Lost Girl
The Family
Piper flattened out her white blouse as she paired it off with a gold necklace and a pair of dark wash skinny jeans. She slid a pony tail onto her hair, thus giving her a high pony. Sitting on her couch, she opened a text from Jake she had received.
Jake: "Be there in fifteen, beautiful."
Piper felt her cheeks brighten as she bit her lip, trying to hide a smile. She was interrupted by her roommate who knocked on the door, before leaning in the door way. He gave her a funny smile as he crossed his arms.
"What are you smiling at?" He asked as she rolled her eyes and put her phone down.
"Nothing, just looking at the nudes of yours that were released across campus." She winked as she walked out passed him. Laughing, he followed her as she went through her purse in search for gum.
"So you're going out with that Gardiner kid, eh?" He asked as she gave him a funny look.
"He's older than you by a year, who are you calling kid?" She asked as he shrugged, walking to the kitchen area.
"He acts like a kid, plays hockey like a kid." He began as she spun around and gave him a hard punch to the chest.
"You can't even skate what the hell are you talking about?" She asked as his face scrunched up.
"Shut up." He told her before walking to the couch and sitting with his bowl of cereal he had made.
Piper laughed as she began to play with her phone as she received a text from Ashley.
Ashley: "Have fun tonight, girl."
Piper typed a reply as she was interrupted with a knock. Opening the door, Piper was revealed to see Jake who was wearing a nice white button up shirt with a pair of black jeans. His hair was gelled slightly as Piper smiled at how cute he looked. He removed his hand from behind his back as he extended a white rose to her. Her eyes grew wide as she smelt the rose before looking up at Jake.
"It's beautiful..Thank you!" She exclaimed as she opened the door wider, allowing Jake entry into her apartment.
Walking in, Jake looked around at the nicely designed apartment. He looked around until his eyes fell on the brunette lounging on the couch watching television. The boy looked over at Jake as he threw his hand up, giving him a wave. Jake waved back as Piper introduced the two.
"Jake, this is Will, Will, Jake." She announced as they nodded before Piper looked
The two nodded at each other before Piper turned to Jake and smiled, fixing her blouse.
"Ready to go?" She asked as he smiled before nodding a goodbye to Will, closing the two after him and Piper stepped out, making their way to the elevator.
As Jake and Piper arrived through the front doors of the restaurant, Jake turned to Piper and gave her a serious face to which she questioned.
"Look, I'm sorry this is going to be really weird and I swear I didn't mean for this to happen, but we're going to be eating dinner with my mother and sister tonight." He blushed as she laughed softly.
"What already introducing me to the family?" She joked as his eyes grew, waving his hands in a 'no' gesture.
"No, no! I mean not that I wouldn't, it's just, they told me last minute they were arriving in Toronto to see me and I had already made reservations for us.." He told her truthfully, making her smile softly.
"You could of just rescheduled with me you know.." She confessed as he shook his head.
"But I didn't want to wait." He told her as she blushed which made him smile.
The waitress lead Jake and Piper over to a table of four in the back of the restaurant. Jake sat on the same side as Piper as they searched the menu's. A few minutes later, a short older woman with blonde hair to her shoulders walked over to the two, while a taller girl with dirty blonde hair came behind her. Jake stood up and smiled, greeting his mother and sister.
"Hey mom, Kels. This is Piper, Piper this is my mother, Lisa and sister Kelsey." He smiled as his mother shook Piper's hand. Piper met the eyes of Jake's sister who was sending her daggers. Kelsey forced a fake smile and held out her hand. Piper took her hand in hers and nodded.
"Nice to meet you." Kelsey spoke as Piper smiled awkwardly before sitting down.
Jake had told his mother and sister that he brought Piper along because they were suppose to have a date tonight, as he tried to hint to the two that they had actually messed up his plans. His mothers mouth dropped as she quickly apologized, though Piper rolled her eyes as her brother spoke about being involved with her. The rest of the night went on nicely, besides the dirty looks Kelsey would give Piper. Jake grabbed the bill, as Piper refused, hoping she could help pay. Ignoring her pleas, Jake paid and got up, trying to leave with Piper as soon as he could.
"Tonight was fun, it was nice seeing you both." Jake told his mother and sister.
"It was nice meeting you, Piper." Lisa spoke as she gave Piper a brief hug before Kelsey butt in.
"I don't want to go yet, I mean we just got in Toronto and I haven't seen my brother in how long?" Kelsey spoke as Jake raised a brow while he rested his hand on the small of Piper's back.
"When have you ever cared of hanging out with me?" He laughed as she gave him a fake-confused look.
