In Your Eyes

Thirty-two

Piper licked Sidney's collar bone, biting at the gold chain about his neck. Each thrust made her want to ravage him; something aggressive had spawned inside her in the past 30 minutes of fucking him and she wasn't about to stop now. She was leaving bright pink marks all over his flawless skin and she didn't care. Whatever had gotten into them that morning, she was riding it out just had hard and fast as she was riding his dick.

She couldn't hang on forever, though. It just wasn't possible with him. Piper could pretend she had all the self-control in the universe and it wouldn't matter thanks to Sidney and what he could do to her body with his.

His thrusts came faster, more insistent. With his mouth locked onto one of her nipples, his breath was unsteady and hot against her skin. Piper clutched at his chest, her fingers mapping the panes of his muscles as they worked to bring her to the edge.

Piper was afraid to look at Sid in that moment; he was so intense. Everything he did was so intense. Her eyes opened with some force and saw that fiery lust in Sid's eyes, feeling him pulse inside her even as their gazes connected. Their mouths met, crushing against one another as Piper felt Sid increase his pace even further. His hips rocked with hers, pounding her, delivering everything she needed to get there. The pressure wound stronger, eventually exploding out from her core as she felt Sid cum inside her. Somehow, they had matched one another, and now they were floating. Piper felt every ounce of tension drain away as she gave way to Sid's strong arms as they hugged her to his chest, his kisses soft along her neck and jaw line.

Sid didn't have a thought in his head, not after that orgasm. He let his body come down along with Piper's, their chests heaving against one anothers' as he remained planted firmly inside her. He knew he made the right decision in coming to Bar Harbor the minute he stepped off the plane and saw her waiting for him….After this though - he couldn't think of a reason that was good enough to make him leave. Then again - he couldn't think about much at all at that moment.

He wiped Piper's damp bangs from her face, kissing her tenderly. "You okay?"

Her voice was husky and weak. "Yes…very."

"Good." He kissed her again, desiring to look in her eyes. No matter what she did or how good she felt, her eyes got him every time.

Piper made a soft noise as she shifted to sit up, which made Sidney smile. He watched her beautiful body as she rose and rolled off to the side, leaving Sid feeling very bare without her. Without any command, she instinctually snuggled against him, which was exactly what Sid was wanting.

He pressed a kiss to her forehead. "Let's just not leave the house today."

"Mind reader, that's what you are." She shifted her eyes up and smiled. "Amongst many other titles."

"Sure, sure." Sid rolled his eyes. "Weather is too bad to do anything other than stay in anyways."

Piper felt his fingers barely touch her chin. This was the version of Sidney she adored most: post-sex, snuggly Sid. Tender and soft and boyfriend-y Sid. He could suggest anything and she'd agree, only if she could have this her whole life.

"What is it doing outside?" She glanced over to the window by her bed, seeing the same thing she saw when she'd fallen asleep: rain falling in sheets against the glass. It was the sound her and Sid fell asleep to in one another's arms. "Oh. Okay, so we haven't missed anything then."

Sid chuckled, his voice still deep from slumber. "Not a thing."

"Do you want breakfast?"

"What's on the menu? I'll make it."

Piper clicked her tongue. "Sidney Patrick. You don't make a girl cum like that and then make them breakfast. That should be against the law." She shot him a fake glare. "Now let me do the cooking, please?"

Like he would argue. "Fine. What's your specialty?"

"Weeelll…." She rolled onto her stomach to face him, twirling a piece of her hair between her fingers. "We can start with one of my 'rabbit smoothies' you made fun of many months ago."

"Hey! I didn't make fun of them…I just…" Sid stopped, watching Piper's grin grow. "Okay, maybe I did."

"Jerk." She pushed at one of his pecs. "So I'll make you one of those. You like omelets?"

"Love them."

"With salmon?"

"Even better." He smiled. "Have I mentioned I'm lucky?"

"Yes." Piper leaned forward and kissed him. "But not as lucky as me."

James busted out laughing. "Fuuuuck meee."

"What?" Ali rolled away from him and looked out the window. "Shit."

"Was this in the forecast?"

"I think so."

"Well damn. Guess we'll just have to stay in and cuddle all day." He wrapped his arms back around Ali and pulled her to him. "You're stuck. Can't move. Must remain in arms all day."

