have loved the chase. Though it wouldn't have lasted long, knowing me." She said laughing.
"Why chase, when you can get." I said winking.
"Exactly. You could have had anyone. Why choose me?"
"Because you are stunning, smart, and you love me for me. I've never had a girlfriend truly interested in me and not what they can get out of me."
"That sucks. I wouldn't take advantge of you. I hope you know that!" She whispered.
"Wasn't worried for a second babe. You are much more than a pretty face."
"I love you." She leaned up to give me a kiss.
"You too." I said smiling down and pulling her closer. "Look it's working." I said resting my head on hers.
"Good! Those two are too stubborn." She said smiling watching as Brandon stepped in for a dance.
"Haha I'd say I did alright" Andrew said laughing and coming toward us. "Damn, that girl can dance!"
"Thanks Shawzy!" Rach said giving him a hug. "Now I think you deserve a drink. Let me buy ya a beer."
"Two beauties in one night. I'm on a roll. Thanks" he said grabbing the beer.
"Now go have fun." I said clapping his shoulder.
" I plan on it!"
"Haha, enjoy being single" I said winking and returning my focus bach to Rach, "So not worth it, being single! Too boring!" I said laughing as I leaned down to kiss Rach.
"You would say that with your girlfriend being right here." She said winking.
"I had my single phase, but honestly it got tiring after a while. I was always jealous of the other guys with wives to go home to. But I couldn't seem to shake the image people had of me so I would never find someone who genuinely cared. Plus I have a bad sense in women, usually!" I said laughing.
"So I'm the exception huh?" She said smiling up at me, her head resting on my chest.
"Why yes you are." I said giving her a little kiss.
"I'm really glad we met each other."
"Believe me Rach I am too." I said squeezing her into me. "Saader looks like he's having fun." I said laughing.
"Ahh yes. Looks like the two of them made up." She said laughing. "I can't believe we look like that."
"Haha but way cuter!" I said laughing at the two on the dance floor.
"Totally. Plus I'm pretty good at this." She said moving her hips rhythmically against me.
"Yah we are way more advanced in this area." I said moving my hands up and down her body.
"So how late we staying tonight" She asked winking.
"Oh I'm ready whenever you are" I said laughing.
"I'm thinking another hour or so." She said smirking and moving even closer against me.
"You're such a tease" I said in her ear.
"Nope." She said shaking her head.
"Yup." I said kissing her neck.
"Alright fine, we can go." She said wriggling out of my arms. We said our goodbyes and headed out of the club.