"Why can't I just want to spend time with my brother?" She asked as he spoke again.
"We'll hang out tomorrow, alright?" He asked as she shook her head.
"No can do, we have plans to go shopping." She announced as Lisa gave her a questionable look.
"Bu-"
"How about Jake and I just hang out tonight, won't see each other in another how many months, right?" She faked a laugh as Jake bit his lip and looked down at Piper who smiled up at Jake.
Piper knew that Kelsey didn't like her and something was up with her and she didn't know exactly why she disliked her, but he decided on not worrying about it and letting it go. Jake nodded as he sighed, looking at his sister.
"Alright, Kels you can come hang out tonight at my place, but we need to drop off Piper first. Ma, I'll call you tomorrow, see if you and I can catch up." He smiled as she nodded, looking at the three.
"See you later guys, Kelsey you need to be home by 1 at the latest, got it?"
"Yeah, yeah."
Lisa walked out as Jake looked at Kelsey, giving her a knowing look.
"What?" She asked confused as he rolled his eyes and scoffed.
"Let's just get going." He announced, being angered by his younger sister.
Piper walked beside Jake as Kelsey walked ahead of the two towards the parking garage. Licking her lips, Piper began to whisper to Jake.
"Tonight was nice." She told him as he laughed, looking ahead as he shook his head.
"Tonight was a bad idea." He told her as she silently knew why exactly he believed this.
"But it was our first date." She told him as she elbowed his side, making him laugh.
He took her hand in his as he weaved their fingers together, before swaying them slightly.
"We need a date just with us though." He told her. "Tonight wasn't romantic."
"I think it was, at least I got the meeting the family thing out of the way." She laughed as he rolled his eyes playfully.
"I'm sorry about Kelsey.." He began as she shook her head, reassuring him it was fine.
"I know that when I don't see my family for a long time I become upset and protective too, it's okay." She smiled as he sighed, removing his hand from hers, putting it around her shoulder as he pulled her into his side.
"You're too good for me."
Dropping Piper off at her condo, Jake put the car in park as he opened his mouth to speak as Kelsey interrupted him.
"I need to pee." She whined as he groaned, throwing his head back.
"Do you shut up?" He asked bitterly as Piper took his hand in hers, making soothing movements on the back of his palm.
"It's fine." She whispered. "I'll talk to you soon, alright? Just text me." She told him as he nodded, moving over to plant a soft kiss on her forehead.
Piper blushed as she stepped out and looked in the back at the angered Kelsey.
"Nice meeting you." She told her before quickly shutting the door, avoiding any comments from the blonde.
As Jake watched Piper walk up to the doors, he looked behind at his sister before exploding on her.
"What the hell is your problem!?" He roared as she smirked, crossing her arms.
"She too trashy." She announced as she tapped on the glass, looking up at the buildings. "I need to pee."
"You can piss yourself and pay for getting the duct cleaning for my car, why the hell did you act like that tonight!?" He asked as she shrugged.
"Oh stop being so angry and just bring me back to your place." She ordered him as he took a deep breath and made his way to his house.
Jake and Kelsey sat on Jake's sofa as they watched Dumb and Dumber. Usually Jake would be all for watching his favourite movie, but he was too preoccupied texting Morgan about his sister's games. Jake felt bad about Piper and how she was treated, she didn't deserve any of the shit his sister was serving to her. He decided on texting Piper to which she answered ten minutes later.
Jake: "Hey, I'm really sorry about tonight."
Piper: "Don't worry! I told you it's fine, just bond with your sister it's honestly not a big deal."
Jake: "But she ruined our first date."
Piper: "We can have another first date then, it's okay! :-)"
Jake: "Come over, I'm kicking her out now."
Piper: "Haha, okay fine. Be there in a few."
Jake stood up as he clapped his hands, smiling.
"Well, it's getting late. I'm gonna hit the hay, so you can call a cab to pick you up, yeah?" He asked, walking to his room the change into a pair of sweats.
"But it's too late.." She told him as he turned around, his eyes growing wide.
"Kelsey, you ruined my night and my date! You need to go!" He told her as she stood still, silently shaken up inside.
"You're a real dick you know, ever since you ruined things with Danielle you turned into this giant tool." She told him as she walked over to her shoes.
He watched his sister as anger filled him.
"Is that why you've been such a bitch to Piper? Because of your love for my ex girlfriend?" He asked, laughing a bit at the end.
"She's better than that trash you brought to the table!" She yelled as Jake laughed, walking to the door and opening it.
"Get the fuck out." He told her as she rolled her eyes and walked down the hall to the elevator.