"Oh like that's a REAL punishment, babe." She kissed his cheek, feeling the scruff of his longer-than-normal beard. "I'd rather cuddle here than in Pittsburgh."

"This place was a great idea." James gazed around at their new-ish bedroom. It still had that new wood smell, freshly painted and not worn in enough. It made him happy just to sit there and look at it. It also made him even happier to look beside him at the naked girl whose head and arm were draped over his chest.

His hands went to her long hair, his finger tips lightly scratching at the top of her head. "You didn't have anything you wanted to do while we're here, did you?" He felt her shake her head 'no' against his chest. "Good, me either. Just wanted to be with you and only you for a while."

Ali looked up and met his friendly gaze, his eyes rather cheerful for first thing in the morning. "I love you."

"Ditto, babe."

"So…where should we hang out first?" Ali sat up and her dark hair spilled over her shoulders. "The couch? Or…"

James laughed. "I think it's there or the bed and that's it."

"The couch it is then."

The pair got up and threw some clothes on, then shuffled out to the kitchen and living room area. Since the house wasn't huge, the kitchen and living room were open to one another. James flopped down on the couch and clicked on the tv while Ali stood in the kitchen, gazing out the small windows above their sink. The rain was coming down hard; the lake gray and choppy under the heavy downpour.

Ali turned her attention next to food because where there was a Neal, there was an appetite. Opening the refrigerator door, she realized now what was first on their list of things to do.

"We are totally and completely without sustenance, babe."

James lifted his head up. "Say what?"

"Food. We have none." She opened the door as he stood to look.

"Whoa, you're not kidding."

Ali watched him as he came over and looked inside. Exactly three things lived inside the fridge: a case of beer, parmesan cheese, and a half empty jar of tomato sauce.

"Well that's not gonna get us far" he mumbled.

Ali shut the door, then opened the cupboards. "Jesus - we left this place pretty fucking bare this summer, didn't we?" She opened the next set of cupboards, which revealed two boxes of cereal and a packet of Jello that hadn't been used for Jello shots back in August. "What did we bring with us again?"

"Beer and wings, which I put in the freezer….and uh…..yeah, that's it."

"That's all you brought?" She started to laugh. "James!"

"You said throw whatever in! So I did." He folded his arms over his bare chest. "I was hungry for wings, what can I say."

"I meant to throw in like….you know…bread, cheese, meat, soup - real stuff!"

"You've known me how long and you trust me to know what to do with food?" He quickly tickled Ali's stomach, pinching her in the sides and sending her into a fit of giggles. "My girl doesn't know her own husband? What is this madness?"

"Stop!" Ali was squirming and James' kept going; totally deflecting any responsibility away from himself and using the moment to get her. "You ass, I know your tricks!"

"Tricks!" he said, easing up. "I'm hurt."

"You're hurt, huh."

"Yes. You don't even know me." He kissed her, pressing her back gently against the counter.

Ali's fingers played at the waistband of his baggy shorts. "I don't know you?"

He shook his head, kissing her again. "Not at all. Not like I thought."

"Ohhh…poor baby…" Ali slid her hands up his long torso to his broad shoulders, pulling him towards her more as their kiss became much, much deeper. "I'm sorrrrrrry."

"Liar…" He lifted her so that she was sitting on the counter. "Make it up to me."

Ali felt his mouth against her neck, biting gently, nipping his way down the middle lower and lower. She tipped her head back as James scooted her towards him, legs spread around his waist. "You know…earlier…when I said….I didn't have plans?" she managed between kisses.

"Yes" he breathed, lifting her shirt up over her head.

"Turns out - I did."

James felt like he just won the lottery. "I like it when you lie."

"Me too actually." Ali grabbed his neck and pulled him into her.

James responded by burying one hand in her hair behind her head, pulling enough to tilt her head back even more. His eyes opened and stared at her, the green in their color taking control of the blue in the dull light of the kitchen. "I have a feeling I'm going to like these plans" he said, smirking. "Show me."

Ali pulled the band of his shorts down in one quick move, giving James the ammo he needed. With his hands on her hips, he held her tight against his hardness, letting her get a feel of what she loved before he even entered her. Ali shimmied her panties down, her mouth and James' never separating. His mouth caught her cry as he entered in one long, smooth push. From there, moans and gasps were the only thing she could utter.

