Olympic Break

Sidney

Sidney
"Did you see the hot brunette in your jersey, Bergy?" Jamie asked, nudging him.
"I'm taken. I don't look at other girls." Bergy stated.
Sid laughed. Bergy turned to him and glared. Sidney just shook his head. He knew Patrice was in a dedicated relationship, but he also knew he looked.
Sidney decided he was bored of sitting in his team's suite in the arena that overlooked the ice. He stood up, gaining his teammates' attention.
"Where ya heading, Cap?" Jamie nodded at him.
"Was gonna go ice level and try to pick up some girls." Sid shrugged.
"Oh, count me in." John chuckled, standing up.
Jamie followed the two. The three Canadian men made their way to the private elevator that would take them right to where all the fans were. Lucky for them, most of the fans had found their seats inside. They chatted with the remanding and signed some autographs.
"Never gets old." John grinned as they walked to the glass.
Sid watched the game silently. It was Slovakia against Slovenia. He didn't understand how everyone wasn't confused. The names were so similar.
"Hey, it's the girl in the 'Bergeron' jersey!" Jamie cheered, whacking Sid.
He looked to where Jamie was point and John was staring. Her brown hair was straight and to her mid-back. He saw the bottom of Patrice's number. She spun around and all three guys looked away.
Sidney shook his head while Jamie and John made it obvious they were staring. He focused back to the game. Slovenia, or maybe Slovakia, had just scored. He wasn't too sure.
Familiar laughter broke him from his trance on the game. He turned to his friends and came face to face with the lags person he was expecting to see.
"Autumn?" He furrowed his brows.
Her smiling face looked from John to Sidney. Her smile faded. She crossed her arms as her eyes trailed his body. She led her eyes to his before her shoulders rose as she inhaled.
"Hey, Sid." She spoke while exhaling.
"What are you d,"
"Jordan's here to watch James and Phil with Jake." She cut him off. "How's hockey treating you?"
"It's treating me as well as I treat it." He shrugged.
"Ah, I bet you treat it better than you treated me." She smirked.
"Autumn, c'mon." He sighed.
She rolled her eyes, turning away. She walked off and Jamie trailed behind. They stopped a few feet away from Sidney. He knew her game. Close enough for him to hear, far enough for it to be considered eavesdropping.
John turned to his captain in confusion. "You know Bergy Girl?" He asked.
Sid nodded. "We dated for a while." He explained.
"Bad break up?" John quizzed.
"Really bad." Sidney ran his hands through his hair. "She got mad about me letting my dad talk about her," John groaned and Sid nodded. "I started yelling back and she w,"
"Hey!" Jamie's voice cut Sidney off. "You two wanna head for dinner with some of Autumn's friends?"
Sidney's eyes landed on her. She had a smile on her face. He read her eyes. She was planning to make him hurt the way he hurt her. He sighed, looking down.
"I'm up for it. What about you, Cap?" John spoke.
Sidney looked up and nodded. He didn't want to be a part of her game but he knew he couldn't stay away from her. He missed her. He regretted everything he did leading to their break up. He wanted her back.
They went to some pub. A few of the guys tagged along from Team Canada. Some from Team USA came, with Jordan and her boyfriend. Later on in the night, G and Jon showed up with Victoria and Stephanie.
Sidney watched Autumn the entire night. She found a spot between Jamie and John that was directly across from him. He knew she meant to do it. She looked up, meeting his eyes as she sipped on her straw. Jamie leaned into her, whispering something in her ear. She placed her drink down as she laughed and leaned into him. As she rested against Jamie, she looked into Sid's eyes.
He was pulled out of her trance by a hand grabbing his bicep. He came eye to eye with Stephanie, who gave him a small smile. He returned it before it faded.
"What's up?" Stephanie asked.
His eyes shifted across the table to Autumn. She was now pressed against John, whispering to him. His hand rested on her hip. Sidney clenched his beer in his hand. Stephanie let out a sigh.
"I'll get her to come dance and then you get out there and talk to her." She smirked, shooting up.
He watched as Stephanie extended her hand to Autumn. She took it and the pair danced to the dance floor. Jordan and Victoria shortly followed them.
Sidney watched from the booth. He saw Stephanie spin Autumn. Steph looked towards him, nodding her head towards Autumn. Sid downed his beer. He slammed it on the table and made his way towards the girls.
He put an arm around Autumn's waist, leaning down to her ear. She danced on him as he held her close. She drove him crazy.
"Can we talk?" He whispered to her.
She nodded. She laced her fingers in his hand on her hip. She pulled him through the crowd. They got to the back door, which Autumn pushed open, stepping outside. All the smokers were gathered around outside.
"What do you need, Sidney?" She sighed, crossing her arms.
He looked down at her. She had an annoyed expression. He frowned at that. He shook of the guilt when he remembered how angry he was.
"Look, I get that you hate me and want to do everything in your power to hurt me, but going after my teammates is so fucking,"
"Going after your teammates? Sid, they approached me. I have no interest in Jamie or John. I've had bad luck with NHL captains." She laughed. "And I'm not trying to hurt you in anyway. I could never do that to you."
He took a deep breath. "I didn't mean to hurt you. I don't know how many times I've said I'm sorry."
"But you did hurt me! I was hurt then and I'm still hurt now. It's not just going to fade away with a 'sorry', Sidney." She shook her head at him. "'Sorry' isn't going to fix it."
"Let me fix it." He blurted out before he could speak.
She let out a single 'ha' at his statement. "You don't do that to me." She pointed a finger at him. "You do not get to do this, Sid."
"Do what? Try to make it alright between us?" He quizzed.
"No! Break my fucking heart and try to act like you did no damage!" She yelled. "You can't make it alright between up because nothing is alright!"
Autumn looked down. Sid watched her eyes water. He sighed, wrapping his arms around her. She weakly held onto his waist.
"Autumn, I can fix this." He breathed. "Let me try."
"How?" She sobbed.
"Let me take you on a date." He replied.
She scoffed, pushing away from him slowly. "Last time you ask me on a date, I got stood up." She laughed.
"That wasn't my fault." He sighed. "I tried to get there."
"I know." She nodded. "But you only planned the date to break up with me, which you ended up doing over the phone anyway."
"Give me another chance, Autumn. I still c,"
"No. You've gotten more than your share." She stopped him.
She shook her head at him before walking back inside. Sid let out a growl before he wound up to punch the wall.
"Hey!" A voice called.
He froze and turned to see Jonathan holding the door open. He stepped down, letting it closed as he walked towards Sidney.
"We have a gold fucking medal to win. You breaking your hand would be no good." Jon shook his head.
Sid dropped to his ass. "I fucked up. I fucked up and now she hates me."
Jon shrugged. "I'm not gonna disagree," He sat beside his friend. "You did fuck up, I won't lie and tell you different, but I will tell you that there's no way in hell that girl hates you. "
Sidney looked up, staring Jonathan in the eye. Jon shrugged again. Sidney sighed. He wished he believed Jon. He wish he believed that there was still a chance with Autumn.
"You're fighting to win a medal, use some of that fight to win your girl back."
