Lost Girl
Good Luck
For the rest of the week, Jake ignored his sisters calls. She'd text, call, but they'd all go unanswered. He decided on hanging out with Piper for the week, getting to know her better. They went on movie dates, dinner dates, and even shopping dates. Today was the first day back from the break for the boys in blue as they were to face the Islanders. Jake had to get down to the Air Canada Center early for a practice, but he had plans to take Piper out for coffee after. He got changed into sweats and a jacket as he hopped out of bed. He walked over to Morgan's room to see Ashley reading a book by herself. Jake raised a brow as he knocked.
"Where's the kid?" He asked as she smiled softly.
"Morning to you too, he's in the bathroom." She told him as he gave an innocent smile.
"Sorry, Ash. Morning." He waved as she nodded before going back to her book.
Jake knocked on the bathroom door as he leaned in the doorway.
"Mo, you coming with me to practice?" He yelled out as Morgan replied through the door.
"Yeah!" He called, opening the door to reveal him brushing his teeth. "Let me just get changed."
Morgan spat out the paste as he rinsed his mouth right after. He dried his mouth on a towel before walking back into his room to put on a fresh hoodie and a pair of khakis. He changed into them quickly as Ashley peaked over her glasses at him. Zipping up his pants he gave her a devilish grin.
"Like what you see?" He smirked as she nodded, biting her lip.
"Maybe.." She spoke softly as he slid on his hoodie and walked over to her.
He hovered over her as he leant down, pressing his lips to hers softly. She kissed him gently as she pulled away.
"Get to practice babe." She told him as he nodded and smiled.
"You're coming to the game tonight, right?" He whispered, making sure he was quiet.
"Yeah, Piper and I are all for it." She confirmed.
Morgan and Ashley had planned for the two girls to come down and watch the game, surprising Jake. Ashley had talked to her cousin and Piper had confessed to really liking Jake. Morgan knew Jake was into Piper because of how much he had changed. The old Jake was coming back and Morgan was loving it.
Morgan had said a soft goodbye to his girlfriend as he met with Jake who was grabbing a bottle of water. He threw one to Morgan who caught it, before they exited out the door. They arrived at the Air Canada Center in a few minutes and made their way to the dressing rooms. There was a bit of tension in the room that everyone could sense, due to the Lupul and Jake's heated argument when they last were together. The boys stripped of their clothes and into their gear as they skated onto the ice for a practice. They started off taking some shots off Reimer and Bernier before Randy blew the whistle, letting them know it was time to do a lap before they began. The boys did their practice with their respected coaches before hitting the locker room. They flew into the showers once they were done as Jake changed back into his clothing. He walked out to see a few of the boys piling out as he saw Morgan sitting and talking to Carter Ashton. Jake walked over and joined them as they talked about Morgan's vacation. Jake checked his watch to see he had to meet Piper in ten minutes. He got up and slid on his coat while his two friends looked up at him.
"Leaving already, Gards?" Carter asked as Jake nodded, smiling softly.
"He's got a little tea party date." Morgan mocked playfully as Jake rolled his eyes.
"Oh, with who? Shannon?" Carter asked as Jake shook his head, slightly cringing.
"Nah, Ashley's cousin actually, Piper." Jake spoke as Carter raised his brows, smiling.
"Damn, she have another one that I could scoop up?" Carter asked, making the two chuckle.
"Well I better get going, see ya boys later alright?" Jake announced as they nodded.
"Have fun, Gards." Carter waved off as Jake nodded.
"Try not to sleep over Riles bedtime story there, Bisky." Jake winked, making Morgan scoff.