Sidney stood off to the side as Piper chopped and sliced and picked apart various vegetables and fruits she had in her refrigerator. He wondered if there was anything other than produce that she bought when she went shopping.

As she turned her heavy duty blender on high, the whirring overtook any other sound in the room. She glanced over to see Sid smiling at her. To tease her, Sid pretended to say something to her, when he wasn't actually speaking at all.

Piper cocked her head. "What!?!? I can't hear?"

Sid moved his lips again as if speaking, which caused Piper to laugh in frustration. She pointed at her ear and shook her head. He repeated his silent question again, which finally prompted her to turn the blender off.

"I told you - I can't hear when this thing is on."

"I know" he replied with a guilty grin. "I wasn't actually saying anything."

Piper gasped. "You suck!" She immediately turned the blender back on and drowned out the laughing Sid was doing next to her. Even though the blender was loud, it was no match for Sid's signature giggle. It made her chuckle as well, right up until their smoothies were finished.

Sid held out two glasses as she poured the pale green concoction evenly between them. "Okay, let me know what you think, because these will change your life."

"My life, eh?" Sid tipped the glass and took a long drink. It was….surprisingly….extremely good. "Damn. I stand corrected."

Piper was beaming. "Toldya so." She watched him drain the entire glass, becoming rather surprised herself. "Jesus."

"You want yours?"

"Uh…yes?"

"I want what you don't finish."

She shook her head. "You're too much."

From there, Piper handed over what she 'couldn't finish', making Sidney very smiley. She went about assembling their real breakfast, realizing Sid couldn't help himself though - he had to lend a hand. He chopped various colored peppers and a bunch of broccoli as Piper went to creating the perfectly shaped egg white omelet.

He watched with great interest, wondering if he could replicate her technique. "You do that pretty well, gotta admit."

"Skills" she said, carefully rolling the picture perfect omelet onto a dish, complete with sliced melon on the side. "Order up."

Sid gave her a kiss as he took the dish. "Thank you, Chef."

"You're welcome, Captain." She made sure to wink at him before going back to the stove to make hers.

They ate their breakfast at the table, laughing over a story Sid told about the last couple games they had and an ongoing prank being played on Jeff Zatkoff. With every new tale he told, Piper learned a little more about him and a little more about his teammates. She couldn't remember meeting Jeff, but now she really wanted to. Next time in town, she would.

Which reminded her….

"You know, I was wondering…" She approached the topic slowly, still unsure of the idea herself even as she brought it up. "…since you're here now and all….I was wondering if you'd like to meet my father?"

"Really? You sure?"

"I wanted you to meet him last time - he was just so busy with the restaurant." Piper took a sip of water. "How about we just have dinner there tonight, and you can meet him then? I'm sure he'll be there until way late anyways."

Sidney was flattered. "I would really like that, Piper, yes. I, uh….I didn't really bring a suit or anything--"

"--Babe. No. This is Bar Harbor, and my dad isn't a suit guy." She smiled and rubbed his leg. "You look good in everything anyways. What you wore on the plane is nice enough for this place."

"Okay, if you say so" he said with a relaxed sigh. It did relieve him a little to know that. If he was meeting her father, he wanted to be at his absolute best. He trusted her though. "As long as I don't disappoint you in any way. Or him."

She tilted her head, once again surprised and stunned that a man like him actually existed. "Sid. You know better." Leaning in, she kissed the corner of his mouth, getting only a small feel of the lips she'd felt all morning. "It's not about that anyways."

"Won't April or Bailey be upset to know we're together all weekend without seeing them?" He asked this in real concern, wondering if it would hurt their feelings.

Piper took a bite of her omelet and smiled. "That's why we're going to the restaurant. It's still our weekend alone together, and if there's anyone who can keep a secret, it's my dad."

"I think I like David even more now" Sid replied happily.

Ali lay on top of James on the couch, a throw blanket haphazardly covering their now-naked bodies from just the waist-down. As they lay there, they looked at one another and smiled.

"So much for grocery shopping" Ali replied, letting her lips brush against James'.

"Somehow I think food takes a backseat to sex."

"Somehow…I agree."

James drug his fingers lightly along her back, enjoying the closeness of the moment and the laziness he felt. He could go back to the bedroom and take a nap and not feel an ounce of guilt. His cabin. His woman. His life. His luck.

