The Diary of an Unintentional Puck Slut

Caeleigh came over to watch the two Pens games in Florida. Because we couldn’t go to Florida, we decided to have a Florida ‘beach’ party in Sid’s living room. We wore bathing suits and sat on beach towels drank pina coladas.
The Pens ended up losing their first game against the Panthers 3-6 and winning the second one against the Lightning 5-4 (which was exactly what I said to Brandon, oops looks like I did jinx them).
Halfway through the second game I finally decided to tell Caeleigh that Sid had asked me out. She had been talking about how happy she and Geno were now that they had graduated from pseudo-dating to real dating. She did stuff with the WAGs and he took her out to dinner, and he was so happy to have her. And she was more than happy to be with him.
To shut her up I told her what Sid had said. She actually screamed and began shaking.
“OH MY GOD!!!! How did you not say yes to him immediately!!!!” She was starting to hyperventilate.
“Calm down, Caels,” I said pouring her another glass of wine. “I told you, I’m not ready to date him yet. I just need some time.”
“It’s been nearly a week, isn’t that enough time?”
“I don’t know,” I sighed.
She began to calm down and think more clearly. “Okay, so you’ve thought about it, and, what is actually stopping you from saying yes?”
“I’m not ready for a boyfriend, especially the most famous hockey player in the NHL,” I replied.
“Hey, Geno is pretty famous too, and I don’t have a problem dating him,” she said with her usual sass that always made me smile.
“You and I are very different people. I’m very private and I don’t like talking to people.”
“Okay, so maybe you and Sid can try dating without being public about it, just to get used to it.” Caeleigh suggested.
“That’s really smart. And then when we’re ready we can go public.” I thought about it some more.
“Caeleigh, you are like a relationship expert,” I said to her smiling. “I don’t know what I would do without you. You're like my Oprah, ” I hugged her, and then we argued whether we should watch the Hunger Games or Twilight.
When Sid returned from Florida I was waiting for him. I was pretty nervous, I’m not sure why, but I wanted to get it over with. As soon as he walked through the door I rushed over to him.
“Hey,” he said putting his bags down. “What’s up?” He gave me a kiss on the cheek.
“Yes,” I said. “I’ll be your girlfriend.”
His face lit up and he looked so happy. “I don’t even know what to say I’m so happy!” He picked me up carried me over to the couch and set me down on his lap. He kissed me on the forehead, “you’re my girlfriend now.”
“Yeah, except one thing,” I explained what Caeleigh had suggested, and he seemed a little disappointed, but agreed.
“So I have to wait a while before telling everyone that I have the most amazing girlfriend ever,” He said kissing my nose.
“Hey, I may not be an amazing girlfriend, you don’t know that,” I said jokingly even though I knew it was probably true. “So, I believe you won that game last night,” I said stroking his hair. “I think there’s something we need to do?”
“You’re right,” he said, and we went up to his room.
Being his girlfriend did not make sex any different, except he kept mentioning it. I think maybe he didn’t quite believe it himself. I still slept in my own bed after, it might be a while before I sleep in his bed with him.
This morning we went to the practice ice arena together. The Pens had an optional skate and I really wanted to try that back flip. None of the other ice girls were there, even Caeleigh. About half of the team showed up, including Brandon.
I spent most of their practice trying to psych myself up to the back flip. I sat on the bench watching them practice. Brandon sat down next to me during a break.
“What’s up Sutter Butter?” I asked him, pretty smug with my new nickname for him.
“Sutter Butter? Wow, I haven’t heard that one before,” he replied sarcastically.
“Can I come over after practice today? I miss my cat,” I paused, “and I want to talk to you about something.”
“Yeah, okay,” he looked concerned, but he didn’t ask anything.
Near the end of practice I was finally mentally ready to try the back flip, so I climbed up on top of the boards in front of the bench. Half the guys had already gone back to the locker room (including Butter), so the ice was quieter and I didn’t have as many people watching me. I stood there for a few minutes with my back to the ice trying to mentally picture it. The landing was the only part I was really worried about.
Suddenly I felt something touching my butt.
I turned around to see Beau with his stick in the air near my butt and a grin on his face.
“What.” I asked, not amused that he had broken my concentration.
“What the hell are you doing?” He asked.
“Back flip, now move.” I replied turning around.
“Hey,” Sid said skating over to him, “stop touching my girlfriend’s butt.” He shoved Beau lightly.
“Your girlfriend?” Beau looked shocked, and several other guys skated over to see what was up.
“Wait, Sid has a girlfriend?” Duper said patting him on the back. I gave Sid a look and I turned around so my back was to the ice.
I took a few deep breaths and jumped, landing it with a wobble, but I didn’t fall on my butt or break my legs!!!
I heard cheers behind me and I turned around to see the guys watching me. “Nice flip!”
“Thanks,” I said embarrassed and skated off the ice to take my skates off.
After practice Brandon drove me to his house. I waited until we got there and I had Pancake on my lap before telling him about Sid and me.
“Wow, are you sure you’re ready for that?” He asked looking down at me.