Jake left his car parked in the Air Canada Center, deciding that the coffee shop was close enough to walk to. He kept his hands in his pockets as he kept his head down, avoiding the cold. He ended up in front of the shop a few minutes later as he opened the door and was met by the warmth and strong smell of coffee beans. He looked around and didn't spot Piper, so he grabbed a seat in the back, threw his coat down, and went to the cash to order them drinks. He knew that Piper liked her coffee double double, so he was able to correctly order her something she'd enjoy. He decided on grabbing them a banana load to split as he walked back to the table and set their food down. He grabbed his phone to see if he had any texts before he was greeted by a grinning Piper.
"Morning." She spoke softly as he perked up, a wide smile on his face.
"Morning." He replied back, getting up and opening his arms to her.
She fit perfectly into him as he kissed the top of her head before looking down on her. She stripped off her big coat, throwing it over the back of the seat. She was wearing a white wool sweater along with a pair of black tights and black riding boots. Leaving her black beanie on, she looked up at Jake and smiled before seeing the food in front of them.
"Double, double?" She asked with a raised brow, making him nod.
"I remembered." He smiled as she blushed softly.
"So how are you?" She asked, taking a sip of her coffee.
"Good, good. Kinda nervous about tonight, first night back at it, he confessed.
Piper nodded as she bit her lip softly.
"Just don't over think it. You'll be great." She reassured him as he smiled at her.
"Thanks, Pipe." He spoke as she smiled back at him.
The two talked for a few hours and shared their banana loaf before Jake checked his phone, seeing he had just enough time to grab a nap before the game. He stood up slowly as she watched him.
"I gotta get going, I have to squeeze a nap in before the game. I'll text you later tonight, maybe I'll see you tomorrow?" He asked as she nodded.
"Yeah, I should be good for tomorrow." She spoke, smiling softly as she knew she'd see him much earlier.
"Thanks for breakfast." She told him as she also stood up.
"Thanks for being a good date." He winked as she blushed.
Jake opened his arms up for her to hug as she had something up her sleeve. She went on her tippy toes to reach him, as she held his face softly. She pressed her lips to his softly as his eyes grew slightly wide before he smiled softly. He kissed her back slowly as he held onto her waist. She pulled away slowly, licking her lips of his taste. Piper blushed as she he raised a brow.
"What was that for?" He asked, she could tell he didn't have a problem with it.
"For good luck." She told him as he nodded.
"I like that, maybe we should do this before every game." He winked as she laughed softly.
"Hmm, maybe." She told him before he sighed softly.
"I gotta jet out, see you later okay?" He asked as he began walking towards the door, backwards as he still looked at the blonde.
She nodded as he returned one of his own, running out and down the street to his and Morgan's place.
That night, Ashley waited for Piper to come to her place. It had been weeks and Shannon was coming back in two days. She wasn't excited one bit to have her annoying roommate return, but she knew she was welcome to stay at Morgan and Jake's. She looked at herself in the mirror as she fixed the leafs jersey she wore. She had on a Rielly, 44 jersey, which he gave to her himself, saying that since they were dating now, she needed to cheer him on and bring him luck. She played with her red hair which was in soft waves before she heard a knock. She walked to the door and opened it, revealing her cousin. Piper walked in as she gave her cousin a big hug, which lasted a while.
"Ash, how was your trip with Morgan?" She asked, excited.
"Amazing, I met his family and they're all so nice. It's beautiful out in British Columbia." She told her.
"Did you ski?" Piper asked as she stepped into her cousins apartment.
"Yeah, Morgan had to help me out a bit because I forgot how to, but then I ended up beating his ass in a race." She chimed.
"Oh God." Piper laughed before looking at herself in the mirror.
She had on a plain white sweater and blue light wash jeans, along with a black motorcycle jacket. Her hair fell straight as she bit her lip, fixing herself up. Morgan had asked Ashley if he should get Piper a Gardiner, 51 jersey, but Ashley told him that it would be better if the two began were more serious and he gave it to her, himself. Piper was finished as Ashley was ready to go with her coat and shoes on. She smiled as she opened the door and held it open for Piper.
"Let's get going!"
Awesome so far! :) Can't wait to read more!