"You know what?" Ali lifted her head. "I just had an idea."

"Does it involve sleep?"

"What! We just woke up."

He scrunched his face. "So?"

"Hear me out, at least?" Ali batted her eyelashes in hopes of persuasion. "It's a goodie…I think."

"Alright, spill."

"You know how we have that spare room we don't know what to do with?"

"Yeeaaah…." James looked at her suspiciously.

"What if we got it ready for our baby."

James nearly flung Ali off of him, that's how violently he sat up. "ARE YOU PREGNANT?"

"No - no, not yet!!" She was laughing, grabbing at the blanket that fell to the floor. "And if I was, you almost tossed me across the fucking room!"

"Holy shit." James ran a hand through his hair, feeling his heart rattling in his chest at top speed. "Dammit, I thought….I don't know what I thought."

Ali frowned and pulled the blanket over her, warding off the chill. "Sorry to disappoint you."

"No…No, no, no, babe…" He turned and held Ali's face in his hands, his eyes connecting with hers. "No, you could never disappoint me. That's not what I meant."

"I know, but….well, in any case…."

"Yes." James nodded once solidly. "Yes, let's do it. I mean…you may not be pregnant yet, but you will be. Eventually."

"Right. Plus?" Ali shrugged bashfully beneath the blanket. "Could be kinda fun, right?"

James was thrilled. It would be more than fun…it would be like it was already here. It would make the anticipation of it all that much more real. "How do we get ready though when we don't know if it's gonna be a boy or a girl yet? Is there some trick to that?"

"Not really. I mean…I think people use gender-neutral colors and stuff. Yellow and green and colors like that…."

"We already painted the room blue though?" James pulled at the blanket, covering himself up more with it. "I may need to think about turning the heat up in here at some point, eh?"

Ali giggled. "That'll be our first step. And THEN we'll go shopping. You up for this?"

"Am I UP for this?" James wrapped an arm around her neck and pulled her close. "You're damn right I'm up for this."

"Let's keep the room blue, too" Ali replied. "I like blue. And there's no way that our little girl is going to wear a bunch of pink anyways."

James smirked. "You're gonna be one bad ass mom."

"Thanks." She patted his bare leg and stood up. "Shower and hit the road?"

"I'm on it."

James stood up, letting the blanket fall to reveal his toned body in all its glory. He scooped Ali up without warning, carrying her to the bathroom so they could shower together. They behaved themselves, sticking to just showering and nothing else, and were dressed and ready in no time.

While Ali blew her hair dry, James stepped into their spare room and took a long look around, his hands going to his hips. He tried to imagine what the room could look like; what it may be like with a kid of his own. It was scary as fuck, but it excited him too.

Because the room had been used for storage of odds and ends until they decided what to do with it, James' various tools, left over paint, and a few pieces of furniture they hadn't moved yet still remained in the room along the wall. He dug through his tool box and grabbed the tape measure, then began measuring the various lengths and heights of the windows, the door, floor space, etc…jotting down the numbers with a pen and a napkin he fetched from the kitchen.

By the time Ali was done and ready to go, he held out the napkin. "Whaddya think?"

She stared at the various numbers. "You measured stuff?"

He nodded proudly. "Told you I'm up for this."

"Apparently!" Ali felt like James was more than up for it; he was downright thrilled. She could see the excitement in his stunning eyes. It was the same excitement he had whenever he really accomplished something big, or if they did something big together as a team. It was that satisfied expression that made her feel all kinds of new love for him. "Hey James? Before we go…."

He turned around, one arm holding the doorframe. "Yeah?"

"Thank you."

"Thank you?" he repeated, a little confused. "Why are you thanking me?"

Ali took a few steps forward and stood on her toes to kiss him. "Because you are amazing." She patted his cheek gently. "Now let's go outfit our future kid."

She walked past, and James took a second to really absorb her compliment. Deep inside, he felt completely satisfied and content…and it felt good.

* * *

Piper and Sidney sat together on her couch; Sid in a relaxed seated position with Piper's head in his lap, her legs extended comfortably along the length of the couch. They were in the middle of one of the worst movies they'd ever seen, but at this point had committed to watching all the way through, if only for the humorous value in it.

Sid idly played with Piper's hair as he watched the movie, and they both groaned at the time same as they watched yet another horribly dramatic scene play out before them.