“I don’t know, but I’m not sure I ever will be completely ready, so why not now?” I replied.
“What do we do now?” He asked.
“I feel like I should not be sleeping with other guys now that I have a boyfriend,” I swallowed after saying that word, “especially one of his teammates.”
“That makes sense, so we’ll just be friends,” he said. “I’m just the guy who looks after your cat.”
I was going to make a joke about that, saying that he takes care of my pussy (cat), but that might lead to some habits I’m trying to break.
“I should maybe get back to my boyfriend,” I said as Pancake jumped off my lap
“I’m going to have to find a new ice girl to sleep with,” he joked as we drove to Sid’s house.
I hit him playfully, “hey, your girlfriend is visiting you in like two weeks.”
“I forgot about that,” he sighed, “It’s going to be so weird seeing her after sleeping with you, and knowing she’s been sleeping with another guy.”
“You guys will figure things out.” I reassured him.
“I hope so.”
Sid and I spent the afternoon watching Jane Austen’s Mansfield Park. I think he was a little bored. Maybe Brandon will still be my Jane Austen buddy.
Now I have to write an essay on it.
Ugh. Remind me again why I thought grad school was a good idea?

I woke up yesterday to find a black VW beetle in the driveway. I ran down to Sid’s room to looking for him.
“SID!!” I screamed and ran through the house trying to find him.
“What the fuck is this?!?” I yelled once I finally found him in the garage.
“What?” He looked up at me.
“The fucking car in the driveway!” I yelled, losing my patience.
“It’s for you,” He looked very timid, like I might hurt him.
Sid and I talked for a while after I calmed down.
“How much money do you actually have that you can just buy me a car?” I asked rhetorically, not actually wanting to know how rich he was.
“That wasn’t even an expensive car. Don’t worry about it; I have more money than I know what to do with.” Sid sighed.
“That must be really weird for you,” I looked up at his pretty eyes, “I grew up pretty average, so if I suddenly made millions of dollars each year I wouldn’t know what to do with it.”
“I was that way for a while, but I eventually started to figure out what to do with it,” Sid said. “It took me long enough to get a house, if that says anything. What do you think you would do if you had a lot of money?”
“There’s this really nice house I’ve always wanted to buy. My friend lived across the street from it when I was younger and I used to dream of living there.” I sighed, remembering how beautiful this old house looked up on that hill, and the gorgeous views of the mountains and lakes.
I gave Sid a look, “Don’t you dare even think about buying me a house.”
“I don’t even know what house you’re talking about, so calm down,” he said wrapping his arms around me. “Just be thankful that someone got you a car, for free. Besides, you’re my girlfriend. I can buy you things.”
I’m still getting used to that. Him calling me ‘girlfriend.’
Yesterday before there game against the Oilers I saw Duper and he said “shouldn’t you be up with the WAGS? My wife is excited to meet you, everyone is actually.”
“Thanks, but I’m not really ready for that. Besides, I have to skate,” I said pointing to my skates.
Wow, I was a wag now. Caeleigh loved it, but she likes that sort of thing. Hanging out with other girls and doing girly things. I don’t mind hanging out with Caeleigh, but in flocks girls can be overwhelming.
Caeleigh talked me into going to my first wag event. We’re all going to Mrs. Flower’s house to watch the big rival game (Pens Flyers) tomorrow. I was told to wear Sid’s jersey, I guess it’s something they do at these things. So I need to get one of those.
They’re really expensive, maybe Sid will buy me one?
Ugh, not looking forward to this.
I guess this is part of my transition phase into publicly being Sid’s girlfriend.
PS. Carli was super excited when I texted her about Sid and I. She wants to visit for my birthday, but it’s in like a month. I can’t plan that far ahead.
My first official WAG event went horribly.
I think I nearly got kicked out of the wags. (wouldn’t that be a good thing?)
We were watching the game, and things were going okay.
Until I asked what would happen if a player had a husband or boyfriend. It’s a legitimate question.
Mrs. Flower was polite and said that he could do stuff with the wags, they wouldn’t have a problem with him being gay.
“Yes, but he wouldn’t be a wife or a girlfriend, so we couldn’t call him a wag. He’d be a husband or boyfriend, a hab,” I tried to explain.
“Honey, the habs are a team, we couldn’t call them that,” Mrs. Duper replied.
“Right, so we should have a non gender specific name, such as ‘Significant others of hockey players,’ or something,” I felt like no one (even Caeleigh who was just sort of nodding) was on my side for this.
“What? No that’s stupid.” Mrs. Flower snapped, “this isn’t even a problem because there aren’t any gay men in the NHL.”
“That we know of.” I added. “Maybe they don’t feel like being openly gay because their partner wouldn’t be able to be a part of the wags.”
“Look, just because you’re Sidney Crosby’s girlfriend doesn’t make you more important than us. The players’ hierarchy does not translate to their wag’s status,” Mrs. Flower retorted, letting me know she was top bitch around here.
“I’m sorry, I wasn’t trying to do anything, I’m just saying,” I stopped talking and realized everyone was staring at me.
