Olympic Break

Stephanie

Stephanie
"So what I'm getting is that you don't want to see me?" She spoke, crossing her arms. "Which would've been great to know before I made my way to your hotel."
"Steph, you know I want to see you. My dad's just being, stubborn, and thinks you're going to be a distraction." He sighed.
"You think he'd realize I'm not. It's been how many years?" She growled.
"I don't know why he doesn't, babe. I'm sorry." Jon apologized.
Stephanie rolled her eyes, walking back to her hotel. "Maybe he'd get the idea of me not being a distraction if you stuck up for me for once."
"Please don't." He begged.
"Whatever. Call me when your daddy lets you." She hissed.
"I don't need his permission. I'm twenty five years old." He scoffed.
"Wow, could've fooled me." She rolled her eyes.
"I'll call you later. I love you." He told her.
"Yeah, okay." She hung up.
She was pissed. Hurt, tired of the same old story as well, but ultimately, pissed. She shouldn't have had to fight to spend time with her long term boyfriend, but she was.
His dad resented her, and she had no idea why. She did no wrong to Jon. She was supportive and allowed him to put anything hockey related before her. She respect that hockey was his first love.
She got to her hotel. There were two girls wandering to the elevator. She walked behind them. The three climbed on. Stephanie eyed them. She was extremely nosey.
The brunette glared at her. Stephanie rolled her eyes, laughing a bit. The blonde turned to face her. She gave her a big smile before extended her hand.
"I'm Jordan, this is Autumn." She nodded her head at the brunette.
"Hi." The brunette mumbled.
"Are you here for the games?" Jordan asked.
"Uh, yeah. My boyfriend's in them." Stephanie explained.
She noticed the brunette eyeing her. She brushed it off, focusing on Jordan who was explain why she was there.
"My boyfriend's teammates are playing for the USA Men's Hockey Team. He flew us out to cheer them on with him." Jordan explained.
"She's dating Gardiner, from the Leafs." Autumn broke her silence.
Jordan nodded. "Who are you here for? Russia, Slova,"
"No, my boyfriend plays for Canada's Men's Hockey Team." Stephanie cut her off.
"You're Jonathan Toews girlfriend." Autumn pointed out. Stephanie nodded. "Why aren't you with him?"
Stephanie rolled her eyes. "Long story that you probably don't want to hear."
"Oh, we've got time." Jordan stated with an eye roll.
"Jake ditched us for some people he knows or something. I guess Jordan's mad about it." Autumn told Stephanie. "But if you need to vent, we were just about to go upstairs and eat our body weight in room service,"
"That we'll be charging to Jake." Jordan piped up.
"You're more than welcome to join us." Autumn shrugged.
Stephanie decided she was going to join them. She followed to two girls to their hotel room. She knew she needed some time with another girl who understood the 'NHL Wag' life. She had Victoria, but now that her and G were engaged, she didn't really have her anymore.
"Is Jonathan really as serious as they claim?" Autumn asked as she sat on a bed.
"No, Jon's really fun when it doesn't come to hockey and that." Stephanie stated. "But his dad," She stopped herself and just shook her head.
"He has one of those crazy dads, right?" Jordan laughed.
Stephanie nodded. "I've been dating Jon since we were, like, fifteen and his dad is still convinced I distract him."
She looked down at the comforter on the bed she was sitting on. She played with the material as she thought about how much Bryan Toews hated her. Andrée never had a problem with her. She was rather close with his mother. It was just his dad.
"Lemme guess, he lets his dad think you're a bad influence as well?" Autumn quizzed.
"Yeah, exactly. He acts like a nine year old when it comes to his dad." Stephanie rolled her eyes again.
Autumn chuckled, laying back in her bed. Stephanie furrowed her brows in confusion. She looked to Jordan who shook her head as she typed on her phone. Jordan looked up at Stephanie.
"She has some history with Canada's Golden Boy." Jordan explained.
Stephanie looked at Autumn wide eyes. "No way! You're Sid's ex?" She gasped. Autumn rolled her eyes. "You're the girl the guys teased him about at the training camp." Stephanie smirked.
"What a shame." Autumn sighed, reaching for the hotel phone. "Are you two getting anything? I want a cheeseburger."
Stephanie shook her head. She sat back on the bed she was sitting on. Jordan was beside her on her phone. Steph looked to Autumn who was laying on the separate bed with her arm over her eyes.
"Have you ever talked to Jon about his dad?" Autumn spoke, not uncovering her eyes.
"Yeah, I did today. I told him to call me when his dad would let him and he argued that he didn't need his dad's permission." Stephanie scoffed.
"Didn't that happen with Si,"
"Jordan, we're not talking about it. It's done." Autumn silence her friend. She turned back to Stephanie. "Maybe ease up a bit, just during the games. Guys work their asses off to make it to the Olympics and it's probably best to just give him a break so he doesn't stress."
Stephanie nodded. "I'm fine with doing that. I just wish I could see my boyfriend." She whined. "I don't even have anyone else out here because my best friend just got engaged so she's off in La La Land."
"Is she Russian?" Jordan questioned.
"No. She's dating, well, getting married, to Malkin." Stephanie waved her hand.
"Shit, eh. G locked down Victoria?" Autumn laughed. Stephanie nodded. "Don't worry. You can hang out with me since I'm alone out here too."
Jordan gave Autumn a dirty look before she rolled her eyes. Autumn smirked at Stephanie who laughed. The three girls sat around gossiping. Autumn and Stephanie had a lot they could relate to. Jordan understood some of the struggles Stephanie had faced in her long relationship with Jon.
The hotel room door opened and Stephanie looked over. She saw a guy, who she recognized to be Jake Gardiner standing in the doorway. He tilted his head to the side while staring at her. The bed beside Stephanie sunk and she looked to see Jordan walking over to him.
Stephanie looked at Autumn as she stood up. "I'm gonna head out. I'm feeling kind of awkward." She explained.
"I understand." Autumn laughed.
"If they make you feel," Steph looked at the pair who were all over each other before she looked back to Autumn. "Uncomfortable, text me and you can stay in my room. I have an extra bed."
"I will probably take you up on that offer." Autumn rolled her eyes while she shook her head.
Stephanie made her way to her hotel room. She was a few floors above where she was. She slid her keycard in and opened the door. It was dark so she flipped on the light. She walked into the small kitchen and filled up a glass with water. She drank it before leaving it on the counter.
Seeing Jake and Jordan, it kind of upset her to know that should couldn't be like that with Jon until this was all over. She walked towards where her bed was and froze when she saw a body on it. She flicked on the lamp near the bed. The light illuminated Jon's sleeping face.
"Jon?" She whispered.
She brushed her hand through his hair. He let out a groan before he slowly opened his eyes. He smiled at her. She smiled back, sitting on the edge of the bed. His hand held onto her waist as she continued to stroke his hair.
"What are you doing here?" She asked.
"I knew you were mad and I couldn't just sit in my hotel room knowing you were planning my death." He teased. She laughed a bit. "So I told my dad I was coming to see you for a bit, but you weren't here so I just went to bed."
"Did he lose his shit?" She frowned.
Jon nodded. "But I left anyway. I wanted to see my girl." He poked at her side, earning an eye roll.