"You can't possibly tell anyone on the team that I watched this."

Piper smirked. "As long as you don't tell anyone I know I watched it either."

"Deal."

The movie played on, and the two teenage protagonists began to make out and the couple groaned again.

"This movie!!" Piper covered her eyes. "WHY is this even allowed to be played on HBO?"

Sid was shaking his head and laughing. "Why was this even allowed to have a budget and be made in the first place?"

The music was just as bad. It made the pair of them burst out in laughter all over again, listening at the female protagonist delivered some seriously cheesy line.

"Oh GOD." Piper flipped over onto her back, her face now pointed upwards. "If you ever use a line like that on me…"

Sid chuffed and looked up at the ceiling. "Oh come on...I may not be the best at being smooth, but I'm not that bad."

"You should've been a movie director." She reached up and caressed the angle of his jaw. "You're all analytical and good at seeing things."

He thought about this with some intrigue. "Yeah? Yeah…that'd be a pretty cool job."

"Ever wonder what your job would be if you weren't a hockey god?" Piper smiled when she saw the look Sid gave her. "I know, I know….you're not a 'hockey god'…."

"I never really gave it much thought." Sid ran his hand along Piper's stomach, his fingers playing just beneath the hem of her top. "I guess I'd be a fireman."

"A FIREMAN?"

He stared at her. "Yeah, why? What's wrong with that?" Her green eyes were wide and her mouth stayed open. "I wouldn't make a good fireman?"

"Would you do bachelorette parties, too?"

"Hey! I'm being serious here!" he said with a laugh.

Piper was giggling, though she tried to cover her mouth with her hands to mask it a little. Her eyes met Sid's and he just shook his head. "Sorry….just teasing you. You know that."

He nodded. "I do. Now what about you? Did you always want to teach yoga?"

Piper tried to think about the answer to that, but Sid's hand was officially under her shirt and his fingers tracing along her stomach felt really good. "I, um….I did, yes….But I thought I originally wanted to be a botanist."

His hand stopped moving. "Wow. You don't hear that every day. Nice, Piper."

"Thanks."

"I guess it makes sense, given your awesome little greenhouse."

Piper was happy he made the connection. "I really do enjoy it. But it's made a nice pastime all the same."

"Will you miss it?" Sid locked his hand around her waist, holding firmly. "When you move?"

She hadn't thought about that. This caused her to hesitate as she contemplated her emotions. In just that slight hesitation, Sid's eyes seemed to change as he gazed at her.

He doesn't miss a thing, this boy. Piper made sure to smile. "I can recreate my garden there, right?"

"You don't have to ask me--"

"--I just meant, flowers grow in Pittsburgh, yes?"

Sid eased his grip on her waist a little. "Yes." His mouth formed a small smile. "And if you want a greenhouse - you'll have one."

Piper laced her fingers between his. "Your house could use a little color anyways."

Sid needed the happiness in her expression at that moment. There was so much about Piper that made him feel completely at ease; he could truly be himself around her, and he was learning even when he had his moments, she seemed to still be there for him. But it was just as important, if not more so, that Piper be herself around him. She was the one moving to be with him. If she couldn't maintain the individual she was after that move, he would be heartbroken.

In front of them, the movie continued and a rather dramatic moment must have been playing out because the music became louder and more serious.

Both Sid and Piper's eyes moved back to the movie, just in time to see the lead male character swoop in for a stereotypical rescue of the female protagonist.

They groaned one more time.

"I think it's time to get ready for dinner" Piper replied. She sat up, sorry to feel Sid's hand slip from its place on her stomach. "What do you think?"

"I think I'm excited for many reasons." Sid stood up, pulling Piper up with him so that she was facing him. "Reason one? Because I get to meet the man who raised you."

Piper smiled sweetly. "Reason two?"

Sidney leaned in close. "To get away from this movie" he whispered.

"Insert #4 shelf supporters, C, into the pre-drilled holes on interior sides of the Side Storage Unit, A."

"What?"

Ali stared at the directions. "I think we're looking for C bolts that go into Shelf A….I think."

James looked around the floor, trying to locate which of the thousand bolts were labeled C. He reached for a pair of longer screws, studying them with a bent brow. "Fuck, okay. Got 'em. Next?"

