Lost Girl

Monday night rolled around as Jake was seated in the Leafs locker room. Beside him was Morgan and Cody. The two were talking about some of the Olympic events as Jake, the American of the three, focused on untying up his skates. His mind wondered to Piper who he had a date with the next day. He couldn't even begin to fathom the excitement built up within himself. A smirk grew on his face as he looked up to see some of the boys dancing. Rolling his eyes, he stood up and walked over to his stick so he could tape it up. Kadri was sitting down in his cubby as he looked up to Jake.

"Heard about you snatching up Joff's girl on Saturday." Kadri laughed as Jake shrugged, a smile on his face.
"Eh, you gotta do what you've gotta do man, you know that." He sent a wink to Kadri who nodded while laughing.

Jake walked back over to his cubby as Randy came out to talk to the boys.

"So today's practice went well, sorry we had to do it late boys but it had to be done. We won't be back until February 24th when we have our game, but keep in mind we have practice the day of the bronze medal game, so who ever is in it, don't be surprised if you miss a bit, alright kids? Have a good break."

Walking out, Randy and the rest of the managers talked to themselves as the boys continued getting undressed. Cody began talking about how Hannah and him we're going on a trip to the Bahama's while Morgan sighed, sitting back.

"I'm going back to Vancouver, my parents will probably just make me ski the whole time." He scoffed as Jake looked at him.
"Are you bringing Ashley?" He asked as Morgan ran a hand through his hair.
"We're trying to work it out, she's just getting time off with her work right now but I think so." He replied.

Nodding, Jake smiled to himself as Morgan noticed.

"You're just asking so you can bone Piper." He laughed as Jake's eyes grew wide.
"What the hell, no?" He cried as Joff overheard the conversation.
"That's not why you picked her up from me, right?" Joff asked from across the room.
"No! Wait what?" Jake asked confused as Lupes stood up, walking over to Jake.
"Good because if that's the only reason, I'll be sure that I won't hesitate on telling her." Joff smirked as Jake grew red.
"Oh fuck off, Joff. Don't act like you don't do that to girls." Jake spat, standing up.
"Yeah I do but, she's different. Not what I usually go for, could use some new flavour." He smirked as Jake shoved him.

Morgan and Cody stood up to hold Jake back as Joff's face grew angrier. Kadri and Frazer stood up, holding back Joff who was about to unleash on Jake.

"Don't fucking talk about her like that!" Jake yelled as Joff unripped from the two boys.
"Don't try acting perfect, Gardiner." Joff began as he shoved Jake back.

Images of Jake's past with different girls every night filled his mind as he attempted to shake them out before focusing back on Joffrey.

"Fuck this." Jake spat, waving his hand at Joffrey and turning around, throwing his pants on top of his underarmour.

He slid his top off quickly and threw on his t-shirt while Morgan watched his every move. Jake's eyebrows were pressed together as his breathing was heavy. He grabbed his belongings and walked out of the locker room. He walked into the elevator and began his journey back home. Once he arrived through his front door, Jake threw his bag of dirty clothes across the room as it almost hit a lamp shade. He groaned as he was met with a feminine voice.

"Good evening to you too, Jake." Ashley spoke as she was in the middle of preparing dinner for the three.

Jake ran a hand through his hair as he sighed, taking a deep breath. "Sorry, Ash. Evening." He waved to her as he walked to his room to get changed.

He decided on taking a long shower to rid himself of what he was accused of. As the warm water hit his body, he felt more relaxed but thought to himself. He knew how he was in the past but he was changing, he was sure of it. He didn't even have the urge to go out clubbing or finding new girls to hook up with. All he wanted was Piper. She was changing him without even knowing which scared Jake. The hold that she had on Jake had him worried, because he was already in too deep. Joffrey was only going to use her for a late night booty call because they lived in the same condo, so who the hell was he to say anything? After washing up, Jake stepped out of the shower and tried off with a towel. He changed into a pair of pajama bottoms and a Toronto Marlies sweater. He walked out to see Ashley scooping food onto their plates. Morgan was seated on the couch as he looked like he had already showered. Morgan sat up as he walked over to Jake.

"Joff's just being a real dick man, try not to listen to him." Morgan told his best friend as he sighed softly.
"What did that male gigolo do now?" She asked as Morgan laughed softly.
"He just accused Jake of only wanting Piper for sex." He told her as she put down the spoon and plate before walking out to the boys.
"That dick, what's his number?" She demanded as Jake looked at her, confused.
"You don't think I'm just using her? Jake asked softly as she looked at him with a softer look.
"God no, dude I see how you are with her and it seems genuine.." She told him as he gave her a soft smile, mouthing a thank you.

The group then decided on eating and trying to drop the subject as Ashley would kick in a few fighting words about Joff. The night went by as Tuesday morning rolled around. Jake walked into the living room after waking up to see Ashley with her suitcase ready while she sat on the couch. Raising an eyebrow, Jake smiled as he sat on the opposite couch.

"So you're going with the kid?" He asked as she nodded, smiling.
"Yeah, got the confirmation last night around eleven." She told him as Jake nodded and looked over to see Morgan walk out with his luggage. He sat it down near the front door as he towered behind Ashley, lowing himself to kiss her cheek to which she squirmed.
"Our flight leaves in 3 hours, we should get going so we can check in." Morgan told her as she nodded, getting up.
"Have fun guys, make sure he doesn't break himself on the slopes." Jake joked as Ashley grabbed her luggage and carried it to the front door as she slid on her shoes along with Morgan.
"Oh shut up, Gards." Morgan cut in as Ashley and Jake began to laugh.
"Alright, alright. See you in a week." Jake smiled as he opened the door for the two as they stepped out.


Jake shut the door and walked into his bedroom, deciding on picking out his clothes for his date tonight with Piper. He had reservations to take her out to one of the nicest restaurants in the city and he wasn't going to stop there. He had arranged for them to have a private midnight viewing at the aquarium. Imaging how tonight would go, he heard his phone go off, signifying he had a phone call. He flopped onto the bed and rolled over as he grabbed the phone.

"Hello?" He asked as he scratched the side of his face.
"Jake!" He mother happily cried into the phone as he laughed softly.
"Hey mom, what's up?" He asked as she began to speak.
"Nothing really, Kelsey and I are heading down to Toronto tonight!" She cheerfully spoke into the phone as Jake's eyes grew.
"W-Wait, what?" He asked as his mom repeated herself before continuing.
"We decided that since your brothers and your dad are away on some tournament for hockey, we decided on heading up there! We're actually just at the airport right now!" His mom chimed as he felt himself become sick.
"Mom I don-" He began before being cut off.
"We better be eating at Smokes tonight!" He heard his sister cut in as he groaned.
"Jake, make a reservation for Smokes and we'll see you soon, love you!" His mother then ended the call as he sat on his bed, face full of stress as he sunk into the pillow.

What was he going to do?