Brandon's POV
Seriously? She invited Shaw here and not me? I thought to myself. I knew very well I was staring, as my beer bottle was close to breaking from the pressure my hand was exerting on it. She looked so good, and here I am dateless sitting here watching her dance with my teammate obviously looking for a one night sort of thing. Yet there they were rubbing it in my face. Wait? Why am I thinking this? I'm not jealous. We were never dating. I was brought out of my thoughts as Kaner and Rach started talking to me. Honestly did they have to bring her up. Wait she's using him to make me jealous? Please the two of them are enjoying one another's company I thought to myself as I grabbed another beer. Eghhhh why did Kaner have it so easy? It's obvious the two of them were made for each other. I mean he was the biggest manwhore around less than three years ago, and now he has the girl of his dreams. How does that happen? Sometimes I think life hates me! I thought as I laughed quietly to myself. Could Ellie be the girl of my dreams? Am I really ready to settle down yet? I mean I really like her, but what if I find someone I like more? I wrestled with my mind a little bit more, before deciding just to go for it. Downing the rest of my beer, I made my way over. "Andrew" I said glaring. "Ellie you look wonderful tonight, you mind if I cut in?"
"Finally." I thought I heard Andrew mutter, as he made his way over to Pat and Rach.
"What's up with those three?" I asked as I brought her body into mine.
"Nothing." She said laughing and shaking her head. Something was definitely up. They were laughing and looking in our direction. I put the thoughts into the back of my mind, and focused on the beautiful girl dancing in front of me.
"You look beautiful tonight." I said.
"You don't look too bad yourself. I hope I'm the reason you are happy again" she said winking. "You looked kind of bitchy up there. With your glares and all." She said laughing.
"You caught that huh?"
"You got to work on your subtleness Saad. I mean everyone in the club could tell." She said laughing.
"I'll remember that."
"So what's up. Why were you so upset?"
"Umm. Nothing. Just thinking." I lied.
"Oh. Ok. That's cool." She said her smile fading ever so slightly.
"It's just so hard to see someone else with something I want."
"Ohh really? And what would that be?" She said turning to give me a smile.
"I don't know. You tell me?" I said winking.
"Hmm. I don't know what it could be. Maybe you have feelings for Andrew or something." She said laughing.
"Nope. That's definitely not it." I said shaking my head. "I was more thinking about the person he was dancing with."
"Ohh, you mean't me?" She said sounding shocked before laughing. "Again too obvious Saad."
"Really you knew?"
"Duh! Why would I have asked him to dance with me otherwise. It got you over here didn't it?" She said smirking.
"You totally had this all planned out!" I exclaimed.
"Maybe. Maybe not. What you going to do about it?"
"This." I said leaning down to kiss her.
"Mhmm. I think I can deal with that. Took you long enough." She said winking.
"Alright. I know. I should have asked you out sooner. Sorry El."
"That's fine, but you do realize you missed out on half a night you could have been dancing with me right?"
"Damn."
"Yup. You missed out. I mean now I'm tired." She said frowning.
"Well I could always just take you home. You know if your tired." I said smiling.
"I think that would be nice. Plus Rach totally ditched and left me rideless and friendless" she pouted.
"Alright. That's what we'll do. You have a coat?"
"Yup. Let me grab it. Its just over there." She said pointing over to where the guys were huddled.
"Thanks Shawzy." I heard her say with a wink.
"No prob girl. Anytime." He said returning the wink, getting a head shake from El. "Night you two." He said laughing and waving as we walked out. Well this night has been interesting I thought to myself as we made our way to El's apartment. Definitely not how I had seen this night going down, not that I was complaining though. I didn't know how far to press, so I just kissed her goodnight and promised to call tomorrow. Sure I wanted more, but was now really the time? I think I really like this girl, so I was definitely going to do this right.

Ellie's POV
Damn that girl works miracles I thought to myself, as Brandon and I made our way to my apartment. I totally have to thank her tomorrow, even if nothing big happened tonight. I mean I pretty much had him confess he has feelings for me. Great start huh? It was cute. He walked me to my door, and kissed me goodnight, before leaving me to my sleep. Would tomorrow be any different? Or would we be back to where we were before? I would have to see what the day brought I guess. I put my worries aside and enjoyed the peace and quiet as I drifted off to sleep.

Rachel's POV
"So what do you think their doing right now?" Pat asked tracing up my arm.
"Haha knowing El, she's at home sleeping." I said laughing.
"Really? Sleeping?"
"Haha yup. There's no way in hell he getting anything from her tonight." I said laughing.
"How do you know? Guys can be pretty persuasive ya know." He said winking.
"Nah. I know my girl. She probably got a ride home, seeing as we conveniently ditched her. Then they probably kissed goodnight in front of the door, and then she probably went to bed and analyzed everything that happened, what it meant and if they were ever going to work." I said shrugging.
"Damn. Girls and their connections. It's almost if you can see the future though I guess it makes sense." he said shaking his head.
"I'll let ya know tomorrow. Though yes I am great at picking up on things." I said laughing.
"I've noticed. I think it's pretty sweet. What am I thinking right now?"
"Ummm how much ya love me, and the fact that you are going to forgive me when I say I'm too tired and need some actual sleep?"
"Haha. Not exactly." He said smiling."But that's ok. I forgive ya." He said winking.
"Great. Now I really am sorry, but I'm still exhausted from our little vacation."
"No problem, I am too. Night Rach."
"Night." I mumbled and fell asleep almost instantly.