"Shouldn't you put the bolts in fir--"

"Just tell me the next step, babe. I got this."

Ali shook her head and smiled. This entire day had been a lesson in how amazing an individual James was, and it reminded her why she loved him. As he knelt there on the floor in blue v-neck t-shirt and jeans, he looked more like a teenage boy than a grown man assembling furniture for his future son or daughter.

"Let me guess" he said, holding up a flat board. "This is the next piece?"

Glancing at the papers in her hand, Ali laughed. "You got it!"

"SCORE. Read 'em, babe."

She couldn't help but giggle. "Okay - Hold the removable shelf, B, at an angle to place it on the shelf supporters, C." She watched patiently as James went about screwing the pieces together. When he finished, she put the white book of instructions down and held the shelf for him as he slid the pieces together.

James looked at her as he twirled the screw driver. "Pretty fun, eh?"

"It is." Ali watched him, his grin still present as he continued on to the next bolt. Her eyes moved to the lean muscles of his arms, the dark ink covering his left arm moving and shifting as he tightened the last one.

With an excited clap, James leaned his hands on his knees. "Alright - what's next? This is really coming together!" He looked down at the tiny storage dresser, wondering what they'd fill it with for their kid.

"Next, next, next…." Ali flipped to the next page, reading to herself first before repeating. "Okay, looks like we're taking the mending brackets, D, placing them over the pre-drilled holes on the legs of both side storage pieces." Wiping back a piece of her still-damp hair, she shook her head. "I fucking hate directions like this."

"Nothing comes pre-assembled anymore" James commented, bending at the knee to screw together the next pieces.

Ali admired him quietly as he continued. He was so attentive, so excited. It's like a new light switch had been flipped on inside James' mind and body; he was attacking this with an enthusiasm she never expected.

Finished screwing that together, James looked over. "Next?" Ali didn't say anything, she just smiled. James cocked his head, rather confused. "What's up, babe?"

"You're fucking sexy when you put baby furniture together."

James laughed. "What? Really?" He ran a hand through his hair.

"Yeah. Really." Ali tossed the directions aside. "Come here." She watched him like a hawk sizing up its prey as he scooted over on his knees. When he was close enough, Ali snatched his face and kissed him….hard.

"Shit, you weren't kidding" he replied, slightly out of breath.

"Sorry, I had to. You're so….dad-like and responsible right now….putting together shit and measuring the room and talking about how you're going to change the kid's diaper on top of this thing." Ali kissed him again, her fingers playing along his beard as their lips moved as one. "Fucking sexy."

James smiled against her mouth as they kissed again. "I'm glad you think so."

One more kiss, their tongues brushing against one another's, and then Ali backed away. "Okay." She smiled embarrassingly. "I'll stop now."

"Uhh………." James was giving her a half-grin, the light in his eyes bright as ever. "….who said we have to stop?"

Ali pointed at the half-assembled changing and storage station. "This did."

James glanced over his shoulder. Four pieces lay haphazardly and leaning on the floor, with what looked like a million bolts still scattered about. He looked back at Ali with a smirk. "Right. That definitely needs finished."

He walked back on his knees, resuming his stance by the screws and bolts. He grabbed a shelf and his screwdriver. "Ready?"

Ali smiled. "Ready."

It is possible to be in love with one of your own chapters? Because I am. And I love this one. I am just having so much fun writing and displaying the very different nature of these two relationships. #NoShame! ;)

6-28-14 ** A NOTE TO MY READERS **

As a result of James getting traded, I've found myself at a loss for words; a loss I'm not sure I'll be quick to recover from. The trade was a hard hit, and it will take some time for me to get over the initial hurt.

I wanted to post a message to at least tell all of you who have followed my stories up to this point that after this, I'm not sure how long it's going to be before I post a new story. James will forever be a Penguin to me, and likely to many of you as well. I'm just not sure how to go forward right now. As a result - I can't promise I'll be back, but I hope to be. I really do.

Let's let the dust settle and the hurt fade...and maybe we'll find one other again on this wonderful site.

Thank you all again for your support...It really has made writing so much fun for me, and I don't want to go forward with another story until it's fun again. Right now - that doesn't seem plausible.

I'll leave it open for any of you to message me anytime, if you'd like. I will occasionally check in just to see how everyone's doing. :-)

Regards,
Winter