The rest of the game went okay, except I really didn’t want to be there. I sat next to Mrs. Juice (Jokinen) for the third period because she looked like she also didn’t care.
The Pens beat the Flyers 4-1 which made a lot of them happier, but I left with Caeleigh as soon as I could.
When Sid returned from Philadelphia the next day he had already heard about how ‘difficult’ I had been with the wags. (I’m guessing Mrs. Flower texted Flower and used angry French words about me.)
He seemed disappointed in me until I told him what had actually happened.
“What? They got mad about that?” He said laughing, “that’s actually a really good point, he couldn’t be called a wag, but ‘significant others of hockey players’ is kind of hard to say.”
I agreed with him. The acronym would be ‘soohp’ which is too much like soup.
“Maybe they don’t like me because I’m an ice girl,” I suggested.
“That’s lame, why wouldn’t they? Do they like Caeleigh?” He asked.
“Yeah, but everyone likes Caels. And she isn’t living with Geno,” I added looking up at him. “Or maybe they’re all just jealous that I get to date you,” I added kissing him on the cheek.
He gave me a look, blushing, “You realize they are already dating or married to hockey players?”
“Yeah, but they’re not you,” I kissed him again.
Ignoring my advances he replied, “You’re just going to have to make them like you, show them how nice you are.”
“They’re going to get manicures on Sunday, I might go with them,” I really didn’t really want to go.
That night I actually slept in his bed after our obligatory superstitious sex (I say obligatory, but I actually look forward to it, a lot).
Somehow beating the Flyers made this time special, and I was very tired after and didn’t feel like walking all the way to my room so I just slept in his bed.
The next day the Pens had 1:00 game against the Canucks, which they won in a shootout 4-3. I got to use that back flip I’ve been practicing so much. After the game a bunch of us went out for dinner and I had to see some of the wags again, including Mrs. Flower. She kept giving me looks, like I was about to try stealing her husband from her. I wasn’t even sitting near him, or talking to him.
That made getting manicures the next day kind of awkward. I almost didn’t go because I wasn’t feeling well (that stupid medication, blahh) but I didn’t want her to think she’d scared me away.
After manicures we all went shopping with our husband’s/boyfriend’s credit cards and bought expensive clothes. I felt strange using Sid’s card, but he gave it to me a while ago to buy groceries and stuff. And he did want me to get along with the wags, right?
Monday I felt sick again, almost didn’t go to school but I felt better by lunch. I’m glad I went to class, I got into a heated discussion on the character of Elizabeth in Pride and Prejudice and how it wasn’t just that Darcy was an ass to her, it was about money and class difference. After class I realized I was a bit like Elizabeth. I guess that makes Sid my Mr. Darcy.
For Monday night’s game Kate decided we were finally ready to skate to Blurred Lines. It was very erotic.
Pens lost 0-1, which means no sex for Sid and I until after their next win, which might be this Friday, but that’s four days away : (
Yesterday I visited Brandon and made him watch Les Miserable with me. I think he hated it, but I figured that movie was so depressing we wouldn’t end up sleeping together afterwards. However I was reminded of how cute Eddie Redmayne is. And his gorgeous blue eyes.
Yoga Wednesday has become a regular thing for the ice girls and Caeleigh and I go running together ever Tuesday and Thursday. My life is starting to get into a more organized pattern, though there is one normal ‘pattern’ that is missing. It freaked me out at first until I realized my doctor said I may not even have it.
I probably should not have brought this up during breakfast this morning.
“It’s so weird not having my period.” I said absently as I read the back of the orange juice container.
Sid spit out the sip of coffee he had just taken, “What did you just say?” he asked still choking a little.
I looked up from the orange juice, “What? Oh, my doctor said with this new medicine I might not have my period. It’s so weird to not have it. I mean, after like, a decade of worrying about it each month, to just not have it, and not even care because I know why it’s not happening, it’s just weird.” I went back to reading the orange juice.
Sid stared at me for a while; his jaw set hard, his eyes full of a mix of anger and something else I couldn’t quite pick out. (Worry? Concern? Anxiety?)
He was still staring at me when I put the orange juice down. “What?” I said shrugging.
“Don’t do that to me,” He said sternly.
“I just thought you’d want to know that that’s what was happening, or not happening rather,” I replied. “I’m sorry, I forgot how grossed out guys are with periods.”
“It’s not that,” he replied, “You know what it is.”
“I’m sorry, I thought you’d want to know. You know, for sex reasons. I’m not having my period so we can have sex,” He didn’t say anything so I kept talking, “You have a game tomorrow, and when you win, which you’d better because I’ve been so horny all week, we can have sex because I’m not having my period.”
His eyes seemed to change a little when I said I’d been turned on all week, but his jaw remained set.
“That thing you’re doing with your jaw right there,” I pointed, “It’s really turning me on.”
His eyes opened a little more like he was surprised, like nobody’s ever said anything like that to him before.
I smiled and shook my head at his cute innocence, “I’m going to take a shower,” I said as I left.
(I didn’t take a shower.)
(Well, I did eventually but that’s not what I meant)
